Chapter 940: The Freed Demon

Xiao Nanfeng's sharp observation exposed the Buddha's malicious intentions and enraged it.

"You really are a vigilant brat! But whether you're willing or not, you'll be taking my place today," the Buddha said, its fury evident. It reached out to grab Xiao Nanfeng once again.

The two-headed giant was immensely powerful, with sinister techniques that Xiao Nanfeng wasn't familiar with. Its palms caused the surrounding void to warp and distort.

"Another realm of the palm? It's useless. You can't move, so you can't harm me," Xiao Nanfeng retorted.

He activated his candleflame powers again and flashed into the black fog.

The next moment, a gigantic palm descended from the heavens, straight toward Xiao Nanfeng's head.

"You can track me?" Xiao Nanfeng exclaimed. He dodged swiftly, his tone laced with surprise.

"My heart force extends to every corner of this realm, and my techniques can strike you wherever you are. Since you refuse to cooperate, don't blame me for being ruthless."

With another wave of its hand, another palm strike accurately targeted Xiao Nanfeng through the black fog.

"Didn't you say that you can't control the heart force in this black fog?" Xiao Nanfeng asked seriously.

"I've been awake for tens of thousands of years. Don't you think I would have developed a few tricks during that time?" the Buddha replied with a chilling laugh.

His palms relentlessly pursued Xiao Nanfeng no matter where he fled.

"If this heart force is what's exposing my location, I suppose I'll just have to deal with it."

Golden light radiated from his body, creating a powerful suction that attracted the black fog all around him.

"Impossible! How can you absorb this heart force? Do you have some kind of treasure that targets it?" the Buddha exclaimed.

"You've been trapped here for so long, but instead of seeking redemption, you're intent on trying to swindle others into taking your place. Don't you worry. Once I finish dealing with this heart force, you're next." @@novelbin@@

"Damn you!" the Buddha roared.

It reached out for Xiao Nanfeng again, but Xiao Nanfeng's candleflame powers allowed him to dodge even the fastest attacks.

Xiao Nanfeng continued absorbing the heart force more and more quickly. Black fog surged toward him in a flood.

"Stop!" the Buddha bellowed.

Desperate, both heads of the giant now struck at Xiao Nanfeng simultaneously, with two Buddha's palms and two demonic claws. Four frightening limbs aimed at Xiao Nanfeng—but despite their efforts, Xiao Nanfeng continued to evade the attacks effortlessly.

"You damn brat! If I weren't bound by this seal, you'd already have died countless times," the two-headed giant roared.

"Keep shouting while you still have the strength to do so," Xiao Nanfeng said coldly.

Another barrage of strikes failed to connect as Xiao Nanfeng vanished again.

Heart force poured into Xiao Nanfeng's body like an unending river. This was the largest reservoir of heart force he had ever encountered, as expected of the hegemon of the era from 90,000 years ago.

Within his body, his golden sapling grew larger with every second as it absorbed the immense influx of heart force. New golden leaves unfurled from its branches. Its trunk thickened, amplifying its suction.

"Just you wait. Once I defeat you, everything you own will become mine."

"Enjoy shouting while you still can," Xiao Nanfeng retorted.

Outside the mirror, Su Qingchan passed away. No amount of screaming from Blue Lantern could change that.

"Su Tianxin, I'll kill you!" Blue Lantern roared, cradling Su Qingchan's body as he passed it to Blue Jade. Then, he shot into the sky.

Not far away, Su Tianxin was being battered by three mirror images. His body was riddled with injuries. When Blue Lantern approached, his face lit up with hope. He lunged toward Blue Lantern, intent on ending the battle decisively.

"Die, Blue Lantern!" Su Tianxin shouted.

Despite his rage, Blue Lantern forced himself to remain composed. He waved his hand and ordered, "All heart force, gather and form mirror images of Su Tianxin!"

Mirror images from across the formation stopped attacking Su Tianxin's subordinates and converged near Blue Lantern. They quickly reassembled into mirror images of Su Tianxin.

Very quickly, Su Tianxin was forced to face ten replicas of himself.

"Kill him!" Blue Lantern commanded.

"Die!" the ten mirror images roared.

They launched their attacks simultaneously—ten devastating punches with the weight of a mountain behind them.

"No!" Su Tianxin shrieked.

He was sent flying, spitting out a mouthful of blood in mid-air before he smashed into the ground with a violent quake.

"Kill him!" Blue Lantern commanded.

The ten mirror images flashed toward Su Tianxin and punched him again.

"No!"

Once again, Su Tianxin was sent flying. He smashed into dozens of mountains, shattering them on impact.

"Kill him!" Blue Lantern shouted again.

The ten mirror images appeared beside Su Tianxin and attacked him with all their strength.

"Hold it!" Su Tianxin hollered.

But he was sent flying yet again. Grievously wounded, his body dyed with blood, he wouldn't be able to last long.

"Again!" Blue Lantern roared.

The ten mirror images chased after Su Tianxin.

Su Tianxin's eyes widened in despair. He knew that he wouldn't be able to escape. A few more attacks, and he would be dead. It was too late for him to beg for mercy.

As he spat out blood, he fled toward the distance, a fierce look on his face. "In that case, I'll at least bring everyone down with me."

He gritted his teeth and rushed toward the mirror.

"Stop him!" Blue Lantern commanded.

The mirror images tried to forestall him, but he had made his move in the nick of time. With a whoosh, he vanished into the mirror, quickly followed by a group of pursuing mirror images.

Blue Lantern joined them.

Outside, with Blue Lantern no longer maintaining the formation with his bronze compasses, the Formation of the Mirrored Heart dissipated. The fog surrounding the civilians lifted.

"We're saved! The formation is down! Flee!" a Dachi soldier shouted.

"It's too late! Generals, kill the enemy!" Ye Sanshui ordered.

"Understood!" the countless surviving Dazheng soldiers chorused.

By then, the people of Tianyue had noticed the change as well.

"Su Tianxin has been defeated. Friends, comrades, charge out of the city with me and help Commander Ye take down our enemies! Kill those who attempted to trap us here and take our lives!" a cultivator in the city shouted.

Others cheered and joined the charge.

Without the mirror images plaguing them, they had nothing to fear. Anger filled them as they thought about how close they had come to dying. They might not have been able to take down Su Tianxin, but they were more than a match for ordinary soldiers!

"Die!"

Carnage reigned across Tianyue.

Within the world of the mirror, the double-headed giant cursed, "You damn brat! If my soul weren't sealed, you'd be dead!"

Xiao Nanfeng ignored his curses as he continued to absorb the heart force present within the mirror.

Suddenly, a bloodied Su Tianxin appeared within the mirror world, followed swiftly after by a group of mirror images. Without the support of the Formation of the Mirrored Heart, the mirror images were rapidly dissipating into heart force.

"Su Tianxin?" Xiao Nanfeng exclaimed in shock.

The double-headed giant whirled toward Su Tianxin in surprise.

"It's you, you brat! How dare you return?" the double-headed giant growled.

One massive hand reached out to grab Su Tianxin, but Su Tianxin remained calm. He even let out a sigh of relief.

At that moment, Blue Lantern entered the mirror realm as well.

Seeing him, Su Tianxin's face lit up with excitement. He turned to the double-headed giant. "Take him down! I'll take your place in the seal!"

The giant's eyes widened in surprise. Su Tianxin was willing to take his place?

"Very well!" The giant grinned.

He lunged at Blue Lantern.

Xiao Nanfeng teleported Blue Lantern away in a flash of red light, causing the giant to miss.

"That ability again?" the giant thundered.

"Blue Lantern, what are you doing here?" Xiao Nanfeng exclaimed.

"I want to kill Su Tianxin. I want to kill him with my own hands!" Blue Lantern's eyes glimmered with tears. His voice quavered. Grief lined his face.

This was the first time that Xiao Nanfeng had seen Blue Lantern so distraught. Without inquiring as to why, he promised, "I'll help you kill Su Tianxin."

"Thank you, Your Majesty!" Blue Lantern wiped at his tears and responded with gratitude.

Afar, the double-headed giant didn't continue pursuing Xiao Nanfeng and Blue Lantern. He told Su Tianxin, "Take my place now. Free me, and I'll help you kill them."

Su Tianxin hesitated briefly.

"If you refuse, I'll eat you and figure out how to break out of my seal later," the giant threatened coldly."

"I'll take your place. All I ask is that, once you're free, you kill those two cultivators and bring me their bronze compasses. Is that acceptable?" Su Tianxin asked.

"Very well!" The giant grinned.

"Set up the contract."

"If you take my place in these bindings, I shall kill those two cultivators before us and hand you their bronze compasses," the giant pledged. Its body glowed in purple light.

"I so pledge," Su Tianxin said firmly.

Suddenly, brilliant purple light burst from both their bodies. Their positions shifted as a hum reverberated through the mirror world. Su Tianxin now stood atop the glowing blue compass, his lower body sealed, while the double-headed giant was finally released from confinement.

The next moment, a burst of divine flames erupted from the giant. Half the flames were pitch-black, like those of a vengeful demon, while the other half shone golden, resembling the radiance of a Buddha. The giant's body exuded an overwhelming aura, shaking the mirror world to its core.

"I'm free, brat! How will you run from me now? Haha!" The two-headed giant laughed maniacally.

It had finally been freed after countless years. Now that it had regained its freedom, it quickly synchronized with the cursed mirror. Burgeoning killing intent filled it as it charged toward Xiao Nanfeng.
