Chapter 1188: Extra Chapter: Ning Shen

Inside the envelope was a transfer of shares and property.

Ning Shen had signed over all his shares in the Ning Corporation, along with his domestic and international assets, to Ning Gui. Notably, he had completed the paperwork just before the New Year—before his involvement in Gu Yang’s kidnapping and subsequent arrest.

It seemed Ning Shen had planned this well in advance. Regardless of the outcome of the light cone experiment, he had decided to transfer all his assets to Ning Gui.

“Miss Ning Gui,” the butler said gently, “Young Master Ning wanted you and your mother to have this as his way of making amends. He insisted that you must accept it.”

Ning Gui reviewed each document carefully, then took them all.

...

The butler looked relieved. “Young Master Ning has regained consciousness. He hopes you might visit him.”

Ning Gui nodded softly before heading inside to pack.

Once in the car, Mrs. Ning noticed Ning Gui sifting through the documents Ning Shen had left her. She frowned, concerned. “Gui… you’re not thinking of seeing him, are you?”

She knew the complicated relationship between Ning Shen and Ning Gui. Although Ning Shen had been cold and ruthless with everyone else, he had always treated Ning Gui differently.

He had bestowed her with the title of the Ning family’s eldest daughter, ensuring that the family treated her—though not related by blood—with the highest respect.

Since childhood, Ning Shen had indulged Ning Gui’s every need. Yet, his one ironclad rule was to keep her from getting close to others.

In the past, his aloof charm had captivated many young women from prominent families. Mrs. Ning feared her daughter might fall for his allure as well.

Ning Gui herself was unsure if any attachment lingered, but it hardly mattered now. Their paths would diverge entirely from here on.

After moving, Ning Gui visited the Xiao family. She handed the documents over to Xiao Yize, who was taken aback. During their investigation, they had noticed Ning Shen transferring assets, assuming he was stashing them abroad to evade confiscation. They hadn’t expected him to leave everything to her.

“I know he committed many wrongs,” Ning Gui said softly, eyes downcast. “A lot of this is tainted. Please, handle it as you see fit.”

Xiao Yize nodded. “Once we separate the legal assets, we’ll return those to you.”

Ning Gui shook her head. “There’s no need. Any part that’s his, let him bear.”

Xiao Yize nodded.

“Is Yangyang here?” Ning Gui asked again.

Xiao Yize looked at his watch and said, “She should be in the capital’s mental hospital now. She’s staying at the Gu family’s house recently. If you want to look for her, you can wait for her at the Gu family’s house.”

Ning Gui nodded and asked, “Can I go and see Ning Shen?”

Xiao Yize: “Sure, look for Lin Ran or Chu Ying about this.”

At the capital’s psychiatric hospital.

Gu Yang was giving Ji Minghui psychological treatment.

Years ago, Ryan had imprisoned Ji Minghui in a mental hospital. To ensure he couldn’t escape, he had manipulated him into genuinely losing his memory, turning him into an actual patient with severe mental trauma.

After nearly five years of confinement, Ji Minghui’s mind was deeply scarred. For the past few months, Gu Yang had been working diligently to treat him, with Ji Linbai by her side, concerned and assisting in every session.

“You can open your eyes now,” Gu Yang gently prompted.

Ji Minghui opened his eyes to see a golden Frazer spiral illusion card spinning before him. The rapid whirl of the golden spiral seemed to reach into his mind, unlocking a door to long-buried memories.
