Transmigrating as an Extra Third-Rate Villain

Chapter 325Vault Battle [2]

As dark purple met the metal blade of Liam's sword head-on, Liam was instantly pushed back, but he managed to avoid being flung away.

Faltering under the pressure of the beam, Liam slowly backed away, his expression turning grim.

Noticing this, Zeng didn't hesitate to raise his other sword into the air and repeat the same exact motion.

Within seconds, another dark purple beam had bounced off the ceiling and was now heading at Liam's blade.

However, to Zeng's surprise, despite the fact that Liam had been standing in almost the same exact position, not a single sword had even touched him.

Even now, as Zeng controlled the beams, he had to occasionally move around to avoid the falling swords.

That meant that Liam, for the time Zeng moved around, could regain his composure and move closer and closer toward Zeng.

They were at a stalemate, but Liam held a small advantage over Zeng because of his advancing position.

If Liam got close enough, he would have a free strike right at Zeng.

Both of Zeng's swords were controlling beams, so he couldn't use them to parry an attack or slash from Liam if it were to come.

And, unlike Liam, who seemed to have immunity from the falling blades, Zeng couldn't just run away as he would be bombarded by blades from above.

Feeling the essence the beams needed starting to take an effect on his body, Zeng sighed and put his sword down.

Then, without a second thought, he dashed away from Liam while looking up at the ceiling and avoiding the swords.

By the time Liam had put down his blade and noticed the disappearance of the purple beams, Zeng was already outside the perimeter of the cloud.

As Liam canceled the blade storm, Zeng took the time and glanced around the room.

Why was he focusing on Liam?

Zeng knew from both Raven's words and the actions of the main cast that there was a danger hidden inside the vault. Your adventure continues at My Virtual Library Empire

He was a djinn...who thrived on destruction and chaos...so why was he hesitating?

Taking a glance behind him, Zeng spotted Raven's helpless figure standing in the corner with a small artifact in hand.

It was clear that he was somewhat nervous from the shaking of his legs, but his expression remained calm.

If Zeng attacked the room instead of Liam and let the danger in the vault out...it wouldn't be the only time his enemies died.

Raven would one hundred percent die, considering his lack of magical or combat skills, and Zeng himself also had a high chance due to his absence of movement ability.

Djinns couldn't learn abilities or skills like humans, so they were completely reliant on their demonic mana, supplied to them by demons, and their innate combat skills.

Then, just as Liam was about to charge forward, Zeng suddenly felt his body starting to weaken and give up.

His body, previously coursing full of energy and demonic mana, was now starting to falter.

Was his body fatigued... no it couldn't be.

The dark-purple hue surrounding his body and sword was slowly starting to diminish, and his muscles were retracting.

The demon...was taking back its power.

He was disappointed.

Despite the astronomical distance between his supervising demon and him, Zeng knew exactly what the demon wanted and why he was taking his power back.

He wanted chaos and destruction...and Zeng wasn't giving it to him.

Zeng was having a proper one-on-one with Liam, with no unfair tricks and no bringing other people in.

Just like Liam wasn't bringing the defenseless Raven into the fight, Zeng wasn't attacking the spectators behind Liam.

The demon wanted Zeng to take hostages by attacking the main cast, destroying the magical artifacts, and causing chaos.

Feeling his power start to dissipate and his legs begging to shake, Zeng groaned in pain.

If he fell now...it was over.

But, if he didn't fall and obeyed the demon's desires, the danger in the vault would be released.

It was a lose-lose situation.

In one of the situations, Zeng would be defeated by Liam as the demon revoked his power, causing both him and Raven to be imprisoned or die for their crimes of impersonation and assault.

But...in that situation, his enemies would come out on top as the main cast, principal, and two recruiters would be the same.

In the second scenario, everyone would die, and there would be no winners.

The answer was so simple... especially for a djinn like Zeng, yet he hesitated to point his sword at the magical artifacts nearby.

"...simpler times.."

Times when all he had to worry about was being yelled at by Raven for not finishing his work on time.

Times where he would rest on the couch and watch T.V. with Raven snacking beside him.

Times when Ren, he, and Raven could all joke around together and have fun.

There was so much the three of them hadn't done.

Had all three of them ever even been outside the warehouse on an official and fun outing?

As those memories replayed in his head, Zeng truly realized how much he had taken his time with Ren and Raven for granted.

Why had he been asleep and inspecting himself in the mirror all those times instead of spending time with his closest friends?

Taking another glance behind him and seeing Raven's expression filled with complete and utter rage, Zeng smiled.

Raven was telling him what decision to make.

Raven wanted to completely avenge Ren, taking down everyone in this room.

Yet...Zeng couldn't.

Wasn't the very reason he joined Ren and Raven to live a "normal life" without committing crimes or killing innocent people?@@novelbin@@

If he reverted back to his old self right now and killed everyone in the room by breaking the seal on the vault, what were all those times for?

It was exactly because of those times he had spent with Ren and Raven that Zeng hesitated.

If he took revenge now, then all his time with his two friends would have been a waste.

He wouldn't have learned anything.
