Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches

Vol. 1 - Chapter 243 - Contemplate

"Hey, kid, why didn’t you come in through the main entrance?"

"I came in through the underground parking lot with the driver. I had a few things to discuss with him just now," HuMing explained simply.

Gu ZhouTing studied the young man before him, a look of satisfaction crossing his face.

HuMing didn’t seem to have the airs of someone overly entitled. It appeared that the rumors from the Han family might have been somewhat exaggerated.

"Alright, everyone upstairs is already here. Let’s go up."

HuMing stepped forward to walk alongside Gu ZhouTing. Seeing that the old man still looked rather healthy, he felt an inexplicable sense of joy.

After all, ever since he arrived, his grandfather had treated him exceptionally well.

The others were already waiting in the room, yet his grandfather had chosen to personally wait downstairs for him. If that wasn’t a sign of importance, then what was?

Of course, HuMing knew that part of this was also thanks to the old man’s prestige.

With his current identity, he was bound to be the center of attention.

"Oh, right, Granduncle, let me introduce you—this is my maid, Kang Xin."

Gu ZhouTing turned his gaze toward the young girl behind HuMing. Unlike the boy’s easy smile, Kang Xin remained composed, merely nodding in greeting—silent and reserved.

Gu ZhouTing frowned before suddenly blurting out something that made HuMing burst into laughter.

"She’s quite the looker, but why does she have no expression? Girls should smile more—it makes them prettier."

"Hahaha! So Grand Uncle thinks the same way? Exactly! She looks great when she smiles, but she always keeps a straight face. I’ll have to make sure she smiles more next time."

"That’s right. Though, a girl should also have some composure. Unlike my second son’s daughter—she’s like a wild child."

Trailing behind them, Kang Xin listened to their conversation, her cheeks growing inexplicably warm.

‘Do I really look better when I smile?’

When HuMing finally appeared before the assembled Gu family members, he laid eyes on the most important figures in the household.

His grandfather had two sons—Gu WeiJun and Gu WeiYi.

Gu WeiYi had a son, Gu YunZhou, and a daughter, Gu YunQin. However, his wife was notably absent.

As for Gu WeiJun, aside from his wife, Mo QingXia, the only other person was Gu ZhaoChuan—the one who had taken his place for over a decade.

HuMing instinctively glanced at Gu ZhaoChuan, who was also looking right at him.

The moment their gazes met, Gu ZhaoChuan’s heart nearly stopped, a sensation akin to a guilty man on the verge of being exposed.

But he quickly steadied himself, forcing a smile onto his face.

HuMing didn’t know his true identity—of that, he was certain.

As long as that remained the case, he had nothing to worry about.

Even though HuMing hadn’t severed ties with Second Granduncle’s branch of the family, that didn’t mean he could threaten Gu ZhaoChuan’s standing now that he had returned.

After all, he was the rightful eldest young master of the Gu family.

"HuMing, welcome to the Gu family." He took the initiative to extend his hand, assuming the demeanor of a proper host.

HuMing looked at the offered hand and suddenly curved his lips into a smile.

"So you must be the eldest young master of the Gu family, Gu ZhaoChuan. I’m older than you—just call me ‘big brother’ from now on."

Before Gu ZhaoChuan could react, HuMing grasped his hand and applied a sudden, subtle force.

Gu ZhaoChuan instinctively wanted to refute HuMing’s words, but before he could, a sharp pain shot through his hand—an unseen pressure grinding against his palm as if intent on crushing it.

He reflexively glanced down, but HuMing’s grip appeared effortless—calm, composed, not a hint of exertion.

Yet Gu ZhaoChuan was in agony, barely holding back the urge to wrench his hand free.

But he couldn’t.

If he were to forcibly withdraw his hand now, the way everyone in the room looked at him would instantly change.

Since Gu ZhaoChuan wanted to assert dominance, HuMing simply flipped the script and stepped all over him instead.

They’d be around each other for quite some time. Who knew what tricks Gu ZhaoChuan would try against him?

But this time, HuMing had already thought things through.

His identity carried far more weight than before.

Unlike in the Han family, here in the Gu family, he had true leverage.

There was no need for him to hold back.

If Gu ZhaoChuan wanted to stick his neck out, HuMing would knock some sense into him.

Releasing his grip, HuMing returned to his seat.

Gu ZhaoChuan sat down as well, subtly stretching his trembling fingers beneath the table to ease the pain.

But the pain wasn’t what concerned him most.

What truly unsettled him was—why had HuMing targeted him?

They had never met before.

So why had HuMing attacked him unprovoked? Did he know something?

‘No, that doesn’t make sense. If he truly knew, he would have exposed the truth outright and reclaimed his rightful place as the eldest young master.’

Gu ZhaoChuan convinced himself of this reasoning.

Otherwise, none of it added up.

Then, a bold thought occurred to him—

Could HuMing be here to seize power?

After all, his Second Granduncle had been forced out of the family back then.

If HuMing harbored resentment toward the Gu family, wouldn’t it be natural for him to seek revenge?

Was his return part of a bigger scheme?

Recalling how HuMing had been investigating the jade pendant, Gu ZhaoChuan found the timing far too coincidental.

Second Granduncle had only been gone for a few months—and then HuMing returned?

It didn’t make sense.

"Alright, alright," Gu ZhouTing finally spoke. "Now that HuMing is back, let’s welcome a new member to the family. We are all one family, so we must support each other, understand?"

He lifted his teacup, gesturing to the others.

The family members followed suit, raising their cups in response.

HuMing took a sip of the steaming tea, his gaze subtly sweeping across the room.

With just a glance, he had already assessed everyone’s character.

"HuMing, your uncle will be handling the necessary arrangements for you and Kang Xin. I heard you were the top student at your previous school. I hope you’ll maintain that standard here in the capital as well."

Hearing Gu ZhouTing’s words, a flicker of surprise crossed several faces at the table.

Clearly, they hadn’t expected the new arrival to be such an outstanding student.

"Wait a minute!"

Gu YunQin suddenly interrupted, her eyes filled with curiosity as she stared at Kang Xin.

Then she asked—

"Who exactly is this girl by your side?"

Beside her, Gu YunZhou furrowed his brows, reaching out to tug at his sister’s sleeve in silent warning.

But Gu YunQin ignored the gesture entirely.

She wanted to know—

What gave this so-called family member the right to bring someone else into their home?
