Transmigrating as an Extra Third-Rate Villain

Chapter 330Interlude [4]

Ren had come to realizer over time that he now had connections to this world...things tying him down.

And, instead of fighting against these chains that kept him in this new world, Ren embraced his new relationships, allowing him to form deeper bonds with Ruby, Raven, Zeng, Jin, and Han.

While this did come with drawbacks, as Ren could no longer only account for his survival but also those around him, complicating his plans, he wholeheartedly believed it was worth it.

Because...he was having fun.

Would the old Ren be back to run around in the snow with Ruby and have a campus-wide snowball fight?

Would the old Ren be able to lie down on the beach with his two subordinates while appreciating the beautiful sunset above?

No...he would be locked up in his room, planning or sleeping and suffering alone.

Smiling, Ren manifested three pairs of pitch-black sunglasses and placed them on Raven and Zeng's heads.

"So...you guys in?"

Putting the sunglasses on, the two boys sighed in unison before nodding their heads.

Both of them were probably exhausted from the entire mission.

Getting up, Ren prepared to take them back to the warehouse when he suddenly paused.

Wasn't he...forgetting something?

As if responding to his worry, Ren suddenly glanced upwards and spotted a familiar figure slowly floating down from the sky.

With her blonde hair swaying in the wind and her star-pupil eyes, Astrid made eye contact with Ren before descending onto the beach.

Seeing the sly smile on Astrid's face, Ren didn't even bother to ask which Astrid it was.

However, surprising Ren, Astrid suddenly halted as she approached him and slowly started to his right.

Following Astrid's gaze, Ren noticed that, for some reason, she was staring at Raven, who was lying down on the sand and staring up at the sky with his sunglasses on.

"...?"

Regaining his composure, the cloned Astrid approached Ren before waving and saying.

"Come to the student council office tomorrow after class."

Recalling how Ruby had described Astrid's part in his escape from the vault, Ren nodded his head in thanks before asking.

"Is it about the upcoming Winter Ball?"

As Astrid nodded her head, she slowly floated back up into the sky before landing on the bridge, which was a few meters above the beach they were currently on.

Shifting his gaze downwards, Ren stretched his hands for a moment before saying.

"You two should head back for now. Go crazy, order some food or whatever."

Immediately, the two boys glanced at each other and stood up. Even through their sunglasses, Ren could see their eyes shining.

Walking off the beach and into the capital city, Ren gave them one last glance before warning.

"I'll be there tomorrow, though..."

With those parting words, he climbed up to the bridge before walking towards the familiar and ever-so-ominous academy gates in the distance.

...

...

...

After arriving back in his comfortable dorm room, Ren immediately collapsed onto the bed, completely exhausted of all his mana.

While today had been successful, he had lost a considerable amount of corruption as the onslaught of attacks had destroyed the clothes he wore.

As Ren reminded himself to go hunting soon, he suddenly felt his smartwatch vibrate, but that wasn't weird alone.

It was the fact that his drawer had vibrated...not his wrist.

That meant that somebody had messaged his school-issued smartwatch, which he hadn't used in ages.

That meant a new number had just messaged him for the first time.

And...a. new number it was.

In the academy, finding a student's number was as simple as simple as typing their name in the directory.

Opening his drawer, Ren retrieved his dusty school smartwatch before sliding it onto his other wrist.

Since the school issued it, they likely had some access to it at the very least, so Ren always used his personal one.

Funnily enough, Ren vaguely recalled the exact reason he had never used school-issued electronics. Continue your adventure with My Virtual Library Empire

Back in elementary school, one of his friends had used one of the school-issued Chromebooks to email and chat with other students.

Of course, these chats had no filters, as the students never expected anyone besides themselves to see them.

That was until all the members in the chat were suddenly called into the office.

From that day forward, no student even dared to use their school-issued Chromebooks to play video games.

After finishing his reminiscing about his elementary school days, Ren reluctantly typed in the password to the smartwatch.

Scrolling through the various apps, Ren finally arrived at the messages app and clicked it open.

"..."

[Kaneki]

His brother...

Pausing for a moment, Ren hesitated as to whether or not to click the message.

Then, coming to a decision, Ren smiled and exited the messages app, going to the settings application instead.

After turning off "read receipts" for the messages app, Ren fearlessly clicked on his brother's name.

[Kaneki: Over winter break, come visit the manor. Father has allowed it.]

Resisting the urge to immediately type back, "Go fuck yourself," Ren put down his school smartwatch and went back to his bed.

There was no need to be rash...maybe this was the opportunity that he was looking for.

"Ren's" opportunity for Revenge.

There was also...the question about his younger sister.

Did she remember him?

Ren had seen her once...but then the world had been reset after the coliseum had suddenly exploded.

If she somehow retained her memories of that world before the reset, it could lead him to a clue about why and how he had been regressed.

However, there was still one question remaining.

"Father has allowed it."

For him to allow it...someone had to have requested it.

Unable to keep his eyelids open anymore, Ren succumbed to the feeling of sleep, allowing his thoughts to slow and his mind to drift off.

It was saddening.

Even after all he had gone through today...he only had a painful day of school awaiting him the next day.
