Chapter 24 - 24 24 Just Want to Live Off You_1
Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Just Want to Live Off You_1 Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Just Want to Live Off You_1 Qi Yunjue was trying to insist that he was not some gigolo mooching off a rich woman.
If she wished, he could provide her with everything she wanted!
But upon thinking of the things he had discovered about her, the words caught in his throat.
Having endured both betrayal and heartbreak, her heart had long since closed off.
To break through these defenses, he would need abundant patience and time to wait.
And patience was something he had aplenty!
With a deepened gaze, Qi Yunjue seemed to ask in a casual manner, “Are you really okay with me being a kept man?”
The sudden close proximity of their breaths made Yan Ling’s heartbeat quicken unconsciously.
She swallowed nervously, chuckled nervously and replied, “Of course, as long as it’s not about deception or fraud, what’s wrong with keeping a man? Some people even wish they could do it yet don’t get to.”
Upon hearing the girl’s reply, Qi Yunjue said cryptically, “But I only want to be kept by you.”
Yan Ling thought she had misheard, asking in shock, “What?”
“I said, I am someone who honors contracts very much. Until our marriage license is revoked, no one else can replace you!” Qi Yunjue said as he looked at her.
Even though his statement was very normal, Yan Ling’s heart started to race uncontrollably.
She couldn’t deny that she did have a tiny bit of a special feeling for Qi Yunjue.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have felt so secure to pass out in his arms.
But having experienced betrayal before, she had already given up on holding expectations towards relationships.
To avoid being dazzled by his charm, she abruptly changed the subject, “I just remembered, I have a patient consultation this morning…”
Seeing her dodge the subject, Qi Yunjue did not press her further, instead reminding her, “There’s breakfast on the table. Eat before you leave.”
Seeing the plentiful breakfast spread on the table, Yan Ling was emotionally moved.
Honey water, chicken congee, udon noodles with sauce, the foods that relieved hangovers, nourished the stomach, and were nutritious.
It was clear that someone had put a lot of thought into this breakfast.
She hadn’t been taken care of like this in a long time.
“Let’s eat together! There’s too much breakfast for me alone,” Yan Ling offered.
Qi Yunjue, as if knowing she would invite him, naturally sat down at the table and kindly passed the honey water to her.
Yan Ling took the honey water, said a word of thanks, then silently started eating her breakfast, her head bowed.
After breakfast, they both left the apartment.
“I’m in a bit of a hurry. Can I drop you off at the subway station?” Yan Ling asked, glancing at her phone.
“Sure.”
Assistant Jin, who had intentionally driven over to pick him up, couldn’t help but inwardly grumble.
Was it really necessary? It was just a five-minute drive, yet they couldn’t spare even that bit of time.
Indeed, the subway station was very close to where Yan Ling lived.
As she was in a rush, she didn’t say much more. After bidding Qi Yunjue goodbye, she left.
Watching her red car disappear down the road, Qi Yunjue then stepped into the nearby black Maybach.
Assistant Jin noticed their lord’s expression seemed a little off after getting into the car. He tentatively asked, “Lord Qi, is your headache coming back?”
Ever since that night five years ago, his lord had not suffered from his headaches.
Why had it suddenly returned?
Qi Yunjue massaged his temples, waiting for the raging heat within his body to dissipate before speaking in a hoarse voice, “I’m fine. Let’s change our route to Royal Food Hall.”
Assistant Jin was filled with question marks.
Why would his lord want to go to Royal Food Hall at this time?
In half an hour, they were supposed to be discussing a billion-dollar project.
Was he planning to change the location of their negotiations?
But didn’t Lord Qi have a principle of never discussing business while eating?
What do you think?
