Chapter 436: Chapter 261 “Sweet Cabin” (Part 2)_1
Early in the morning, Wu Wei got up exceptionally early.
After returning to the hotel last night, he told his friend that he was fine and then went to sleep; he even dreamed of his wolf pack during the night, but sadly the sensation wasn’t anything like being in the game pod.
Even upon seeing the sunrise, he was still pondering how incredibly beautiful it must be to watch the sunrise amidst the mountains and forests.
And as he was moved by the thought, he felt hungry.
The hotel offered a buffet breakfast, so he filled up on various meats, finding his appetite surprisingly good.
The experiences in the game seemed to have stimulated his hunger, making him feel like he could eat just about anything. And these foods would become a part of him inside, the raw material for him to continue growing.
In the morning, he immersed himself in the game once again, continuing to relish the pleasure of being the alpha wolf.
Although the staff said that the second time might not be as impactful as the first, Wu Wei still found that the second experience was just as addictive.
This time, he wasn’t the strong alpha but a challenger to the alpha.
At first, he had no intention of challenging the alpha’s authority and planned to keep running, but the alpha clearly didn’t want to let him off the hook.
To maintain its dignity, the alpha had to fight occasionally with another strong contender, thus consolidating its authority.@@novelbin@@
Because of the alpha’s halo, most wolves would be apprehensive and end up as stepping stones for the alpha.
But this time, the alpha picked the wrong opponent.
Wu Wei didn’t care about his opponent’s past glory; he forcefully knocked the other to the ground, his sharp teeth pressing against the other’s neck. At first, the alpha struggled furiously, but as Wu Wei bit down harder, the alpha’s roaring eventually turned into whimpering.
Power was transferred at that moment, and the pack gathered behind Wu Wei, accepting the new alpha.
The old alpha could only leave the place, looking back step by step, searching for another pack that would accept it.
Reluctant to end his session, Wu Wei took the survey that the staff handed him and gave every aspect a five-star rating.
Amidst farewells, he boarded the homeward-bound high-speed train, but he always felt like part of him would forever remain on that plain.
Pulling out his phone, he posted his experience on Game Inn, adding his own thoughts:
[This is a game that one must experience at all costs.]
[Though we often say humans are above all living beings, humans are after all animals, still retaining primitive wildness.]
[We long to run in the forests, not among the jungles crafted from concrete. This game will let you experience what pure wildness is and awaken the instincts within you.]
[I lived as a wolf for a while. Unlike previous animal simulations, this time you truly become a wolf— you can feel the agility in your body, you can smell more scents. This kind of gaming experience is something you’ve never tasted before, and is beyond what most gaming consoles can offer.]
After sending the post, Wu Wei leaned against the train window, watching Rong City quickly recede into the distance.
He sighed silently to himself, knowing that he ultimately still had to return to reality, back to his steel jungle.
The next day, just as he entered the company, he saw his junior manager looking at him with displeasure.
Recalling, Wu Wei realized that he seemed to have forgotten something very important.
He had forgotten to make a PowerPoint presentation for his junior manager.
If it had been before, he would surely be apologetically rushing over now, but this time, he suddenly felt that it was no big deal not having done it.
Compared to the ferocious alpha wolf, his manager was so docile it was almost laughable.
Besides, the alpha wolf had sharp teeth and claws, but his junior manager had nothing with which to pressure him.
The company’s salary was disbursed by HR, evaluations were conducted by a dedicated assessment team, and even work assignments were distributed universally—the only thing his manager could hold over him was to supervise the work’s progress.
Even this PowerPoint was actually part of his manager’s duties, not his own job at all—the manager just wanted to be lazy.
Many things that were once puzzling to him now become clear as day, and Wu Wei also realized that his manager was just an old dog barking vain threats, essentially nothing to be frightened of.
And when his manager noticed Wu Wei hadn’t come over to apologize all morning, he stormed over in a rage, slapping Wu Wei’s desk and shouting, “Wu Wei, what have you been doing these past two days?”
The office instantly fell silent, the surrounding people curious yet apprehensive, making Wu Wei feel as though he were back in the jungle, reexperiencing the moment of being challenged by the alpha wolf.
He stopped what he was doing and swiveled his chair around, looking up at his manager.
His manager was already over fifty, just a deputy director without even a full director position in the government-owned enterprise.
In this state-owned company, his manager didn’t hold much status and could only take advantage of the young and inexperienced like him.
At this moment, Wu Wei felt like a challenger, scrutinizing the old alpha in front of him, seeking its weaknesses.
And his manager’s weaknesses were quite obvious, practically shining brightly in front of him, tempting him to go in for a bite.
It would only take four words to have his manager pinned to the ground.
After staring for several minutes, Wu Wei stood, faced his manager eye-to-eye, and said in an even, unhurried tone, “None of your business.”
What do you think?
