What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

I went back to the ship to pick up a Credit Chip and… Well…

"Hands up!! Who are you?! How did you get in here?!"

Yeah… I should have seen this coming… But I got distracted by the pheromone thing that I forgot about this…

I raised my hands up as the group of guards had their guns pointed at me, primed and ready to shoot.

"Hold on… I'm a guest of the Head Researcher of this station. I'm the captain of the ship that just boarded at your station."

"A very likely story. Where's your visitor pass then?"

"You guys don't have visitor passes…"

I'm not even making that up.

While they did have security checkpoints at the docking bay, they do not usually have visitors so they had no such thing as a visitor pass.

If it was someone that was supposed to be there, they would already be registered inside the system so there was no need for passes.

But since we were only here for a very quick visit, they saw no need for me to be registered in the system, since I was expected to leave in less than an hour.

Ironically, the guards didn't escort me from my ship because those that were available were occupied with escorting those researchers back to their places after they had all rushed out for my ship.

The sole guard that was in charge of watching my ship, whom I also believe was less than a week into his current job, didn't know what to do with me at first. But I insisted that it would be alright since I knew the way and he reluctantly let me go by myself.

Which is why I now find myself in my current position… And I repeat again, there's no such thing as a visitor pass here.

The guard paused, though he never lowered his rifle.

He then took another few more steps towards me, "You said the Head Researcher invited you here?"

"Err… Inviting would be a stretch… He's purchasing something and I need to go and collect the payment from him at his office. I thought he would be the one supplying the Credit Chip for the transaction but turns out he's a goddamn miser so I had to come back to my own ship to get one myself."

There was another pause from the guard interrogating me before he nodded at me, "What's the name of the Head Researcher?"

"Err… Hasani Jawara? Guy with the lion head and paws? Apparently also gay?"

One more pause and I realised the pauses were the guards whispering to each other through their own comms when I heard the guard in front of my mutter under his breath.

I was kind of hoping that the information I gave him would be enough to prove that I was indeed telling the truth but then he hefted his weapon and gestured at me with the muzzle of his gun.

"Nice try, but we're not going to just let you go just like that. We're going to have to detain you for now."

Ughh…

"Can't you just escort me to the Head Researcher and then have him vouch for me? That would clear up this whole misunderstanding immediately."

There was another pause and the guard scoffed, "Not happening. You might just be heading there to kidnap or assassinate him and we're not going to risk that. You're coming with us."

This is so annoying… I should have just tried to sneak there instead of walking there normally…

"Fine, whatever… I just want to make sure that you guys would at least check with the Head Researcher to confirm what I said and release me once you know that I'm telling the truth."

"You're in no position to--"

"Captain?"

All of us turned to the side and I found Mara standing there with the Head Researcher following behind her, both of them looking at the scene in front of them with confused expressions.

"What is happening here?" She asked.

The guards stared at her for a moment before they quickly switched to aim their guns at her, "You there! You're also not on the list! Who are you?!"

I cleared my throat, "Ah… She's my crew mate. I told you we were meeting the Head Researcher didn't I? She had accompanied me to his office but stayed there when I went to get the Credit Chip. If you don't believe me, you can ask the guy himself since he's also right there."

They shifted their gaze to the Head Researcher and he nodded, "What she said is true."

The guards relaxed after hearing that, all of them lowering their weapons.

The leader then turned to me, "Fine… But next time visitors like you need to be escorted around. Don't do that again."

Right, right… Not that I plan to visit here again in the first place so his threats don't matter to me.

They then continued with their patrol, leaving me with Mara and Hasani.

Eh? I thought they would check Hasani as well? Guess this group isn't that strict or something.

"So… What are you doing here?" I asked, having fully expected them to stay in the guy's office instead of walking out here.

"You were taking a while to return, Captain, and I thought something might have happened to you. Also, it seems like I have a customer."

I raised an eyebrow before turning to the researcher beside her, eyeing him purposefully.

He squirmed slightly before nodding, "I… I did not know that your crew mate was also a Gene Splicer… So… Umm… I requested for her services…"

I shifted my gaze back to Mara, silently wondering how did he even find out that she was a gene splicer because I most definitely did not tell him that.

Mara lowered her head slightly, "I made some comments on his mods, Captain… And he figured out that I must have been either an enthusiast or a gene splicer. I did not see a reason to lie so I told him that I was the ship's doctor as well. Then he asked if he could make use of my services as a gene splicer to splice some gene mods for him. I thought that I should ask for your permission for that which led us to leave the room and to look for you."

"What about the Credits that we were supposed to get from him for the sale of those Psionic Crystals?" I asked.

Mara lifted up a Credit Chip, "I made him go and procure one from the station to transfer it to us, Captain. All the money is in here, please give it a check."

Oh, that's pretty efficient.

I took the Credit Chip from her and plugged it into my Codex, navigating it to the screen that showed my current financial status where I could transfer in and out money.

There, I could see that the Credit Chip that was plugged into my Codex had a total of twenty one million Credits loaded up so I suppose everything was in order for that.

I then addressed the new issue we seem to have, "We're… Not going to stay here any longer than we need to… Right? And we're also not doing this for free, right?"

Mara shook her head, "He has some of the leftover pills so I can just give those a scan and give the person himself a scan before altering the pills to customise it for him. The entire process shouldn't take more than a few hours at most. And no, he will be paying us for the procedure."

Ok, that's good then… Because I certainly do not want to stay here longer than I have to.

"So I guess we're going back to the ship now?" I asked.

"That is correct, Captain."

I then turned to the lion guy, "Do you need to put in a request somewhere or a leave of absence? Last thing I want to deal with is your station's security trying to claim that I am trying to kidnap you or something…"

"Ah… I dealt with that as well. I already sent a notification out to the parties involved so they should know what I'm doing. There is no need for you to worry about that."

I highly doubt it but it's not like I know how the procedure works around this station so I was just going to have to take his word for it…

I nodded, "Fine then… I suppose we should get back to the ship and get him set up… But just a quick question… Could I watch?"

The lion guy responded to my question before Mara could, "Oh! Are you perhaps also a gene mod enthusiast as well? Oh wait, what am I talking about? You literally have a gene splicer on board so of course you do. Tell me, what mods are you interested in? Have you gene spliced yourself in any way? What kind of mods are you willing to use? Are you experiencing any side effects?"
