Chapter 824 - Summoned by the Princess
Qi Xue dared to visit him?
After abandoning Chen Fan, she accused him of betrayal, even directing killing intent at him when Yan Shuiyi invited him to be her guardian.
And now, she had the audacity to show up?
“Let her in,” Chen Fan said calmly, curious about her reason for coming.
“Alright,” Yan Shuiyi replied, heading to the stairs. She spotted Qi Xue below, still radiant and exuding an extraordinary aura. Even as a fellow woman, Yan Shuiyi had to admit Qi Xue’s allure outshone hers.
“Come up,” Yan Shuiyi said faintly.
Below, Qi Xue slightly furrowed her brow. The last-ranked demon general would never have spoken to her this way. But now, as Chen Fan’s steward, Yan Shuiyi carried more authority than ever.
Though displeased, Qi Xue quickly masked her emotions.
Times had changed—she no longer had the standing to act superior.
“Go in,” Yan Shuiyi said, remaining outside the hall as was her duty.
Qi Xue stepped into the majestic demon palace hall alone and saw Chen Fan sitting high up on the demonic chair.
When Qi Xue first met Chen Fan, she had stood atop the stairs, looking down as she appointed him her guard.
Now the roles had reversed. Chen Fan sat in the imposing demonic chair, while she stood below.
“Qi Xue pays respect to the third demon general.” Qi Xue greeted him with a half bow, her tone calm and unassuming. It seemed like a routine visit to show respect to a superior.
Demon generals of the sect were flexible, knowing when to bow and submit or when to stand tall. Qi Xue’s rise from lowly status proved her ability to navigate these dynamics.
Had Chen Fan not intervened, her ranking would have climbed rather than fallen. This said much about her temperament.
If she were blindly proud and arrogant, she wouldn’t have visited Chen Fan. Since Qi Xue was here, it meant she wanted to mend their enmity.
After all, leaving a powerful figure like Chen Fan—who had killed Dou Yan—hostile toward her would be dangerous.
“Qi Xue.” Chen Fan stood up and walked down from the demonic chair. He descended the steps, stopping directly before her, his gaze sharp and unrestrained.
Qi Xue looked at Chen Fan calmly, not showing any fluctuations in her emotions.
“Not gouging my eyes out anymore?” Chen Fan said with a smile.
Back then, a mere glance at her had earned him that threat.
“Lord Demon General must be joking,” Qi Xue said, “If I’ve offended you in the past, I humbly ask for forgiveness. If you need me to do something to make up for it, please just say the word.”
“Is that so?” Chen Fan stepped closer, nearly pressing against her. His hand encircled her slender waist, the warmth of her skin faintly perceptible.
Qi Xue trembled slightly. A trace of panic flashed across her beautiful eyes before a cold gleam surfaced.
“What if I want you to decide how to make up for it?” Chen Fan asked, tilting her chin up with his finger.
Meeting his gaze, Qi Xue quickly regained her composure. With an indifferent tone, she said, “Cultivation is above all else for those in the demonic path. The body is but a bag of skin. If Lord Demon General desires this body, I will not refuse.”
“Hoho.” Chen Fan chuckled, releasing her.
He felt her subtle relief. No woman was indifferent about her body, no matter how composed they appeared.
“Do one thing for me with all your strength,” he said, turning back toward the demonic chair. “Prove yourself, and I’ll forget the past.”
Chen Fan ascended the throne, exuding an air of absolute authority.
Qi Xue sighed in her heart. The Chen Fan who once served as her guard, the teasing Chen Fan moments ago, and the commanding figure before her now—who was the real him?
“Please instruct me, Lord Third Demon General,” Qi Xue said.
“Help me find a person. If you find him, don’t alarm him. Just report back immediately,” Chen Fan instructed, transmitting Mu Tianfang’s image to Qi Xue through his divine will.
“Alright.”
“You may leave.” Chen Fan waved his hand.
Qi Xue said her goodbyes and walked out of the demon palace hall, taking a deep breath.
Her inner clothes clung damply to her skin—she hadn’t been as composed as she appeared.
If Chen Fan had used their past feud as an excuse to do something to her, given her strength, she wouldn’t have been able to resist.
On the demonic path, strength ruled, and cultivators acted as they pleased. As long as Chen Fan did not kill her, the higher-ups would not care.
Time slowly passed, and another half a month went by.
During this time, Chen Fan’s cultivation advanced yet again, breaking through to the eighth-level Heavenly Star realm.
His combat strength surged, aided by the Martial Dao Wills of Pan Huan and Dou Yan, as well as a trophy from Dou Yan.
Yan Shuiyi walked into the demon palace hall and said with a smile, “Congratulations to Lord Demon General for reaching the next level in your cultivation.”
Chen Fan nodded with a sense of tranquility. The fear-inducing aura of a demon general was nowhere to be seen. He asked, “Is there any news?”
Yan Shuiyi shook her head and said, “Not yet.”
Chen Fan wasn’t surprised. The Myriad Demon Islands were vast—finding someone wouldn’t be quick. Even with the influence of the Xuan Ting Demon Sect, it was merely casting a few extra nets.
Patience was his only option.
Suddenly, a voice from outside the demon palace hall caught Chen Fan’s attention.
“Reporting to Lord Demon General, the princess’ personal attendant has come and wants to meet you.”
The princess’ personal attendant?
Chen Fan frowned slightly. He had no connection to the princess.
His divine will swept over, and Chen Fan saw an expert hovering in the sky outside the demon palace hall. It was the princess’ personal attendant, waiting for him to come out and meet him.
Chen Fan did not try to conceal his divine will. The attendant also sensed it and gazed toward the demon palace hall. @@novelbin@@
His gaze was extremely sharp, piercing through the demon palace hall as if trying to see Chen Fan. Those eyes were extremely proud.
The attendants serving the princess and Demon King Xuan Ting were chosen from among the strongest demon generals, making them both powerful and exceptionally proud.
Clearly, this one expected Chen Fan to come out and greet him.
Chen Fan chuckled, and his voice resounded clearly as he said, “Come in.”
Yan Shuiyi’s irises shrank violently.
She knew how much Demon King Xuan Ting doted on the princess. Therefore, those under her command held elevated statuses, often disregarding demon generals entirely.
The attendant wanted Chen Fan to go out and meet him, but Chen Fan told him to come inside instead.
When the personal attendant heard Chen Fan, he shook slightly. An extremely sharp light burst from his eyes, but he did not move.
“Didn’t you hear me?” Chen Fan said coldly.
The guards outside the demon palace, visibly trembling, hurriedly said to the attendant, “Lord Demon General has granted you permission to enter the hall for a meeting.”
A cold look flashed across the attendant’s eyes. He didn’t need anyone to relay Chen Fan’s words.
Standing firm, he replied with a frosty tone, “Third Demon General Chen Fan, by the order of the princess, you are to come see her. Farewell.”
The attendant turned sharply, flinging his sleeves as he departed without another word.
What do you think?
