Chapter 885: 259: Dichotomy Rift

Chapter 885: Chapter 259: Dichotomy Rift

Aiwass arranged a simple altar in his own bedroom and stepped onto it.

The altar had three levels, consisting of triple concentric rings.

On each of the four corners of the outermost ring of the altar, there were five rubies, five pieces of amber, five sapphires, and five emeralds, representing fire, earth, water, and wind, respectively.

And in the middle ring, between earth and water, there was a piece of ice, signifying “cold”; between wind and fire, there was a Flame Spirit, indicating “heat”; between water and wind, there was a pearl, meaning “moisture”; between earth and fire, there was a clump of yellow soil, signifying “dryness.”

In the innermost ring was a round piece of yellow jade.

Symbolizing balance.

...

When the altar took shape, the Force of Equilibrium flowed within it—as if four-colored beams of light, like auroras, flowed back and forth, filling the room with visible phenomena.

It wasn’t until Aiwass stepped up, level by level, that his presence briefly disrupted the Force of Equilibrium.

“— I call upon the Hourglass, the divine entity of the sacred number five!”

With each step Aiwass took, he called out loudly.

“Divine entity of boundless connections, harmonizing all aspects—

“The Hourglass of Balance!”

As Aiwass stepped onto the highest level of the altar and subsequently invoked the sacred name of the Hourglass.

The genuinely powerful Force of Equilibrium immediately overwhelmed Lily and Selene, who were watching the ceremony—

Lily suddenly held her breath.

She vividly felt all her strength being sealed by an immense, invisible, and colorless force.

It was an experience entirely different from the compulsive seals of the Path of Authority.

It was not as though a strong lock had been set, nor that nails had been hammered in, with orders forbidding certain actions…

…but rather “a perfect neutralization.”

As if one was capable of controlling flames, the same degree of coldness was added in equal measure and rate. The strength was still utilized, but it had no effect on the external world… Like making a person step on their own foot, or as if one were to fish oneself up with a fishing rod—that would naturally be impossible.

The Transcendental powers were overwhelmingly covered by the Force of Equilibrium, and within this entire space, all other forces aside from the Force of Equilibrium were “forcibly neutralized.”

Within this domain, likely all powers would be ineffective… Any spell would disintegrate automatically before taking form.

It was as if this were a world devoid of any Transcendental powers—

However, the presence of the Force of Equilibrium alone dominantly covered everything.

Aiwass was immersed in the aura of the four-colored lights.

Yet his consciousness briefly entered the rift between the Material Realm and the Dream Realm.

—Yes, that was the house Morgan had given to him and Isabel.

As soon as Aiwass opened his eyes, he saw a thin, old man in a yellow robe with white hair and beard, scrutinizing his surroundings, his brows slightly furrowed, and with a trace of disdain.

“Young man, take care of your body.”

The Hourglass criticized with neither harshness nor lightness.

Aiwass noticed that the Hourglass now had his left hand above and his right hand below.

This seemed to indicate a scholar personality that was less agreeable, more strict and somber.

Therefore, Aiwass went straight to the point: “I want to use the Dichotomy Rift now.”

“Your path is very balanced at the moment.”

The Hourglass did not ask why, only reminding him.

“But afterwards… I will be wearing The Holy Crown.”

Aiwass replied, “At that time, my path will start to become less balanced… And during sleep, I won’t be able to summon you to divide me. That might lead to some hidden dangers or instabilities…”

“With me here, such low-level mistakes will not occur.”

The Hourglass spoke lightly, “Even if you wear The Holy Crown, I can precisely separate the other you out…”

But the old man did not say much more, nor did he attempt to persuade Aiwass.

He just slightly opened his sleeve and separated his hands.

As his hands parted, that nebulous entity, neither black nor white, akin to a rift in the world, emerged once again.

“Specifically, how would you like to cut?”

Hourglass asked indifferently, “It will definitely involve separating the Paths of Balance and Transcendence… Beyond that, do you have any other requests?”

“I possess the blessing of the Gemini Mirror on me.”

After a moment’s hesitation, Aiwass spoke up, “It allows me to transform into another race. But if I am seriously injured or struck by a blunt weapon… the ‘mirror’ will shatter.”

“Hmm, Illusory Blood, I can see it,”

the elder spoke in a tone neither light nor heavy, “Get to the point.”

“I want to… split reality and reflection. To turn the me in the mirror into something tangible…”

“You want your Transcendent alter ego to become the Son of the Moon? Is that what you mean?”

Hourglass summarized Aiwass’s request into a more precise and concise version.

“Ideally, I should be able to switch between three forms,” Aiwass hastily emphasized, “My Illusory Blood has three states…”

“There has to be a primary entity. You surely can’t split into three upon being attacked, can you?”

Hourglass reminded him, “You can use another form to go about your daily activities. But there has to be a ‘true you’… And I would remind you, since you’re splitting yin and yang, your other self should preferably be female, to make it dividable in terms of yin and yang. Otherwise, it might be necessary to split your personality… from my past experience, it’s best not to alter one’s persona.”

“Yes, I understand,”

Aiwass nodded, “Let’s set the primary entity as… form number 14.”

“The little girl, right? Adult male and female as avatars… Let me confirm one more time, is this the correct division?”

“Yes, that’s right. I confirm.”

“And what about those little cards of yours? As the strength of the Path of Transcendence, do you want them all to go to this alter ego? Or do you want to divide them between Transcendence and Balance as well?”

Hourglass pressed further.

…That is, should I leave Little Butterfly behind?

After some thought, Aiwass decided to take her with him.

It wasn’t that there were no dangers in the Holy Nation… but rather because the Phantom Cards could see the outside world through Aiwass’s body.

Aiwass might go to Star Antimony for an adventure with the crows; but leaving Little Butterfly behind to be imprisoned… didn’t sit well with him.

“Never mind, let’s allocate them all to this Transcendent alter ego.”

“Fine.”

Hourglass closed his sleeves again and simply said, “Then you may go back.”

“When will you split?”

Aiwass began to ask.

But as soon as she spoke, she was startled—her voice had turned into that of a crisp young girl without her realizing it. And there was another voice in the air, familiar yet somewhat strange, because the voice one hears oneself is different from what others hear.

Turning sharply, “Aiwass” saw another Aiwass equally astonished, looking back at her.

“When will I split? Heh, it’s already done.”

Hourglass’s lips curled up slightly, yet his tone became more stringent, “Who do you think I am?

“Go back… Even if it’s just for half a year, remember to come up with a proper name. ‘Number 14’ is hardly a name for a person.

“Remember this, you are a person. Not some thing, and definitely not a product or a piece of merchandise.”

Hourglass lectured solemnly.

The next moment, darkness fell before Aiwass’s eyes.

When he awakened again, a strong, piercing pain emanated deep within his brain.

His soul had never felt so weak… oh, but it had, once. When he gave a part of his soul to Isabel, his soul was this fragile.

Aiwass felt his consciousness split into two—Aiwass and number 14 looked at each other, fingers touching, perceiving a dual perspective and a doubled sense of touch, immediately experiencing a strange sensation.

“Lily, I think I understand you now.”

After a brief moment of hesitation, two voices spoke in unison.
