Chapter 562: Later Generations

Waiting for the Dimensional Pirates to return and pick them up was definitely not viable.

Not to mention whether there was enough food and water on The Moon to last them so many days, Ma Lu had to soon participate in the God of Cooking competition and couldn't afford to just wait around on The Moon.

Moreover, if the Dimensional Pirates were wiped out somewhere, they would be stuck on The Moon forever.

Luckily, Old Wang acted swiftly to solve this problem, using the ingredients Ma Lu had newly brought back.

He cooked a dish called Memorial Taco using the Film Avocado.

This dish utilized the characteristic of the Film Avocado, which could freeze frames, allowing the consumer to return to the frozen place within a certain time limit.

This way, Ma Lu didn't have to worry about getting stranded on The Moon.

Seeing that everything was ready, Ma Lu informed Yan Wu and Lao Hei, who then went to negotiate once again with the Dimensional Pirates and set the departure time for Tuesday night.

Although spending money could get you into space these days, traveling to The Moon was still something money couldn't buy.

The last time humans had set foot on The Moon was in 1952, during the Apollo 17 mission, which was more than fifty years ago.

Since then, no one had gone back to The Moon.

There were endless mysterious tales about The Moon, and Ma Lu was excited for the chance to see it for himself.

Not to mention, there was a spaceship of his own waiting there.

The agreed day soon arrived, and Ma Lu opened his business earlier than usual that day, only to find that all the dishes were sold out by three in the afternoon.

After cleaning up, Ma Lu drove Old Wang and Ma Youyou home, and then drove to Yan Wu's hardware store.

Werewolf Boss was chatting with a customer.

She was a woman in her thirties, wearing earrings and with well-kept skin and complexion, clearly someone who didn't have to hustle for a living and her smile carried a child-like innocence.

It was also the first time Ma Lu saw Yan Wu speak so gently.

"Well, I checked last time and found no leaks, so don't worry. As for the situation you mentioned about your family going on a trip abroad but the water meter still running...

"It might be the check valve that's malfunctioning. I can come and change it for you when you have time."

"Really? That's great. I thought someone sneaked into my house for a moment and it scared me. Can Boss Yan change it now?" the woman sighed in relief.

"Let's make it a bit later, pick a time tomorrow or the day after. I still have some things to do in a moment," Yan Wu said, glancing at the entering Ma Lu.

"Alright, that sounds good. Then we'll schedule another time, Boss Yan. I won't keep you from your business."

After the woman spoke, she headed towards her ES8 parked outside, but failed to open the door.

Ma Lu coughed and pointed beside her, "Yours is that one over there."

"Oh, oh, sorry," the woman said with an apologetic smile. "My husband always says I'm scatterbrained all day long."

"No worries," Ma Lu said politely.

As the woman's ES8 drove away, Yan Wu turned back only to see Ma Lu staring at him with twinkling eyes, and he snorted coldly.

"Sleazy."

"Come on, you're blaming me for being sleazy? Did you not hear what she just said? She's a married woman, leading a happy life; what right do you have to interfere?"

"When have I ever interfered?" Yan Wu said sternly, "Our relationship is just that of a regular hardware store owner and a customer."

"I'm not blind. The way you looked at her and the tone of your voice were definitely not how you treat a regular customer,"

Ma Lu clasped Werewolf Boss's shoulder, educating him with emphasis, "Old Yan, I know you run a hardware store alone, dealing with wrenches and screwdrivers, it's lonely. That's human nature, but you can't lust after a married woman...

"What nonsense are you spouting," Yan Wu became a bit impatient, "All right, all right, she is my great-granddaughter."

"Ah?"

"If you want to know our relationship, I've just told you," Yan Wu said.

"Isn't there only one werewolf on Earth," Ma Lu was surprised, "Is she your offspring with a..."

"A human descendant."

"Is she a werewolf or a human?"

"Let's say... human," Yan Wu said, "In theory, a union between a human and a werewolf results in a werewolf, but human bodies are too fragile to endure the pain of carrying a werewolf baby.

"If a human female really got pregnant with a werewolf child, it would often end tragically—within a few months, the growing baby would tear open the mother's belly or kick apart her organs.

"Realizing the terrible mistake, I sought the Korn Clan, swapped something for a bottle of Eternal Exhaustion Poison, and injected it into the baby's body to save both the mother and child's life.

"The Eternal Exhaustion Poison suppresses the werewolf genes in the baby, ensuring she and her descendants can live on in human form.

"However, to be sure the Eternal Exhaustion Poison does not weaken due to genetic reasons, I'm still keeping an eye on those with werewolf genes in them,"

the hardware store owner explained.

"Oh, so that's the story."

Ma Lu had noticed Yan Wu's care for the woman earlier, which was likely not just to check the effectiveness of the Eternal Exhaustion Poison, but he didn't mention it.

It was no surprise that this old werewolf who had lived on Earth for so long had a few relationships and offspring.

Ma Lu didn't intend to pry into the old man's romantic life and changed the subject, "Is the gear for walking around on The Moon ready?"

Yan Wu nodded and then pulled out a cardboard box from behind the counter,

Inside the box were two mascot suits.

"This is..."

"Space Wanderer Suit I, capable of shielding the wearer from cosmic radiation, providing oxygen, and maintaining body temperature."

"Is this a High-Dimensional Artifact?"

"No, just a high-tech product, though it's not cheap either. Remember to return it after use."

"But why only two suits? Didn't I tell you three people are going, including Old Black?"

"These were meant for you two. I don't need them," Yan Wu proudly said, "My body is the best protective suit."

"Alright, then how much for these?" Ma Lu thought for a moment, feeling he might need them again in the future.

"You want them? 8000 Star Currency per suit."

"That's too expensive, these aren't even High-Dimensional Artifacts," Ma Lu bargained.

"But these are the last two on Earth," the hardware store owner was unmoved, "You better decide quickly; if someone else buys them, don't say I didn't warn you."

"Okay, I'll try them first, and if there's no issue, I'll pay when I return." Ma Lu then asked, "Did you bring the spaceship repair tools?"

"Got them, got them, stop nagging, let's go."
