Chapter 1129: Set's Sins vs. Riley's Sins

Chapter 1129: Set's Sins vs. Riley's Sins

"Now, which sins do you think weigh more — I, who have lived for billions of years, destroying and creating entire civilizations – or you, a fledgling who has not even lived for a thousand years?"

Those who have lived in the Domain of the Gods are capable of knowing someone's age just by looking at them — even Miss Pepondosovich was capable of this when she first met Riley and even mentioned it once or twice. "Hm," Riley, however, even with his head being gripped by Set, just responded with a shrug as he slowly turned his head to look at the scepter that turned into a giant balance scale — but alas, he was only able to catch a glimpse of it before Set just turned his head to face him again.

"Look into my eyes," Set's eyes were now just completely a pair of voids as he stared Riley in the eyes — and as Riley looked back into the abyss, he felt himself being sucked into whatever Set was doing to him.

"...Impressive," Riley was able to whisper out before his eyes also completely turned completely dark.

"Of course, it is impressive." Set whispered. And Riley truly was impressed — Riley is immune to almost all mind attacks, with Xra's mind-reading ability being one of the exceptions. And so, he truly was impressed that Set was able to use his abilities to completely pull in Riley's mind — and very soon, Set also entered his own mind.

And there, Riley was already waiting for him in a vast dark field.

"Intriguing," Set just placed his hand behind his back as he started walking and circling Riley, "Most would be shivering and cowering now — but you are just standing there. Is it calmness, or just utter disregard?"

"Hm," Riley just once again shrugged as he looked at Set circling him, "I have nothing to do but wait, Set — and so, I am waiting."

"You do not have to wait for long," Set breathed out, "These are my sins."

Set then stretched his arms to the side, and as soon as he did so, a song of cries immediately hummed in the never-ending darkness that surrounded them.

"Oh?" Riley blinked a couple of times as he felt a warmth drowning his feet — blood, emerging out of nowhere and very slowly filling up the darkness. And as soon as it reached Riley and Set's waists, arms started emerging from the pool of blood; some rotten, some whole, and some were just bones — but all of them were trying to reach and scratch Riley and Set's flesh away from their immortal body.

"Do you see?" Set stretched his arms to the side as the pool of blood continued to rise, "The weight of my sins is enough to drown an entire universe with blood — I confess — I have killed trillions. I have caused famines that wiped out entire worlds. I have made men go to war and kill each other for petty reasons such as a drizzle of spice. I have ended entire universes for the reason that I want to reshape them to my image…

…these are my sins, and I have many more."

"Hm…" Riley just let himself be dragged and flayed by the endless limbs trying to tear him apart.

"I am afraid you will never even get your turn, Boy," Set let out a small and sinister chuckle; his face, covered in blood and flesh, "Your sins will never reach the levels of a god's."

"I suppose," Riley just once again shrugged. And very soon, both he and Set start to rise and emerge from the pool of blood; their clothes, still dripping of Set's sins.

"But of course," Set once again let out a small and confident chuckle as he once again circled around him, brushing his mustache while looking at Riley from head to toe, "We are still balancing the weight of our sins — it will not be fair to not even give you a chance even though we know how this will end."

"That is very generous of you, Set," Riley nodded.

"You will not be thinking that soon enough," Set smirked as he finally stopped walking, "In fact, you will not be thinking anything at all — Let the universe judge you for your sins, Boy!"

And with those words, Set once again stretched his arms to the side; a ripple, just echoing from Set's feet and causing a violent wave to form across the pool of blood beneath them.

"Confess your sins!" Set then pointed at Riley with such vigor, it almost looked like he was trying to stab him from afar, "Confess all of your sins!"

And even with Set's voice reverberating throughout the entire dark expanse, Riley just remained motionless; his eyes, just staring at Set's while he had a blank expression on his face.

"Do not pretend to not have any sins, Boy," Set smirked; his shoulders slightly bouncing as he tried to force out a laugh, "Even newborns have the sin of crying for attention…

…Confess!"

"Before I do, may I ask you something?" Riley finally spoke up.

"Delaying the inevitable," Set then just suddenly appeared right behind Riley; whispering almost next to his ear, "But very well — it has been a very long time since I have met someone like you. And after I am done with you, I am going to have fun with the little rabbit friend of yours."

"You have the Cosmic Piece, correct?" Riley asked.

"Correct," Set, true to his words, just walked back away from Riley as he answered his question, "And from that alone, I have created countless civilizations only to destroy them when I am bored with them."

"Hm," Riley placed his hand on his chin, "According to the mythology I know, you have killed your own brother — is there any truth in that?"

"..." Set did not really answer Riley and just responded with a stare. But after a few more seconds, he let out a sigh and nodded his head, "That is true — I killed Osiris."

"Why did you not list it as your sin?" Riley blinked a couple of times.

"Because it is not a sin I wished to confess," Set let out a small grumble as he closed his eyes — but after he was done releasing his breath, his mustache started to expand as a wide smile very slowly crawled on his face,

"...Because I enjoyed doing what I did to him."

An almost deafening burst of laughter escaped Set's lips; his mouth, wide open as he cackled through the endless darkness. His laughter, however, also soon instantly stopped as he glared at Riley,

"And why are you asking this?" Set squinted his eyes.

"I would like to know what you felt after you enjoyed it, Set."

"Nothing," Set shook his head, "Because I am still lavishing and enjoying the moment until now — I am not done enjoying it."

"I suppose that is valid," Riley nodded, "If that is so, then there is really only one thing that I could confess to you, Set."

"And what is that?" Set raised an eyebrow.

"It is that I already had my sins weighed," Riley then let out a short but deep sigh while shaking his head, "You arrived late for a few seconds and I had nothing to do, so I decided to think of everything that I did that could be considered a sin."

"Hm…?" Set soon squinted his eyes as he stood up straight and completely faced Riley, "Then I suppose this is over now — there is not even a single trace of your sin here."

Set then let out a small but very deep sigh as he looked at the pool of blood, "My sins have drowned yours."

"...Not exactly," Riley also let out a small sigh as he shook his head, "You have been surrounded by my sins ever since you arrived here, Set."

"What?" Set just looked around before letting out a small chuckle, "There is nothing here, Boy — it is time to stop pretending and delaying the inevitable. It is time to be judged, and Boy, the weight of my sins has completely stomped you…

…Farewell!" Set then once again pointed at Riley. But even after seconds have passed, absolutely nothing happened to him. He was about to once again be pulled into the pool of blood, but he was just standing there and staring at him.

"Why… is nothing happening?" Set breathed out.

"I have already told you, Set," Riley shook his head again, "We are not surrounded by your sins, we are surrounded by mine."

"I do not see any of your sins!"

"You do, you have, you are seeing it." And this time, it was Riley's turn to stretch his arms to the side; his eyes, just looking Set right in the eyes as a wide, sinister smile that reached from ear to ear crawled on his face,

"The darkness that surrounds us are my sins, Set."

"What…?"

"But I will not confess any of them to you…

…because I enjoyed each and every sin I have committed."
