Chapter 622 - 594 Pulling In
Six people looked at each other and couldn't help but smile.
"Once brothers, brothers for life!"
Following that, the six of them approached the two Red Flame Flowers. The white python was dead; the flowers now belonged to them.
As they approached the Red Flame Flowers, they found they were the same color as the blazing fire, and the closer they got, the more they could sense the fragrance in the air. This fragrance made everyone feel refreshed and clear-headed.
Perhaps it was this very aroma that the white python breathed in every night that endowed it with such divine power.
Chen Long's Treasure-hunting Mouse was happily running around the two Red Flame Flowers, jumping and hopping with joy.
While it hopped, it kept its gaze on Chen Long, its eyes brimming with a plea.
Chen Long shook his head, indicating that the Treasure-hunting Mouse couldn't consider the Red Flame Flowers its target.
Upon Chen Long's refusal, the Treasure-hunting Mouse's eyes were filled with extreme sadness, resembling a bullied young wife.
Feeling somewhat guilty, Chen Long gently stroked the Treasure-hunting Mouse's head and then pulled out a glossy green grass from his pocket.
This grass was called Dragon Grass. Though not as valuable as the Red Flame Flowers, it was still a rare treasure harder to find than gold. Chen Long fed the Dragon Grass to the Treasure-hunting Mouse as compensation and reward.
Afterward, Lin Tian carefully plucked the two Red Flame Flowers and tucked them into his chest, and the six hurried off towards Death Valley.
An hour later, they arrived at Death Valley and found the dozen disciples who were waiting there.
Upon seeing Lin Tian and his group return, the disciples showed surprise on their faces. However, a closer observation would reveal an oddity in their eyes.
The Red Flame Flower was a rare spiritual medicine. Perhaps it was Lin Tian's group's incredible fortune, or maybe their perseverance had moved Heaven itself. Who would have thought not only would they find Red Flame Flowers but two of them?
Now that they had two Red Flame Flowers, they needed to make use of them. For safety, Lin Tian decided to split up into two groups.
One would take a Red Flame Flower back to the Sect, while the other, led by Lin Tian, would take the other flower straight to the Dragon Emperor to see if they could cure the poison of the Five Blessing Scatters.
Lin Tian gathered everyone to share his plan but before he could speak, he sensed something amiss.
Over a dozen figures in black suddenly burst out around them, men from Hell.
"Not good, it's Hell!" Lin Tian shouted. Jian Cangsheng, Huo Shaotian, and others were shocked, but the disciples who stayed behind showed no surprise at the appearance of Hell's men.
Lin Tian immediately understood, "Damn it, did Hell find you guys early on and use you as bait to lure us into a trap?"
All the disciples hung their heads in shame; clearly, Lin Tian's guess was correct.
At that moment, Lin Tian felt as if he had been stabbed in the back. The disciples were unwilling to look for the Red Flame Flowers, so Lin Tian and his group did. After finding the Red Flame Flowers, they were betrayed by these disciples. Lin Tian had saved most of their lives, but what did he get in return? Betrayal, shameless betrayal.
"There are more than ten Converging Mirror experts from Hell," Jian Cangsheng said quietly on the side. "With your strength, you should be able to break through. Don't worry about us. You must take the Red Flame Flower and break out!"
Lin Tian nodded. Even before he had undergone the transformation by the Taotie System, he was able to kill seven Converging Mirror experts with the Godslayer Sword, and now that he had reached the Converging Mirror level and had been transformed by the 'Taotie System,' he did not consider these Converging Mirror experts a threat.
Just as Lin Tian was about to make his move to break out, he detected a powerful presence. This presence was exceedingly strong, several times mightier than the white python, to the point where he didn't dare to act recklessly.
Suddenly, from the nearby woods, a man and a woman emerged. Both figures were not strangers to Lin Tian.
One was Zhang Ya, the other the mysterious powerhouse who had fought over the Ability Stone in the South Sea, the Dragon Emperor's senior brother and the strongest member of Hell, Murong Lie.
In terms of power, Murong Lie was even stronger than the Dragon Emperor. Even with Lin Tian's iron bones and a hundred thousand jin of divine power, he couldn't even withstand a single move from Murong Lie.
There was simply no comparison!
Lin Tian didn't make a move, for it would have been futile.
Zhang Ya stared at Lin Tian, her eyes emitting a murderous intent, undoubtedly wishing she could kill Lin Tian right away.
But it seemed Murong Lie wasn't in a hurry to kill Lin Tian, so Zhang Ya didn't dare to act yet.
Murong Lie spoke, "You were the one at the South Sea who competed for the Ability Stone that day, weren't you?"
Lin Tian nodded, acknowledging what Murong Lie had said.
Murong Lie seemed to admire Lin Tian. He casually extended a hand and said, "Please, come with me. Even the Dragon Emperor has to show me deference. I came personally to capture you, and you should feel honored."
Lin Tian smiled, said nothing, and directly followed Murong Lie. As he passed by Zhang Ya, he could feel her angry gaze.
Lin Tian was "invited" away by Murong Lie, but the others weren't so lucky. The experts from Hell moved out together, tying them up tightly with ropes, and dragged them back after beating and kicking them.
Lin Tian was directly brought to a bungalow, where Murong Lie sat up front with Zhang Ya standing behind him.
Murong Lie pointed at Lin Tian and said, "Please, take a seat!"
An expert from Hell quickly brought a chair for Lin Tian, and he sat down.
To the side, Zhang Ya was grinding her teeth in anger. She didn't even have a seat, yet Lin Tian, a prisoner, was granted one.
Lin Tian patted the chair beneath him and stared at Murong Lie, saying, "I'm not one for beating around the bush, so just speak plainly!"
"Good," Murong Lie praised Lin Tian before continuing, "You show no fear in your eyes when facing me, that's manly. Since that's the case, I'll get straight to the point."
"I want you to join Hell. I can take you as my Closed-door Disciple. As long as you are loyal to me, I can make it so that in the future, you can take my place as the King of Hell, command everything, and have thousands submit to you. With a stomp of your foot, you could shake the whole world!"
"Are you interested in my invitation?"
Zhang Ya, standing by the side, shuddered when she heard Murong Lie say that Lin Tian could take his place; her fists clenched immediately, and her hatred for Lin Tian reached an extreme.
Zhang Ya knew that whether it was potential or strength, she was inferior to Lin Tian. If he really joined Hell, she would surely be overshadowed by him, which was the last thing she wanted to see.
Regardless, she must kill Lin Tian today, Zhang Ya thought.
No wonder?
Lin Tian thought to himself how Murong Lie was so courteous, likely because he valued Lin Tian's talents. After all, geniuses are one in a million, and everyone wants to snatch them up.
He smiled and said, "I want to know, what consequences will there be if I refuse?"
Murong Lie smiled, a hint of cunning creeping onto his lips.
"I know about the relationship between you and Zhang Ya. If you don't accept my offer, I'll hand you over to her. You should know her methods; she'll make you wish you were dead!"
Upon hearing this, Lin Tian instantly broke out in a cold sweat. If he fell into Zhang Ya's hands, she certainly wouldn't let him die a quick death; he would suffer tortures as cruel as the punishments of Hell at her hands.
Murong Lie seemed to notice Lin Tian's anxiety and tempted him, saying, "A human life is but a fleeting journey of a few decades. When you come to this world, you live for yourself. Think about it, on one hand is a torturous death, on the other is being my Closed-door Disciple, the future 'King of Hell.' You're still young; you can't just die so easily. Follow me, and you can live a life of grandeur and not waste your existence!"
Lin Tian appeared to be persuaded and said, "Nobody wants to die. Of course, I'd choose to live well if I can!"
"So, what you're saying is, you accept my offer and join us in Hell?"
Lin Tian nodded.
Zhang Ya saw Lin Tian nod and hurriedly said, "Master, I'm all too familiar with Lin Tian. This man is full of tricks. You can't trust a word he says. I suggest we kill him immediately. Even if he agrees with you now, he will surely betray you in the future. Who knows what he's really plotting!"
Murong Lie waved his hand to silence Zhang Ya, saying, "If I treat him well, how could he possibly betray me?"
Then, he said to Lin Tian, "Follow me, and you can have everything you desire. If you join Hell, whatever you want, I can prepare for you."
Murong Lie's words were clearly intended for Lin Tian's ears. He couldn't immediately trust Lin Tian, but he believed that as long as he met any of Lin Tian's needs, one day, Lin Tian would truly be loyal to him and serve him.
Lin Tian also knew that Murong Lie didn't trust him at the moment, which made him think of a story.
Emperor Qin Shi Huang was suspicious by nature, especially towards his generals, and he held many doubts. In order to unify Huaxia, he had no choice but to dispatch Wang Jian with all of Great Qin's troops to attack the State of Chu.
Wang Jian had followed Emperor Qin Shi Huang for many years and naturally understood his suspicious nature. To put the emperor at ease, before setting out, he repeatedly asked for more land and money from the emperor.
When Wang Jian was asked why he did this, wasn't he afraid of angering Emperor Qin Shi Huang?
Wang Jian replied that it was only by asking for money and land that he could be free from the emperor's suspicion, allowing him to lead armies in battle with peace of mind.
In a man's life, he pursues three things.
Money, pleasure, and power!
Wang Jian's demand for money and land was to prove to Emperor Qin Shi Huang that he only loved wealth and had no desire for the throne, which is why the emperor came to trust him.
To gain further trust from Murong Lie, Lin Tian decided to follow in Wang Jian's footsteps.
What do you think?
