The faces of his parents flashed in his mind as his head turned in the direction of his house.

He rushed to his wooden house, storming inside impatiently, and seeing the sight inside, his eyes widened in horror.

"No!!" He bellowed in pain. "Maa, Dada, Wake up!" Tears rolled down his face.

"Don’t leave me. Please..." His voice became hoarse.

"How will I continue living without you?" He fell to his knees, his gaze dazed and lost.

"Please... Anyone... someone... say this is a dream..., a nightmare..."

As he muttered this, the poison had taken effect as his mind began to slow down, his eyes becoming drippy.

At this moment, one thought flashed in his mind.

Who did this?

The sadness he had felt a moment ago suddenly turned into anger.

"Who did this??!!" He yelled like a bull, his eyes red with fury.

"I will kill them. The one who took my parents from me, I’ll kill them!! AAARRRGGHHH!"

However, the poison had already taken effect.

Though his anger kept him awake, however, it couldn’t save him from the poison.

Suddenly, he fell to the ground, becoming unconscious.

I heard a unfamiliar voice, shouting close to me.

I didn’t know what was happening. My mind was foggy.

I then heard footsteps approaching me before stopping beside me.

This was another unfamiliar voice. I also felt someone slapping me lightly on the cheek and shaking my body.

"Senior Brother, that’s not how you treat a patient. Let’s take him to the sect for treatment."

"Alright."

I then felt someone picking me up and taking me somewhere.

However, I couldn’t open my eyes or move my body.

I once again fell asleep.

She said before leaving.

I didn’t understand what she meant, however, atleast now I had some alone time.

However, this alone time didn’t last long as the door opened again not long after.

This time, a lean man with a long black beard and slender hands entered the room. The girl from before trailing behind him.

"So it’s true." He smiled at me and asked: "Kid, do you know what happened in your village?"

I shook my head and answered: "No my lord, when I reached my village, everyone was already dead."

He rubbed his chin and murmured: "As I thought."

He then looked at me and informed me: "They were all killed through poison."

I only nodded as a reaction. I have already suspected that much.

He added: "You survived since you arrived after the poison had cleared from the area, that saved your life."

I again nodded, though I didn’t agree with his deduction.

When I arrived, the poison was thick in the air, so much so that my throat burned.

It seems I survived through some unknown means that this man doesn’t know of.

He continued with a pitied gaze:

He smiled warmly at me.

Instead, I was surprised by what he said.

"Servant?" I had an expression of disbelief.

He nodded with a smile and answered:

"Hmm," I nodded in understanding and informed:

"I’ll not become a servant."

Hearing this, the girl from before instantly yelled at me:

However, before she could continue, her father interjected:

"Kid, I can understand that you’ve gone through a tough incident but you’ve to think about the future. Let’s do this. I’ll give you a day to think about it and return later, what do you say?"

I shook my head and said confidently:

"I want to become a disciple of the sect."

The girl again yelled at me:

"You!... You really don’t know your place. You can’t become a disciple just because your village was massacred. You need talent and atleast a 4-star spirit!"

This time, even her father was conflicted about whether to stop her or not.

I ignored her and looked at the peak master with determination.

However before I could complete my sentence, a loud shout of disbelief resounded in the room:
