Transferred to Another World and Became a Teacher

Chapter 118 - Preparation for the Presentation

“I got them, Aoi-san!”

While I was speaking to Kalila and Gaia, the shop door burst open and Early entered.

“Noisy, Early. What’s going on?”

Kalila complained in a gruff voice, and Early raised a hand.

“Sorry, Boss. I was on an errand for Aoi-san.”

“An errand…? What kind of errand would you be on?”

Seeing the suspicious look directed at Early, I opened my mouth with a wry smile.

“It’s true. I wanted to make coloured glass and a light source, and I asked him for the materials.”

“See?”

When I explained this, Early puffed out his chest and smiled. Kalila looked at Early’s hands with a bored expression, observing his cheerful demeanor.

“Materials… you don’t have anything.”

“They’re outside the shop. They’re a bit bulky, you see.”

As Kalila pointedly said that, Early snorted in reply. Then, Gaia tilted his head slightly and spoke.

“Do you have any connections with glassmakers? If not, since it's the first time, I'll take care of the ordering and delivery at a low price.”

“Really? Then, I'll leave it to you. I’m running out of time, so this was a great help.”

When I replied, Gaia raised an eyebrow.

“When's the deadline?”

“The day after tomorrow.”

Hearing my words, Gaia’s eyes widened and he froze. I tilted my head, wondering what was wrong, and he quickly shook his head a bit before nodding.

“O-okay. Understood. I'll do my best.”

“Thank you.”

It seemed that there was no problem. I breathed a sigh of relief and expressed my gratitude.

Early, Kalila, and Gaia went outside with me. There, a large quantity of materials was piled upon a cart. Looking at the mountain of materials which was both larger and taller than me, I turned to Early.

However, looking at Early’s eager expression, I couldn’t bring myself to say that it was too much.

“……Thank you. This is a great help.”

When I expressed my gratitude, Early grinned mischievously. Smiling back unconsciously, I turned to Gaia.

“Then, Gaia-san. I look forward to the completion of the coloured glass. I'll be at the academy, so please contact me if anything comes up.”

As I said this, Gaia nodded with a slightly strained expression.

Well, it’s good that various things were settled. I should bring Kalila and the others a gift next time.

Thinking this, I returned to the academy. I wandered around, trying to get a feel for the atmosphere of the academy before the school festival.

Then, I saw Eliza working on something in a relatively large courtyard; it looked like a small hill of sand.

I quietly approached Eliza, who looked troubled as she gazed at the sand hill.

“How’s the preparation going?”

“Kyaa?!”

I intended to speak normally, but Eliza jumped up in surprise. She must have been lost in thought.

“I’m sorry, I startled you.”

When I apologized, she clutched her hands to her chest, shaking her head in a flustered manner.

“N-no, no! I was a little surprised, but it's not a big deal!”

Eliza stammered, then looked back at the sand hill.

“May I ask you something?”

“Yes, what is it?”

When I replied, Eliza began chanting an earth magic incantation and activated the magic. Then, a golem-like head appeared from the sand hill.

The golem slowly crawled out of the sand hill, moving its limbs. It took about twenty seconds. Finally, the emerged golem struck a peculiar pose.

As we both looked at it, Eliza sighed deeply.

“……It’s pretty underwhelming, isn’t it? No, I understand. I actually wanted to do something like this: a sand hill would appear out of nowhere, a large golem would emerge from it, and the sand hill would disappear at the same time.”

Eliza sighed again after murmuring this.

Apparently, she aimed for a magic show-like presentation to surprise the audience. Her dedication to entertaining the viewers was wonderful, but she was struggling with how to achieve it.

“Yes… Then, how about dividing the magic into two parts?”

“Divide it into two parts?”

Eliza tilted her head cutely.

“Yes. The first is the magic to create a sand hill and create a golem inside it. The second is to return the sand hill to the ground. The former is fine, but the latter can be done without chanting, and it will improve the appearance of the presentation. If you plan it as a magic trick from the beginning, you could bury the golem in the ground beforehand, make the sand hill appear while bringing the golem out, and only return the sand hill to the ground, and the result would be the same, but…”

As I explained the proposal in detail, Eliza let out a cry of delight, “Ooh!”

“That’s wonderful! If I hide several golems under the ground… Thank you! Now I can make an even more impressive presentation than I had planned!”

“Is that so? That’s good, but…”

“Yes! Then, I'll go get the materials!”

Eliza ran off to get the golem materials. I thought she was going to make a golem in the sand hill without anyone noticing and demonstrate the strategic utility of magic. But was it okay to use the prepared golem for the presentation?

No, if Eliza was satisfied, there's no problem…

I tilted my head and moved onto the next location.
