Chapter 498 - 541 Death God Valley
Chapter 498: Chapter 541 Death God Valley
Chapter Five Hundred Forty-One
After Gedanwei hastily ran out and disappeared,
Lan Wan’er immediately got up from the ground.
“Are you sure this kid will obediently bring Song Yi over as instructed?” Long Xiaoshan said with a furrowed brow as he looked at her.
“Don’t worry. He might seem arrogant and unstoppable, but that’s only because he relies on his father. In reality, he’s a coward at heart and fears death like nothing else. He will definitely help you and bring her over,” Lan Wan’er said with certainty.
Long Xiaoshan sized up Lan Wan’er from head to toe.
...
“Master, why do you look at me like this? It’s not like you haven’t hit me enough just now,” Lan Wan’er said, her eyes brimming with an unspeakable grievance and pity.
“Stop pretending. Tell me, what are you up to by staying with the Serpent Witch Sect?”
“Hehe, nothing can be hidden from you, Master,” Lan Wan’er said snuggly as she clung onto Long Xiaoshan’s arm.
“Don’t try that with me,” Long Xiaoshan said sternly. “I really wanted to kill you the day you kidnapped Song Yi because you dared to betray me. But later on I thought about it, and it didn’t seem right. Your kidnapping of Song Yi was probably to force me to leave, since staying would have been very dangerous for me. However, if your intention was to save me, why didn’t you warn me about the Young Master of the Serpent Witch Sect earlier? Instead, you hung around me, leading me astray. So, I suspect you definitely have another motive: not wanting me dead, but not wanting to let me go either. Of course, if I hadn’t been capable, I wouldn’t have made it out alone that day and might have been killed by you.”
“Hehe, Master, you’re so powerful, how could you possibly die? Besides, we have the love gu between us. If you really died, what good would it do me?” Lan Wan’er said ingratiatingly.
“Nice words,” Long Xiaoshan muttered, not believing a word about the love gu ensuring mutual death. At the very least, Lan Wan’er surely had a way to survive.
He waved his hand and said, “Enough with the nonsense. Just tell me what you’re really after.”
Lan Wan’er’s expression became serious as she asked, “Master, have you ever heard of Death God Valley?”
“Death God Valley?” Long Xiaoshan frowned for a moment before shaking his head. “Never heard of it.”
“That’s normal. Death God Valley is quite famous in the Southern Ocean region, but not many from Hua Country know about it. It’s on an island in the Southern Ocean, a very mysterious forbidden area. I heard about this place from… my past connections. Despite the frightening name, and the fact that it’s extremely dangerous inside, those who make it out can reap great benefits, especially for those who practice witchcraft. The benefits within Death God Valley are plentiful. Hence, the powers of the Southern Ocean have always controlled this place; whenever Death God Valley opens, these powers will enter to find treasures and prevent forces from outside the Southern Ocean from entering,” Lan Wan’er explained.
Long Xiaoshan’s gaze shifted slightly and he said, “So, you joined the Serpent Witch Sect with the aim of targeting Death God Valley?”
“Exactly. The Serpent Witch Sect is a major power in the Southern Ocean, and of course, they can enter Death God Valley. Joining them was indeed my goal,” Lan Wan’er replied.
“Oh,” Long Xiaoshan responded indifferently after listening.
Lan Wan’er had talked so much only to receive such a tepid response from Long Xiaoshan.
Her chest heaved as she saw Long Xiaoshan showing no sign of further questioning, and she couldn’t help but say, “Master, don’t you have anything to say?”
“What’s there to say? If you want to go, then go. I’m not stopping you,” Long Xiaoshan said nonchalantly, spreading his hands.
“Heartless Master,” Lan Wan’er looked at him with a mournful expression. “Aren’t you afraid I’ll die in Death God Valley? It’s said to be particularly dangerous there. Although I’ve joined the Serpent Witch Sect, I know those sorcerers are incredibly selfish. If real danger comes, I, an outsider, will surely be the first one to be abandoned. How tragic is that?”
“If it’s so tragic, why rush into it and court death? You don’t have to go.”
“No, I have to. There’s something I need in Death God Valley. I must make the trip,” Lan Wan’er insisted, swaying Long Xiaoshan’s arm with a pleading tone. “Master, will you accompany me, please? Will you?”
“No, I won’t. Why should I go? I have things to do,” Long Xiaoshan replied heartlessly.
“Come on, please?” Lan Wan’er was nearly draped all over Long Xiaoshan, who was still resisting with a strong will.
A moment later, anticipating that the Young Master of the Serpent Witch Sect might return with Song Yi, he said, breathless, “Alright, get off me.”
“I won’t, unless you promise to accompany me to Death God Valley.”
“Is your backside itching for another beating? Get off me now!” Long Xiaoshan barked.
A flicker of fear clearly crossed Lan Wan’er’s face—Long Xiaoshan’s blows truly spared no mercy. But biting her lip, she clung tighter around Long Xiaoshan’s waist and said, “I won’t get off. It’s no use beating me; I won’t budge even if it kills me; go ahead and hit me…”
At that moment, Long Xiaoshan found himself with a headache. About to say something, he suddenly heard footsteps. With a glance through his Heavenly Eye, he saw Gedanwei actually returning with Song Yi, while Lan Wan’er was still stubbornly clinging to him.
“Fine, fine, I agree. Now let go,” Long Xiaoshan was all out of patience with this nuisance of a Demon Fairy.
Lan Wan’er let out a giggle as she jumped off Long Xiaoshan, a triumphant look on her face.
She knew better than anyone how powerful Long Xiaoshan was—he was the most capable man she had ever met, flawless in every aspect. Not only was he strong, but he also knew much—capable of alchemy, skilled in array formations, and even familiar with medicine.
But what was most important was that she knew Long Xiaoshan was far more dependable than anyone from the Serpent Witch Sect.
When real danger came, this man would never abandon her; otherwise, she wouldn’t be so insistent on having Long Xiaoshan help her.
What do you think?
