Chapter 75: Can you do anything for me?
"Daisy!!!!"
Richard screamed at the top of his lungs, but the call had already been disconnected.
Beep! Beep!
The dissonant beep that followed felt like an ominous foreshadowing of a nightmare to him, and Richard felt a cold shiver run down his spine.
"R-Richard! Help me!!!"
Remembering Daisy’s crying voice of urgency sent waves of dread coursing through him.
Mixed in that dread was also anger, which simmered beneath the surface as he confirmed his worst fears—Adrian had indeed harmed Daisy and taken her against her will.
Just the thought of it made Richard’s anger seem like an inferno waiting to be unleashed.
"Adrian, Adrian, Adrain, you’re my worst enemy."
Richard’s hatred for Adrian broke every record, even more than those who betrayed him in his last life.
Nevertheless, he knew that Daisy’s safety was the priority here.
"Killing him can come later... I have to save Daisy first."
His heart raced, and his mind raced even faster as he tried to process the way ahead.
But his simp brain never thought about why Daisy would only call him and no one else.
To Richard, the mere thought of her in danger filled him with a paralyzing fear.
In his mind, he had already deluded himself into thinking that he was the only support for Daisy, who was now despised by the world.
He never thought, How would Daisy even know that she was labeled as a terrorist when she was kidnapped right after the catastrophe at the academy?
The idea of anything happening to her was simply unbearable to him, and his concern for Daisy was so overwhelming that it clouded his rationality.
Without a second thought, he dialed the number from which he received Daisy’s call.
"The number you have dialed is not answering."
But when that mechanical female’s voice entered his ears for the umpteenth time since yesterday, he felt a flood of frustration and worry wash over him.
He tried calling again, hoping for a different outcome, but the same message played on repeat.
"The number you have dialed is not answering."
Each moment of the unanswered call drove his anxiety to unbearable levels.
The uncertainty of Daisy’s safety gnawed at him, leaving him feeling helpless and desperate for answers.
"Shit! Shit! No, I have no time. Daisy needs me."
His desperation reached a point where he was willing to do anything to ensure Daisy’s safety, even if it meant taking matters into his own hands.
Pulling out his laptop, he decided to track the number, a decision born out of sheer determination and the need to find Daisy.
It didn’t matter how he knew these things.
He used to be a computer nerd before his awakening.
Not to mention, as a regressor from the future, one of the top 10 strongest, and a witness to a technological boom, he knew how to find loopholes in the current system.
"Quick quick!"
Even so, it was not simple to trace someone’s location just based on their number.
Fortunately, Daisy’s phone had the GPS on.
Truth be told, he had a sneaking suspicion it was a trap of some kind, but at this point he didn’t care.
Every click of the keyboard felt like a lifeline, a way to get closer to her.
"Got it. As expected, it’s that bastard Adrian’s house."
Finally finding the location, Richard acted without hesitation.
With a determined look, he grabbed the car keys and ran for the location to save Daisy, the girl he was a simp for.
However, just as he left in his car, Daisy’s location suddenly started moving towards the highway.
Noticing this, Richard understood—Daisy was in a vehicle, undoubtedly against her will.
"Bastrard, I will follow you to the end of the world."
Richard stepped on the accelerator and sped down the highway, his heart pounding with anxiety.
He was chasing after her, but the more he rushed, the faster her location seemed to move on the map.
It was like a cruel game of cat and mouse, and he refused to give up.
Hours passed as he followed Daisy’s location.
The cityscape gave way to open roads, and eventually Richard found himself in a remote area, nearing a cliff.
With every passing second, his desperation grew more intense.
"No, no, no! I will not let her die in this life."
He couldn’t bear the thought of losing Daisy again.
Fortunately, Daisy’s position slowed down after what seemed like an age, and Richard was able to get closer to the moving point on his map.
"Wait! This..."
However, his eyes widened as he spotted a black Rolls-Royce Cullinan in the distance, and he shouted,
"It’s his!"
There was no doubt in his mind—it was Adrian’s car.
"Daisy must be inside!"
Richard’s anger flared anew.
"No... I can’t be hasty."
But he knew he had to be careful this time.
If it had been Adrian’s Ferrari, he wouldn’t have any concern, but it was his Rolls Royce, which meant a high chance it was being driven by his butler—Albert.
Smack!
"Why does it have to be him, why? Fuck! God, are you playing tricks with me or what?"
Richard hit the steering wheel and roared like a maniac.
Others might not know, but Richard knew that Albert wasn’t a normal butler.
He was a wild hound raised by the Vaiself family, whose sole duty was to protect Adrian at all costs.
Because of this, Richard realized that if he engaged his opponent head-on, he would not only lose his life but also fail to rescue Daisy.
Nonetheless, he realized that Adrian was taking Daisy away from the prying eyes of the official hunters searching for her in every possible corner.
So, his strategy was to wait and then sneakily save Daisy from wherever she was kept.
"He will surely not stay with her all the time. I will get my chance."
Convincing himself, Richard at last gritted his teeth and slowed down his own car intentionally to stay hidden from their view.
"All for Daisy’s safety."
But as the evening sun cast long shadows on the desolate cliffside road, Richard realized how wrong his thinking was when...
Suddenly, the door of Adrian’s moving Rolls-Royce swung open, and a sack-like object was callously thrown out of the speeding car.
"No!"
It was not a sack but rather a human body covered in a black robe that rolled and tumbled in the direction of the cliff because of its momentum.
There was no need for Richard to even think about who this human body belonged to.
"Daisy!!!"
Time seemed to stand still for Richard as he comprehended the horrifying truth—Adrian was trying to dispose of her, not hide her.
Richard’s heart pounded and his mind raced, but in that moment, there was only one thing he knew.
’I have to do something.’
Without a second thought, Richard reached for the passenger seat of his car, ripping off the backrest with his full force.
Putting mana into it and unlocking the door, he threw it towards Daisy, who was about to fall down the cliff.
Bang!
Fortunately, the makeshift projectile struck the rolling Daisy, altering her course and saving her from the impending fall into the abyss.
In addition, Adrian’s car had already sped away from the scene as if running away.
But to Richard, none of this mattered.
"Daisy!"
She was the only thing that mattered to him as he rushed out of his car, sprinting towards her.
Gradually, as he drew closer, it became clear that it was not an object—it was really Daisy, as he had expected, bound and tied with ropes.
"Mmmph! Mmmph!"
Daisy seemed to have woken up from shock and was groaning in pain, struggling to get free.
However, her muffled groans of pain and shock came to an abrupt halt when, in the midst of her ordeal, she heard Richard’s yell and saw him sprinting towards her.
A glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes, but it quickly gave way to fear and trepidation.
It was as if she wasn’t sure if he was there to rescue her or add to her torment.
’Coincidentally,’ this was all seen by Richard, who, seeing her distress and realizing her fear, stopped in his tracks.
His heart ached for her, and he understood the complexity of her emotions in that moment.
In a swift and instinctive gesture, Richard raised his hands in a form of surrender, making it clear that he meant no harm to her.
"Daisy! It’s me, Richard; you called me; remember, I am here to help you."
"..."
Fortunately, Daisy stopped struggling after hearing his voice, suggesting that she understood what he was doing.
With a little confidence, Richard moved one step toward her.
But that seemed to have triggered something in Daisy, as she took a step back in fear.
"Alright! I will not come closer but stay here."
Richard shouted and stopped once again, while Daisy nodded fearfully and stayed still.
To this, Richard smiled, took out a knife from the back of his belt, and with a little aim, threw it at her.
Swoosh!
The knife went straight and precisely cut the rope that bound Daisy, who got her hands free, with which she removed the tape covering her mouth.
"Hufff... haa... hufff... haa..."
As Daisy finally freed herself from her restraints and took deep breaths to regain some composure, Richard cautiously moved closer to her.
But before he could make any significant progress, her voice, still filled with fear and trauma, pierced the tense air.
"Don’t come near me."
Daisy yelled, her words echoing through the desolate cliffside.
Hearing this, Richard immediately froze in his tracks and looked at Daisy, whose face finally appeared in front of his eyes.
"You’re hurt."
Her bruised and swollen face came into full view, a stark reminder of the ordeal she had endured, and Richard’s heart ached at the sight.
Nevertheless, Daisy still didn’t allow him to come closer.
"No, don’t come closer to me."
However, this time, Richard finally couldn’t hold on any longer.
Instinctively, he yelled and started crying as tears fell down his face.
"Why?!"
For a simp like him, even in such a situation, it was impossible to yell at his goddess.
That was why his yell was more of a plea to her than anger.
"I am here to help. Please let me help you. I can’t see you suffering here like this."
Nonetheless, his pleas had no effect on Daisy, who seemed to have broken because of what she suffered.
"No! I... I have already been forcefully tainted by... by Adrian... I don’t deserve to live. I don’t deserve you... I don’t deserve anyone... I am a terrorist... There’s no place left for me in this world."
For the first time in her life, Daisy shed tears, which struck a nerve deep in Richard’s heart as he forgot everything else.
’Daisy has finally understood my heart and become so open to me.’
He felt like it was a God-sent opportunity for him, and he wanted to grab it with both arms.
No tears came out of his eyes at all this time, and he became ecstatic.
"Daisy! I understand your feelings, but it doesn’t matter... For me, you will always be the same lovely Daisy... We can stay together in a foreign country where no one knows us... For you... I can do anything."
Wiping his tears, he shouted passionately.
But what he failed to notice as his hands covered his eyes were the expressions of disgust that flashed on Daisy’s face for a split second as she screamed and cried even more loudly this time.
"How dare you lie to me? How dare you say it doesn’t matter what happened to me? I was raped and have been cursed by Chaos energy."
She was screaming at the top of her lungs.
"Can you get raped by a man for me? Can you also get cursed by Chaos energy for me? Unless you’re in the same situation as me, how could I believe that you understand me and it doesn’t matter to you?"
"That you truly love me... Tell me, will you do it for me?"
What do you think?
