Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches

Vol. 1 - Chapter 248 - Can you back off?

The school bell rang, signaling the start of class. Students hurried back to their seats, their anticipation palpable—today, two transfer students were joining them. Though no one knew much about them, curiosity buzzed through the room as everyone wondered what the newcomers would be like.

Gu YunZhou sat at his desk, occasionally glancing at Xia Chen beside him.

Something was off about him today, and it caught Gu YunZhou’s attention.

This wasn’t their first meeting—he had encountered Xia Chen before at a banquet. The eldest son of the Xia family had left an impression, though not necessarily a strong one. Xia Chen hadn’t shown much enthusiasm toward him, and so, Gu YunZhou hadn’t paid him much mind either.

Now, with HuMing joining their class, Gu YunZhou worried that some students might give him a hard time.

As for who might cause trouble, he could only hope his classmates weren’t foolish enough to dig their own graves.

Still, considering his own standing in the class, others would likely follow suit as long as he took the initiative to show goodwill toward HuMing.

The only unpredictable factor was Xia Chen. Though, to be fair, Xia Chen didn’t seem like the type to bully others.

Unable to suppress his curiosity any longer, Gu YunZhou leaned in and asked quietly, “Xia Chen, what do you think of the new transfer students?”

Xia Chen found the question odd but answered anyway.

“What’s there to think? It’s not like some celestial being descended from the heavens. No need to make a big deal out of it. Besides, no matter who they are, they won’t have a higher status than your Gu family, right?”

His words weren’t meant to provoke. No matter how much the Xia family tried to align themselves with the top three families, they still lacked the necessary connections and foundation. That was the undeniable advantage of the three major families.

“Well… that’s true.”

“But why are you asking? Do you know the transfer student?”

“No, no, of course not! How would I know them?” Gu YunZhou scratched his head and let out an awkward laugh.

But to Xia Chen, that reaction seemed rather suspicious.

Gu YunZhou was acting strange today.

While Xia Chen was still mulling over that thought, the classroom door opened, and the homeroom teacher walked in.

Students seated near the entrance caught a glimpse of the new transfer students outside and couldn’t contain their excitement.

“Alright, settle down, today, we have two new classmates joining us. Let’s welcome them.” the teacher said, clapping his hands to prompt applause from the class.

As the students clapped, the transfer students finally stepped into the room.

The moment Kang Xin walked in, all eyes landed on her. Her striking looks quickly drew the attention of many of the male students.

In contrast, HuMing seemed almost forgettable, like the most unremarkable student imaginable.

“Introduce yourselves,” the teacher prompted.

“Hello, my name is HuMing.”

“I’m Kang Xin.”

HuMing’s introduction was as plain as could be. Kang Xin’s, though equally brief, carried a certain detachment—as if transferring schools was of no significance to her.

Even the teacher seemed momentarily caught off guard.

But recovering quickly, he continued, “Your seats are in the back. Kang Xin, for now, you’ll sit with HuMing. We can adjust later when we rearrange seating.”

HuMing nodded. He had already noticed that most of the class was focused on Kang Xin. After all, she had put some effort into her appearance today.

Meanwhile, he was just… an afterthought.

But as he turned toward his assigned seat, he suddenly locked eyes with a male student who was staring at him.

No—more than staring.

He was outright glaring!

If HuMing hadn’t been certain he’d never seen this person before, he might have assumed he’d unknowingly offended him.

‘This is weird…’

As he made his way to his seat, he caught sight of Gu YunZhou discreetly winking at him, as if signaling that his mission had been successfully completed.

HuMing had no idea what his cousin was up to, but he certainly wasn’t about to let his guard down.

After all, Gu YunZhou had grown up with Gu ZhaoChuan. For all he knew, this was just some ploy to distract him.

Better to stay cautious.

Kang Xin took the seat by the wall, and HuMing sat beside her.

On his other side, though, was the boy who had been staring at him.

Gu YunZhou also noticed Xia Chen's gaze. He hadn't even started building goodwill with HuMing yet, and Xia Chen was already looking like he wanted to blow the guy up?

What the hell was this iron blockhead trying to do?!

Gu YunZhou was roaring internally, but HuMing took the initiative to ask Xia Chen,

"Hey, what's your name?"

“You don’t know who I am?”

“…Why would I? I just transferred here.”

“She didn’t tell you about me?”

“She?” HuMing glanced past Xia Chen toward Gu YunZhou, who frowned in confusion.

Wait—Xia Chen knew HuMing? But he hadn’t been the one to tell him!

Gu YunZhou suddenly felt a chill despite the bright sunshine outside.

‘I swear I’m innocent!!!’

“Not cool. She didn’t even mention me! But seriously, what are you doing here in the capital?” Xia Chen didn’t answer HuMing’s question. Instead, he muttered to himself, lost in his own thoughts.

HuMing finally realized something was off.

This guy… knew about his past.

And the way he talked—it sounded like he was referring to someone he was quite familiar with.

“What’s your name?”

“Xia Chen. Xia as in summer, Chen as in morning training.”

“Xia…? Wait, the person you’re talking about—could it be…?”

If he had to name someone with the surname Xia whom he knew…

There was really only one possibility.

“Stop right there! Don’t say it. We have no connection!” Xia Chen quickly clapped a hand over his mouth, clearly not wanting HuMing to speak the name out loud.

But that reaction only confirmed HuMing’s suspicion.

This guy… was Xia XiaoXi’s older brother!

Now that was unexpected.

HuMing had initially thought Xia Chen was just acting weird for no reason. He never imagined he was actually Xia XiaoXi’s brother.

No wonder he hadn’t heard anything about him before.

“She said she didn’t know where you’d gone. Who’d have thought you’d end up in the capital?” Xia Chen rubbed his hands together with an amused grin.

HuMing eyed him warily.

‘These two siblings are both kind of weird…’

HuMing and Xia Chen started chatting just like that, while Gu YunZhou sat to the side, feeling utterly bewildered.

Wasn’t HuMing his cousin? So why did Xia Chen seem even more familiar with him than he was?

And Xia Chen—weren’t you the one who said the new transfer student wasn’t some celestial deity and that there was no need to make a big deal out of it?

Then why are you practically glued to my cousin right now?

Can you back off?!
