Chapter 2773 Unable To Be Divined
Chapter 2773 Unable To Be Divined
"Master, can someone like him truly exist?" Lady Yeon asked, her voice laced with disbelief.
The old woman remained motionless for what felt like an eternity.
"I did not think so," she finally admitted, her voice almost reverent. "And yet…"
Her voice drifted into silence, her gaze lifting upwards. There was nothing but the ceiling above them, but Lady Yeon knew better.
She wasn't looking at the ceiling.
She was looking beyond it.
After an hour, the old woman grew weary.
"I cannot see it either," she stated, making Lady Yeon quiver.
"You can't either?" Lady Yeon was stunned.
"We have the same eyes, but mine have grown dull over time." The old woman sighed. "This cannot be scryed into easily… I'll have to use all my power."
Lady Yeon stumbled back. "You will really do it, Master?"
"I will… it has to be done." The old woman brought her hands together, pinching her index fingers and thumbs while touching the rest together. She then mumbled in an esoteric language, a strange energy manifesting around her.
Lady Yeon watched intently, not wanting to miss such an opportunity.
Minutes passed, the air thick with an oppressive force. Then, the old woman trembled.
COUGH COUGH COUGH
She suddenly began to cough violently, spewing out mouthfuls of blood.
Her hacking cough didn't stop, making Lady Yeon panic.
"Master!" she cried anxiously.
It took the old woman an entire ten minutes to somewhat calm down, but even then, her energy was in chaos.
"It cannot be done!" the old woman exclaimed. "He's even stranger than I thought!"
"What did you see, Master?" Lady Yeon asked.
"Nothing. I saw nothing!" she replied. "That man's fate cannot be divined!"
"W-why?" Lady Yeon stammered.
"Either he is being protected by a force beyond our understanding, or… He is Fateless!" The old woman declared.
"Fateless…" Lady Yeon fell to the ground.
She had heard myths about such existences, but to think she would come across one.
"What… what do we do now?" Lady Yeon asked after several minutes of silence.
"We will fulfill our duty," the old woman replied. "We watch."
"We'll just watch?" Lady Yeon was dumbfounded.
"Someone like him is far too volatile for us to interfere. We might end up bringing our own doom if we meddle. Whether he brings destruction to this universe or ushers in a new era, we will be there, observing, recording, documenting everything that he does."
"For such is our duty… Our duty as the descendants of the Heaven Secrets Sect!" The old woman declared.
The room grew silent once more before the old woman tapped her cane.
"For now, though, we return," the old woman said firmly. "Back to the Celestial Realm."
HUALA
Outside, the ship's runes glowed brightly before it began to move.
WHOOSH
In the mere blink of an eye, it had turned into a tiny dot, speeding away at an unfathomable pace.
Soon, its presence could not be felt at all.
Back in the Teleportation Channel, Lin Mu was busy training Meng Bai. Time passed quickly, and they soon acclimatized to the environment.
Meng Bai had long since forgotten that he wasn't in his world anymore. The courtyard felt like home itself, and he had been steadily progressing in both his spear techniques and penmanship.
A month later, his handwriting had improved considerably, and he was close to hitting the goal that Lin Mu had set. The barrel of ink was now ninety percent empty. His spear proficiency had also improved significantly, and Lin Mu reckoned he could handle at least ten cultivators at his level alone.
Though the boy didn't know this, as he had no opponents to test his skills against.
He did 'spar' against Lin Mu and occasionally Daoist Chu, but with them, it was more of a learning experience than a real fight. The boy never managed to land a hit unless they allowed it. But it was precisely this training routine that had accelerated his growth.
After all, he was fighting against immortals.
It was not a standard that just anyone in the Spirit Realm could match.
Another month passed in the blink of an eye, and Meng Bai had finally reached a point where his handwriting was impeccable. He could write runes with perfect precision, and his talismans had also improved drastically as a result.
Now, he could draw complex talismans that had previously been beyond his ability due to his limitations. Seeing his progress, Lin Mu decided to shift his training.
Instead of penmanship, Meng Bai was now learning the intricate art of formations.
Of course, he was mostly working on theory for now, as there was much to learn. Fortunately, Meng Bai already understood the basic Dao Script, so he didn't have to start from scratch. He could simply expand his knowledge as he progressed.
Instead of writing twenty pages every day, Meng Bai was now creating talismans endlessly. He dedicated four hours to practical training, crafting talismans nonstop, and another four hours to studying formation theory.
And that was just from Lin Mu's training.
Daoist Chu was also providing additional lessons, but they varied in nature. Sometimes he would teach the boy for over twelve hours straight, and other times he would only give him guidance for a few minutes. Regardless, Meng Bai was improving at an astonishing rate, revealing an innate talent for formations that far exceeded his skill with the spear.
Daoist Chu had a hunch that, within a few years, Meng Bai might be capable of crafting formations on the level of a Grandmaster.
Of course, this was only for Spirit Formations. If he wanted to reach the next level, he would have to attain immortality.
Another month went by, and Meng Bai finally turned sixteen years old. His birthday was, of course, celebrated by everyone, with Little Shrubby preparing a grand feast.
Though their journey through the Teleportation Channel was still ongoing, it had become a period of tremendous growth for Meng Bai.
And perhaps, unbeknownst to them, the lessons he was learning now would shape the future in ways none could predict.
What do you think?
