Chapter 1289: 1290 Current Situation in Originheart City

Chapter 1289: Chapter 1290 Current Situation in Originheart City

After touring a large part of Originheart City, I grew accustomed to the diverse architectural styles. But what’s truly intriguing are the residents; they are worth observing.

These people were all brought here from various places by Frode. Some had different linguistic habits, but now they live harmoniously in Originheart City. Moreover, the vast majority of them wore smiles on their faces, enhancing the charm of this nascent world, all basking in a hopeful dawn, full of optimism about the future.

“In the beginning, the new arrivals to the Dream Realm were a bit lost, spending their days in confusion,” Frode explained, “With the rise of City Lord Monroe, her reforms have gotten everyone bustling about, and they’ve invested their passion into the city’s affairs. Gradually, everyone found their sense of belonging to Originheart City and started to identify themselves as its new inhabitants.”

“Thus, the general populace found a new direction in life, and Originheart City went from chaos to order.”

Angel said, “It seems City Lord Monroe played a crucial role. However, by starting with their life goals, it seems she’s pieced together some truths about the world?”

Frode pondered for a moment, “Monroe is a very astute woman. Although she’s never inquired about the Wilderness of Dreams, she must have theorized about it. By the way, Mr. Jon once mentioned some things to me.”

...

“Before she became the City Lord, Monroe had consulted Mr. Jon regarding the city annals, and that’s when their bond formed,” Frode spoke of something that Angel was aware of.

“Later, concerning the city’s development strategy, she would habitually seek Mr. Jon’s counsel. Over time, she grew increasingly respectful towards him. Occasionally, she’d discuss some issues with Jon, focusing on the peculiarities of the Dream Realm’s new inhabitants, such as the undead nature. It seems, she wanted to glean some answers from Jon.”

“But she never asked me. So, I’ve just pretended to be unaware.”

Angel nodded noncommittally after hearing Frode’s words. As a City Lord, Monroe’s vision couldn’t be limited to the present; her curiosity about this world was only natural. But like Frode said, in addition to her intelligence, she was also very cautious, knowing which questions to ask and which to avoid, especially regarding sensitive matters.

Angel said, “You don’t need to concern yourself with the rest; as long as she performs her duties well as a City Lord, you can reveal some truths about the world when appropriate.”

Angel didn’t care whether Monroe noticed anything; even if he were to tell her the truth about the Wilderness of Dreams, it wouldn’t matter. Since her physical body had died, she was now a resident of the Dream Realm, she would not leak secrets to the outside world.

As for the future, once he had control over the Core Authority of the Wilderness of Dreams, the affairs would eventually become known to others. Then, with the Wizard’s intelligence, they might guess much of the truth; he wasn’t worried about Monroe disclosing it.

Frode nodded; he was very satisfied with City Lord Monroe currently, but if Angel had an issue with her, he wouldn’t dare to disagree. Fortunately, Angel did not mind Monroe’s minor actions.

After walking through most of Originheart City, they arrived at the Marine Theater.

As soon as they entered the theater, a stream of piano notes flowed out. However, the melody was not pleasing to the ear, clearly played by a beginner.

“Wrong again!” A familiar male voice sounded, tinged with a hint of reproof.

A hiccup, followed by a slightly aggrieved cry, “I’ve been playing for three hours already, I’m really tired, it’s normal to make a mistake…”

“Don’t try to fool me, do you really not know if your body is tired?”

“Then… then it’s mental fatigue. My head hurts, I can’t learn anymore.” The childish voice seemed to be making excuses.

“It’s not that you can’t learn, it’s that you don’t want to learn.”

“Shanni only practices for two hours, why do I have to practice that long.”

“She’s learning vocal techniques, and you’re learning the piano; the nature of the two is different, how can you compare? Besides, Shanni is more diligent in her studies than you are.”

As they conversed, the doors to the piano hall opened. The child sitting on the custom piano stool heard the sound of the door behind him and seemed to realize something, quickly turning his head.

“It’s young Master Tyson! Master Tyson, save me!” He paused, and seeing a tall figure behind Frode, his eyes instantly lit up with an intense glow: “It’s the Lord, the Lord is back! Mentor Jon, the Lord is back, can I skip piano practice today?”

The little boy practicing the piano was none other than Adar, the undead orphan. And the one teaching him piano was none other than the ever-mentor Jon.

Jon turned his head towards the entrance and immediately saw Angel, his face unconsciously revealing a pleased smile.

However, when he saw the tall man standing behind Angel, his gaze tightened slightly.

After a while, childlike piano notes and suppressed sobs filled the piano hall again. The pianist was still Adar, but this time he dared not cry out loud, because the one overseeing his practice was no longer the lenient Jon, but Angel and Frode.

As Adar played the piano, Angel also reflected.

“Milord, is it alright to let Mentor Jon

Jon was curious about Angel’s experiences, while Sanders asked about some matters regarding Jon’s homeland.

They both told the truth but kept some things back. Jon didn’t want the powerful Wizard to know too much about Earth, so he spoke only of the local customs and human conditions, which Sanders found quite interesting.

Sanders didn’t talk much about Angel, mainly because some experiences were hard to explain, and many things would probably be better coming from Angel himself.

At least from Angel’s own perception, their conversation was restrained yet friendly.

“Don’t worry about Jon, better to talk about how Adar and Shanni are doing lately, and what’s the situation with the orphanage?” Angel steered the conversation, looking at Frode with curiosity.

Frode nodded and began to speak slowly.

About half an hour later, Sanders and Jon came back from the side hall. Jon stayed at the Marine Theater to chat with Angel for a while, and Sanders left the theater alone, planning to take a look around by himself.

Facing Jon again, Angel did not ask about his conversation with Sanders but instead talked about his recent life.

“…All in all, I’ve been living quite well, but now that I’m more spirited, I’ve been thinking about reorganizing those documents from reality that I never compiled properly,” Jon paused, then sighed, “But then I thought better of it. After all, the history I compile of the Goldfinch Empire doesn’t really serve any purpose in the Wilderness of Dreams.”

Jon had always liked compiling such materials due to the historical texts of the Goldfinch Empire always being incomplete, but as he said, even if he compiled them, they would be of no use in the Wilderness of Dreams.

After some thought, Angel figured that Jon probably had a “research” addiction. As an academic researcher, Jon’s hobby was naturally academic research, but now his work either involved teaching music or planning city construction with Monroe.

Although he occasionally interacted with scholars from Originheart City, due to a lack of understanding of local history and other aspects, Jon’s perspective was much higher than theirs, so the exchanges didn’t spark much insight. However, in discussions with some artisans on artistic vision, Jon could gain significant intellectual stimulation.

Angel pondered for a moment, “How about this, I’ll bring you some things from reality. If you find it dull, you might want to study them.”

“What things?”

Angel’s eyes flickered, “Extraordinary Items.”

Jon, having grown in a society with a scientific worldview, was always curious about these Extraordinary Items but had never had access to them. So when Angel suggested that he study them, Jon’s eyes suddenly lit up.

“Research into Extraordinary Items requires caution, Even if it’s in the Wilderness of Dreams, it’s still transcendent energy, and no one knows what might happen,” Angel cautioned.

Jon naturally nodded, “No problem, and it would be even better if I could bring those experimental tools I’ve accumulated in the warehouse.”

“Okay.” Angel nodded. When Jon’s health was still good, he had made many rudimentary experimental tools for basic physical tests and chemical experiments. But as he gradually became immobile, these things had been left in the warehouse.

After discussing some of his simplified experiences with Jon, Angel prepared to leave.

Before leaving, Jon hesitated for a moment and asked, “You must have heard about what Lyon said when he came last time, right? How are things in the manor now, and how is Lyon?”

Angel hadn’t mentioned it before because many of the Servants affected by the Crimson Authority had grown up with Jon, including some very close to him, like the mute servant.

Faced with Jon’s question, Angel pondered for a moment, then revealed a smile, “Don’t worry, the matters of the manor have been mostly taken care of, everything is fine, and Lyon is fine too.”

Jon knew Angel well enough to sense that he was probably hiding something, but since Angel had taken that powerful Wizard Mentor to the manor, Jon figured that the issues must have been mostly resolved. And he knew Angel wouldn’t keep him in the dark about Lyon’s situation.

Thinking this, Jon decided not to pursue what Angel was hiding and nodded, “Go ahead, don’t worry about me too much. I’m living well here, and you have your own path to follow. I don’t want to be a stumbling block in your way.”

Angel smiled, “You’ve never been a stumbling block. To me, you are a beacon in the dark, guiding my way.”

After leaving the Marine Theater, Angel’s expression gradually grew solemn.

At the door, Angel ran into Frode who was waiting outside. Seeing Angel’s somber expression, Frode asked with concern, “My lord, what happened? Was your conversation with Mr. Jon not pleasant?”

“It’s not about Mentor Jon, it’s just that mentioning the manor upset me a bit.”

Frode, curious, asked, “Is it about what your brother mentioned last time?”

Angel nodded, thinking about Frode closing the orphanage and making a trip to the Old Earth Continent just for the manor’s sake. Now that Frode asked about it, Angel briefed him on what had happened at the manor.

After Angel finished, he sighed with a hint of sadness, “Now, those Servants can only wait for death there, without direction, unable to see the future.”

Hearing this, Frode fell into deep thought. After a while, he suddenly said, “My lord, why not consider bringing them to the Wilderness of Dreams?”
