Chapter 4: (3/8)

Before Kain could say anything else, the Empress Ice Gargoyle charged toward and casted [Freeze] to temporarily freeze the Phantom Knight with the intent of having an opportunity to kill Kain in one hit. If Kain dies, all of his conjured creatures will automatically be banished. Kain did not have time to give out an order for his Skeleton Warriors to protect him. However, one of the Skeleton Warriors jumped in front of Kain to take the hit for him. One strike killed one Skeleton. Another Skeleton jumped out to protect Kain and was also killed. No other Skeleton Warrior should be fast enough to jump out now. The Empress Gargoyle swung her Ice Scythe down on Kain's head. As the Ice Scythe was about to touch Kain's head, it was blocked by an Astral Sword.

"Hmm?" The Empress Ice Gargoyle was confused.

It has been only two seconds, how could that Phantom Knight get out of her [Freeze] that fast? The Phantom Knight used her strength to throw a powerful punch at the Empress Gargoyle, but the punch was blocked by the Empress Ice Gargoyle's tail.

The Phantom Knight said, "Alereth, do not think of killing my conjurer that easy."

Receiving a minor injury from the Phantom Knight's punch, the Empress Ice Gargoyle used the special ability, [Self Recovery], to heal her tail. The Empress Ice Gargoyle said, "Oh, It is you, Imreia. Long time no see."

"Shall we continue what we have left off last time?"

"Indeed." The Empress Ice Gargoyle raised her Ice Scythe and swung at the Phantom Knight.

Listening to the Empress Ice Gargoyle (Alereth) and the Phantom Knight (Imreia) talk, Kain and Lora could have guessed that those two have a history with each other. Perhaps they were both conjured and fought with each other before. Or they could have come from the same realm and fight with each other all the time.

Lora commanded the Ice Guardian as she pointed her finger at Kain., "Cast [Ice Spear] toward that magic caster."

"No can do."

"Why not? He is vulnerable."

"You no me summon. Me no do you."

"Do me what? I'm telling you to cast [Ice Spear] at him."

"Me guard you." The Ice Guardian casted [Ice Barrier] on Lora and itself.

The Ice Guardian refused to listen to Lora because she was not the one that summoned it, Alereth did. Alereth gave it a specific command, which is to protect Lora. That will be its only objective. On the other side, Kain did not give the command for his Skeleton Warriors to attack Lora because he knew the Ice Guardian would spam [Ice Barrier] to guard her. Right now, the best they both can do is watch the fight between Alereth and Imreia.

Alereth casted [Ice Spear] four times and commanded it to attack Imreia. Four Ice Spears flew toward Imreia but were quickly destroyed by her Astral Sword. Imreia returned by using her Astral Bow and shot four times at Alereth. Four Astral Arrows were created in mid-air and flew toward Alereth. Alereth simply casted [Ice Barrier] to protect herself by blocking those four Astral Arrows. Three Astral Arrows were blocked, but the last one penetrated through Alereth, creating a hole in her stomach. Screamed out loud in pain, Alereth still managed to heal the hole on her stomach using [Self Recovery].

In anger, Alereth casted [Death Frost] and a circle formed under Kain's feet. A Skeleton Warrior rushed over and knocked Kain out of the circle. A second later, that Skeleton was frozen and exploded. Kain got back on his feet as he saw Imreia cut Alereth's tail off.

Imreia said, "Next time you lose focus, it will be your head instead."

Alereth's tail grew back as she healed herself. "Haah... In that case... Ice Guardian, attack that magic caster." Alereth said that while pointing her right index finger at Kain.

The Ice Guardian casted [Ice Spear] five times. Five Ice Spears floated around in a circle waiting for the command to attack. The Ice Guardian gave the command for the Ice Spears to fly toward Kain. Kain also gave the command for his Skeleton Warriors to surround and protect him. Five Ice Spears were blocked by the Skeleton Warriors and fell on the ground. But it floated back up and attempted to attack Kain again. Another five Skeletons successfully blocked it. After four times of repeatedly getting blocked, the Ice Spears faded away. Kain looked back and saw twenty more Ice Spears were flying toward him. This time, those twenty Ice Spears flew in a straight line. As a Skeleton blocked the first Ice Spear, the second Ice Spear immediately penetrated through it.

Another Skeleton Warrior was standing behind and managed to block the second Ice Spear. But that Skeleton was penetrated by the third Ice Spear. Any blocked Ice Spears still have the strength to float back up and will continue flying in a straight line toward Kain. Just like that, a total of twenty-five Ice Spears were casted by the Ice Guardian. Forty-seven Skeleton Warriors were killed, only nineteen left.

The Ice Guardian casted [Ice Spear] twelve more times, twelve Ice Spears flew toward Kain in a spread formation. This time the Skeleton Warriors were no longer act like stupid shits but they actually created a new strategy. Twelve of them stay to defend against those twelve Ice Spears while the other seven Skeletons charged toward Lora and the Ice Guardian. After being blocked several times by the twelve Skeleton Warriors, twelve Ice Spears faded away. Still, seven Skeleton Warriors were killed in the process of stopping those twelve Ice Spears. Looking over at Loras location, Kain could see that the Ice Guardian did not cast any other [Ice Spear] spell due to it being busy spamming [Ice Barrier] on Lora and itself as the seven Skeletons furiously attack. Alereth was fighting equally with Imreia while her body started to fade. Alereth said, "Looks like you have won this time as my Conjurer is dead. Imreia, we shall continue next time."

However, her body quickly stopped fading and appeared to be normal again. Alereth, Imreia, and Kain were surprised as they thought Lora was killed. Yes, Lora was dead. But it was only for a second as she was instantly revived due to [Second Life] being cast earlier.

Lora smiled and said, "Warm-up time is over. I will show you the big difference between a level 30 Conjurer Mage and the level 25 Conjurer Mage."

Lora casted [Conjure Phantom Knight], [Conjure Thunder Eagle], and [Conjure Fire Demon], three creatures were conjured. The Phantom Knight and Fire Demon could easily crush the seven Skeleton Warriors that killed Lora earlier while the Thunder Eagle headed straight forward for Kain. Kain was still being protected by five Skeleton Warriors. But everyone knows that those five Skeleton Warriors are no match for a Thunder Eagle.
