Chapter 453: Chapter 269: This Game Is Awesome (Update 1)_2
The priest narrowed his eyes at Liuzi before shifting his attention to the Goddess of Art next to him.
Upon seeing her, his pupils immediately dilated.
Priests also possess their own blessings, which grant them divine revelations and allow them to see the true visage of the gods.
In this moment, he beheld the vast true form of the Goddess of Art behind her, golden powers woven into a perfect pattern, and he instantly realized she was a being on par with the Goddess of Mercy.
Devoutly kneeling before the Goddess of Art, he sincerely said, “I apologize for not recognizing your identity just now, great Outer God. I have no intention to speculate on Your purpose for descending upon this place, but I am willing to follow all Your arrangements.” @@novelbin@@
“Then bring out the best equipment!” the Goddess of Art demanded without any politeness.
...
“Well…” the priest sighed, “I’m sorry, we can’t offer much, but I can give you some advice.”
He invited Liuzi and the Goddess of Art to sit down, and the priest began to explain the situation here, offering quite a few useful tips.
Most of these tips were common knowledge to seasoned adventurers, but for the players, they were treasures worth their weight in gold.
Afterward, the priest thoughtfully produced a map and carefully handed it over to the Goddess of Art.
“This is a topographical map of the surrounding areas of the City of Judgment, a result of our painstaking exploration. It would sell for at least fifteen Gold Coins, but I’ll give it to you for free.”
After giving their sincere thanks, Liuzi left with the map, feeling that the Goddess of Art was quite useful.
Especially in a game setting where True Gods are involved, the presence of the Goddess of Art could bring many benefits.
Apart from her show-offish demeanor that was a bit irritating, everything else was fine.
On the map, Liuzi noticed that the locations of nearby dungeons were marked, and there were quite a few of them.
Some dungeons were too dangerous, filled with extremely powerful monsters, and previous adventurers wouldn’t risk their lives for money, at most they would clear some nearby monsters, but they wouldn’t venture deep within or clear out its core.
However, danger also meant high-quality items, as the generation of items was also related to the environment. The more dangerous the place, the higher the probability of high-quality items appearing.
Leaning over Liuzi’s shoulder, the Goddess of Art looked at the map for a while and then said, “Where shall we go next?”
“Let’s find a simple dungeon first to get a feel for the environment here.”
Once outside, Liuzi discovered the biggest problem in the game.
There were too many players!
Princess Dungeon already had a huge fan base, and Princess Dungeon 2 not only attracted die-hard fans but also a continuous stream of new players, making the wilderness overcrowded.
Fortunately, the generation rate of beginner dungeons was fast, and it didn’t take long for Liuzi to find a solitary dungeon entrance and quickly rush in with the Goddess of Art.
The dungeon appeared to be a staircase leading downward, and when the two rushed in, the dungeon’s door slammed shut behind them, the resulting vibration prompting Liuzi to swiftly get into the zone.
Different dungeons had their own forms, and it was difficult to know what lay behind them without a firsthand exploration, which made each exploration full of tension and excitement.
The dungeon that appeared before Liuzi looked like a large palace. The floor was covered with thick red carpets, and the walls on either side were lit with bright kerosene lamps.
At first glance, everything seemed quite normal, but when the doors nearby were violently thrown open and zombies with their stench of decay came towards him, Liuzi’s scalp tingled, and his previous ease instantly turned to fear.
At this moment, he was extremely grateful that he had only activated 15% of the game’s realism. The sheer oppressive feeling from those zombies alone would have been enough to make him wet his bed.
Although he knew it was a game, Liuzi still subconsciously felt as if he were truly in a dungeon, facing a throng of encroaching monsters, and intense fear made him tremble so much that he could hardly put up a decent resistance.
Unlike Liuzi, who was shaking with fear, the Goddess of Art appeared quite relaxed.
She strode forward and, with one punch, sent the surging tide of zombies flying away. The headless monsters, with their claws flailing, still tried to pounce, but were then kicked away by the Goddess of Art, their bodies dissolving into a pile of green blood upon landing, subsequently fizzling out with bubbles.
Dozens of zombies were cleared out in an instant, and once the room had regained its calm, the Goddess of Art brushed off her hands and turned to Liuzi behind her, “Can you stand up?”
Under the light of the gas lamp, the Goddess of Art shone brilliantly, and as she extended her hand to Liuzi, she looked like a Valkyrie, making Liuzi feel as though she radiated a holy light from head to toe…
No, she actually did radiate a holy light.
Taking her hand, Liuzi felt his heart start to race again.
He stood up awkwardly, not daring to look at the Goddess of Art’s face but instead started to search the ground nearby.
Monsters that die occasionally drop items, which may include but are not limited to weapons, armor, tools, and currency, among others.
As he collected these items, Liuzi reflected on the strength of the monsters and realized that the zombies weren’t actually that strong.
However, because the sensory experience of the game pod was so authentic, it had knocked him down with fear.
After silently picking up his loot, Liuzi quickly found a usable set of gear and then rushed toward the next room.
He kicked open the door, and the foul stench that met him made him frown, but he then gripped the dagger in his hand and forcefully beheaded the monster in front of him.
As the battle unfolded, Liuzi felt himself becoming more adept, what had once been terrifying monsters now turned into shiny experience packs, and the items they dropped further stimulated his senses, making him more excited.
When one monster fell, an object fell out of its body—a short sword glowing with a green light, accompanied by a crisp sound.
Ding-dang~
The sound, like the music of heaven, made Liuzi’s body tremble, and he immediately gripped the dagger in his hand.
This was a magic weapon.
The quality of a regular weapon depends on its materials and the method of forging, but a magic weapon twists the Laws themselves, endowing the weapon with even more extraordinary effects.
Wielding the short sword, Liuzi discovered that as he swung it, small red dots appeared on the monster’s body, and when he attacked those spots with the short sword, even without much strength, the monster would instantly die.
Examining the short sword, Liuzi saw the effect it displayed:
[Decisive Short Sword]: When only this dagger is equipped, all your damage is reduced to 0, but when you attack an enemy’s weak point, there is an effect of a one-hit kill. This special effect is ineffective against higher-level monsters.
After reading its effects, Liuzi marveled that, indeed, a magic weapon could completely change the mechanics of the game.
Having equipped the Decisive Short Sword, Liuzi continued to charge deeper into the dungeon, and before long, he felt a warm current welling up.
He leveled up.
With a level up, a player’s physical fitness would further improve, and although he couldn’t see specific numbers, Liuzi still had a palpable sense of becoming stronger.
This feeling made him even more excited, and after swapping out a batch of gear, he rushed forward again, heading into the next room.
Three hours later, the boss of the first dungeon, a cyclops with a single eye, lay defeated before Liuzi.
The creature had astonishing strength and could launch stones from a distance, but its movements were relatively slow.
Such an enemy would normally be tough to handle, but with the Decisive Short Sword in hand, Liuzi clearly saw red dots flickering on the creature’s body.
Seizing the right moment, he leapt onto the creature’s head and pierced its eye with a sword. The enormous giant fell to the ground with a painful roar, a multitude of items spewing out of its slowly disintegrating body, covering most of the room.
Standing in the room, Liuzi closed his eyes, savoring the aftermath of the intense battle, and couldn’t help but say, “This game is amazing.”
What do you think?
