Chapter 44 - You Think You Can Fight? Try Some Lime Powder!

Chapter 44 You Think You Can Fight? Try Some Lime Powder!

Yu Chen charged forward alone, but how could Wang Siling possibly feel at ease?

After hesitating for a moment, she quietly followed behind him.

“Hey! Broad daylight, and you’re causing trouble?”

As soon as Yu Chen reached the embankment, he saw five or six thugs surrounding Xiaoxiao and the other girls. They had lecherous grins on their faces, making crude gestures while laughing amongst themselves. However, they hadn’t made any physical moves yet.

It seemed they were following Qi Lin’s instructions to the letter. Hearing Yu Chen’s voice, the thugs turned around. The moment they recognized his face, they almost burst out laughing.

Oh! Isn’t this the guy from the photo Qi Lin sent us?

“Kid, we’re just chatting with these lovely ladies. Mind your own damn business and scram.”

If they were going to act, they had to make it look real—Boss Lin paid them 100 yuan each for this!

First, provoke him, then beat him up—that part, they understood well enough.

“Scram your ass! These girls are my classmates! Who the hell do you punks think you are, harassing them? Get lost before I beat the shit out of you!”

Yu Chen wasn’t one to back down. He was tall and strong, and having grown up dominating his own neighborhood, he wasn’t afraid of a few street thugs.

The thugs were stunned for a moment—this guy had guts. But soon, they became furious.

Damn it, we thought Boss Lin wanted us to beat up some nerd.

Turns out this punk is cockier than we are!

Screw it, let’s teach him a lesson!

The thugs left the girls alone and closed in on Yu Chen. And just like that, one vs. five began.

_____

To be fair, Yu Chen actually had some fighting skills. Against four or five thugs, he was holding his own. But street thugs fought dirty.

One of them saw that Yu Chen wasn’t going down easily, so he grinned and pulled a handful of lime powder from his pocket.

Swoosh!

Taking advantage of a distracted moment, he threw it straight into Yu Chen’s eyes.

“Ahh!”

One moment, Yu Chen was riding high, winning the fight. The next, his eyes were burning like fire, and he couldn’t see a thing. That wasn’t the worst part.

Wham!

Thud!

A heavy punch struck his face, followed by a kick to his leg, sending him crashing onto the grass. Then, a storm of punches and kicks rained down on him from all directions.

Yu Chen, who had been so arrogant just moments ago, was now curled up in pain, trying to shield himself as he endured the brutal beating.

Wang Siling had been hiding, watching from afar. But now, her eyes widened in horror. She had just reached the embankment when she saw Yu Chen lying helplessly on the ground, surrounded by thugs who were kicking him mercilessly.

Xiaoxiao and the other girls were huddled together, terrified and unable to do anything.

“Stop! Stop hitting him!”

Tears welled up in Wang Siling’s eyes as she rushed toward them. Hearing her panicked, angelic voice, the thugs paused for a moment and turned to look at her. And then, they were stunned.

“Shit! This girl is gorgeous!”

A few of them couldn’t help but gawk. But one of the thugs snapped out of it and quickly whispered, “Get a grip, idiots! That’s Boss Lin’s girl! Unless you want to die, don’t even think about it.”

That reminder sent a chill down their spines. They instantly recalled Qi Lin’s cold, murderous gaze from earlier. Yeah… better not mess around.

One of them stepped forward and warned Wang Siling sternly.

“Stay back, girl, or we’ll beat you too.”

Even through his pain, Yu Chen heard Wang Siling’s voice.

Despite the agony, he forced himself to speak.

“Siling, don’t come closer! I can handle this! If you just wait, they’ll eventually get tired and leave.”

Honestly, Yu Chen did have some guts. Even after getting beaten, he still refused to surrender.

“Hah! You think we’ll stop just because we’re tired?”

One of the thugs sneered and pulled out a metal baton, swinging it through the air with a sharp whooshing sound.

If that thing landed on someone’s body, bones would definitely break.

Wang Siling panicked completely.

If Yu Chen’s leg got broken, he’d be crippled for life. Desperate situations bring desperate solutions.

In that moment, one name flashed through her mind—Qi Lin.

“Wait! Give me a second—I can get you the money!”

Tears streaked down her face as she pleaded. The thugs exchanged glances.

Wait a minute… this wasn’t part of the script!

Wasn’t she supposed to wait for Qi Lin to show up before giving in?

Why is she skipping ahead?

“I need to make a call! Just wait here!”

Wiping away her tears, Wang Siling ran toward a coin-operated public phone booth nearby.

The thugs stood there, momentarily stunned.

“…What just happened?”

“Riiing, riiing…”

Not far away, Qi Lin was watching everything unfold from his car, parked along the riverside avenue.

As he observed the scene with amusement, his phone suddenly rang. Looking at the caller ID, his lips curled into a knowing smirk. She was Wang Siling.
