Transmigrating as an Extra Third-Rate Villain

Chapter 318 Lure [1]

As if hearing Liam's combatting thoughts, the voice sounded again in Liam's head.

What about him?

Every time... he has won.

Even against you.

Without a name being mentioned, Liam instantly knew who the voice was talking about.

How could he not?

In the battle royale, this person had out-strategized and beaten him without any doubt.

In a real physical battle, this person destroyed him and Kevin in a small and confined space, like a carriage.

That moment was forever marked in Liam's head, replaying every time he trained or fought in a battle against someone else.

Was he even the most powerful student in the first year anymore?

No...he knew the answer.

A long time ago, perhaps even before the Elven year for the World Tree battle, his number one place had been stolen.

By the very same person who was his enemy.

Someone of the complete opposite nature of him.

He had been surpassed.

But how?

He trained every day, sparred against another in the training hall with every second, and even had dozens of real-life experiences fighting.

What more could he do?

Responding to Liam's thoughts perfectly, the voice once again sounded.

What is the difference between him and you?

Seeing Liam's thoughts desperately scatter, attempting to find any sort of answer, the voice once again sounded.

He has nothing to lose...you have everything to lose.

Those people who you call "friends."

Are they really helping you?

Those morals you hold so close to your heart and care so much about...are they really helping you?

Or, just holding you down.

You are confined by yourself.

Let them go.

Your morals, your friends.

And rise.

Rise to the top...just like you have done before.

As the voice echoed through Liam's brain, his thoughts halted as if yielding to the opinions held by the unknown voice.

He was his own greatest enemy.

At that moment, Liam's pupils suddenly froze.

Unbeknownst to everyone in the room, something had just changed inside Liam's brain... like it had been rewired.

*BOOM*

A couple of seconds later, the sound of the ground being crushed echoed throughout the vault, entering from the tunnel that led outside to the underground space.

After a few moments, a familiar figure emerged from the gap that led into the vault from the underground space.

Seeing everyone surrounding the unknown body on the ground, Principal Seraphina didn't hesitate as she jumped forward.

Jumping from one side of the vault to the other, where the barricade was located, should have been impossible, but Seraphina made it look effortless as he gracefully flew through the air.

However, during that short period, when Seraphina crawled through the gap, and everyone surrounded the body, Ruby stepped backward.

Since Alya, Lily, Kazuki, Liam, and Irene were so focused on the body, nobody noticed her step away, which broke the formation around the body.

And seconds later, Kaneki climbed over the barricade with his hands, using the shelf brackets to hoist himself upward.

Immediately, he replaced the missing spot in the formation that Ruby had created when she left so nobody noticed her absence.

Backing away from the unknown figure as quietly as she could, Ruby sighed in relief as she felt her back touching the corner of the vault.

Looking to her right and left, Ruby spotted Raven and Zeng, who were just standing there stunned and confused.

How could they not be?

Their boss had completely disappeared, leaving them alone in the vault surrounded by enemies.

Adding to that all, the two even thought that the boss, who had saved both of them from their old and terrible lives, could have died.

They were also disguised as an academy security team, so when the others inevitably found out their identity, they were screwed.

There was no way out for them.

They couldn't just make a mad dash to the exit without being noticed.

If they stayed, their identities would eventually be found out when the principal arrived and began to investigate the whole situation.

It seemed hopeless.

There was no way they should survive...

But that didn't mean anything to Raven and Zeng anyway.

Raven was the future boss of the entire black market, so his ambition and vigor were unmatchable.

Working his way from the bottom to the top meant that Raven had to suffer through countless "hopeless" circumstances, so some situation like this wouldn't stop him from, at the very least, trying.

Zeng was a djinn who was used to being seen as a bad guy and as a terrible murderer, so this situation, where he was an enemy, wasn't anything new to him at all.

He had been through countless near-death missions, and instead of standing still in all of them, he had tried to escape, such as when he had switched sides to join Ren instead of dying.

To sum it all up, these two weren't the type of people who remained still like statues in hopeless situations.

No matter the circumstances, these two would always at least try to survive to their very last breath.

But...despite all of that...these two stood still.

It wasn't the fact that their situation was "hopeless" and almost impossible to survive that kept them still.

It was the fact...that they had just seen their "boss" possibly die right in front of them.

To Raven, Ren was always shameless and selfish from start to finish.

From the very start, he had shamefully pretended to be oblivious to Raven's fake swords and then suddenly revealed his knowledge after buying it to blackmail Raven.

Even now, Ren handed Raven tons of work and gave him impossible time limits that he knew Raven couldn't complete.

Worst of all, he did everything with a big smile, making it look like he was actually a good person!

His shamelessness was simply incomprehensible to everyone...but Raven.

Raven really did despise Ren for handing him so much work and putting him through situations like this.
