Chapter 1119: He Felt Like A Hero

“Damn, there are really two children!”
The tattooed man quickly covered his mouth and nose as he spotted two children, knocked down along with the door.
Truth be told, he had also heard from the neighbors that no one was supposed to be inside. But when that little girl looked at him so pleadingly, how could he refuse?
The children—a boy and a girl—were clearly siblings. The girl had already fainted from inhaling too much smoke, while her brother, though conscious, was weak and pinned beneath the fallen door.
Without hesitation, the tattooed man scooped them up—one in each arm—and carried them out of the burning house.
The crowd outside gasped in surprise.
“There really were kids inside!”
“I can’t believe the Shen couple left their children at home. Thank goodness that little girl spoke up, or the consequences would’ve been unimaginable.”
“And look at Tattooed! He actually ran into the fire to save them! I always thought he was trouble—heard he got arrested for fighting before. Maybe he’s not so bad after all.”
The tattooed man couldn’t help but feel that this was, without a doubt, the proudest moment of his life.
Ever since he had fought for his brother, he had been detained at the police station for ten days and a half. People around him looked at him as if he were a criminal capable of committing a crime at any moment.
But now, he felt like a hero.
“Little girl, I saved your friend,” the tattooed uncle said as he gently set the two children down.
The boy could barely stand, while the girl had already fainted.
The tattooed uncle glanced at the unconscious girl and added, “They’re both alive; she just fainted.”
Gu Yang looked at him with bright eyes and bowed. “Thank you, Uncle! You’re really a hero!”
The tattooed uncle laughed heartily.
Noticing that Shen Ran was still in a daze, he patted the boy’s head. “Hey, it’s all thanks to your little friend here. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known you were inside.”
Shen Ran looked at Gu Yang in confusion. He didn’t know her—could she be his sister’s friend from kindergarten?
But from what the uncle said, he should definitely thank this little girl.
He turned to Gu Yang. “Sister, thank you.”
Gu Yang replied, “No need to thank me; thank that uncle. He’s the one who saved you.”
Shen Ran looked at the tattooed uncle. “Thank you, Uncle.”@@novelbin@@
“What are you thanking me for? It’s only right to help when I see injustice.” He patted his chest and glanced at Shen Qin, still unconscious on the ground. “Kid, your sister is still out. I’ll take you both to the hospital.”
Shen Ran was at a loss. Upon hearing the tattooed uncle, he immediately took his hand. “Thank you, thank you!”
With the tattooed uncle’s help, Gu Yang felt relieved.
She turned back to her little gang of friends.
Shen Ran was about to ask Gu Yang for her name when he realized she had disappeared.
The little ones surrounded Gu Yang, gazing at her curiously.
Feng Jue asked hesitantly, “Sister, you really know them?”
Gu Yang shook her head. “I don’t know them, but I heard their cries for help. Maybe my hearing is just better.”
Before she saw the tattooed uncle bring the children out, she had felt uncertain herself. She wasn’t sure if she was hearing things, but she didn’t want to gamble with a human life. Lacking the ability to save anyone, she had decided to ask the tattooed uncle for help, figuring he looked strong enough to intervene.
Ideally, he would be willing to help; if not, she had planned to resort to a bit of hypnosis.
Everyone was pleased with how things had turned out.
Yet Gu Yang felt puzzled. When had her hearing become so acute?
In the past, she hadn’t noticed it, but now she realized that if she listened carefully, she could hear distant and subtle sounds.
Could this be a compensation for losing billions in assets, a way to regain her youth?
Gu Yang couldn’t quite understand.
What do you think?
