Gu Jin shared the news of Gu Yang waking up across several group chats: the Gu family group, Xiao family group, Team Blue Whale, the No.1 Middle School group, and more.
Upon hearing, even Xiao Dingkun and Xiao Zhenggan, who were busy with work, made their way to the hospital. Gu Zhaoming, in the middle of a meeting with company executives, stopped everything and rushed over.
It wasn’t the weekend, so Gu Pei and most of his friends from No.1 Middle School were in class. Still, as soon as they heard Gu Yang was awake, they skipped class to come see her.
Even Grandpa and Grandma Xiao hurried over to see her.
In less than an hour, the ward was filled with people.
Tong Wan and Ruan Xueling sat beside Gu Yang, their faces filled with excitement and joy. The two of them kept asking about Gu Yang’s situation.
“Yangyang, how do you feel now?”
“Are you feeling unwell?”
Gu Yang replied them patiently, “Sister said that I’m fine now. You don’t have to worry.”
Gu Pei looked at Gu Yang with red eyes and said firmly, “Sister, I’ve been practicing martial arts with Brother Xiao and the rest recently. I’ll protect you in the future too!”
Gu Yang smiled and nodded. “Okay.”
Xiao Yize gently patted Gu Yang’s head. “Sister, those bad people have been caught. No one will be able to hurt you again.”
“That’s right. We didn’t just sit around these past few months—we took down all their hideouts,” Xiao Cheng added, nodding toward Xiao Che and Gu Ying. “This was all thanks to Third Brother and Gu Ying. Their years of undercover work paid off.”
The men of the Xiao family were all strikingly handsome, and Xiao Che was no exception. He resembled Xiao Cheng, with fair skin, a strong, upright posture, and the dignified presence of a soldier.
His expression softened as he looked at Gu Yang. “Sister, I’m your third brother, Xiao Che.”
Gu Yang smiled. “Thank you, Third Brother.”
“Yangyang.” Gu Ying spoke her name softly, a hint of uncertainty in his cool demeanor, as if unsure whether she still remembered him.
Gu Yang turned to him, taking in how much he’d matured since her memories of him. She smiled warmly. “Shadow, long time no see.”
At the familiar nickname, Gu Ying’s face lit up, and Cao Cuo, Shen Ran, and Shen Qin looked surprised.
Sensing that Gu Yang and Team Blue Whale might want some privacy, Xiao Yize spoke up. “Sister just woke up and needs rest. Let’s give her some space. In two days, the Xiao family will host a banquet to celebrate her recovery.”
Gu Jin gave Xiao Yize an approving look, and he smiled slightly.
“Yes, yes, let my granddaughter rest. We can go back for now,” Old Master Xiao agreed.
Soon, only Gu Yang, Gu Jin, Feng Jue, Cao Cuo, Gu Ying, Shen Ran, and Shen Qin remained in the room.
“Yangyang, you remember now?” Shen Ran eagerly asked, squeezing forward with an excited expression.
But Gu Yang’s face grew stern as she looked at him. “Shen Ran, do you remember what you promised me? I saved you back then because I wanted you to live fully, not waste your life.”
Though Shen Ran was scolded, he was still practically bouncing with excitement. “I know, Yangyang. I was wrong.”
He admitted his fault, but his expression showed little remorse.@@novelbin@@
Gu Yang’s brows knit slightly, her face serious. Without thinking, she blurted out, “Then go back and copy ancient poems and literature a hundred times for the College Entrance Examination. Make sure you memorize them.”
Back in the Cloud Rising Orphanage, Shen Ran was the most mischievous and dreaded punishment by copying books. Gu Yang had long mastered the art of handling this mischievous monkey.
At her words, Shen Ran looked close to tears, but a smile broke through. “Yangyang, I memorized those ancient poems ages ago.”
Shen Qin chuckled, glancing at Gu Yang. “When Older Brother was recovering, he had nothing to do in his room, so he spent all day copying books.”
What do you think?
