Chapter 503: Chapter 502: The Disappearance of the Immortal Eternity_1
Upon seeing the Sect Master’s puzzled look, Lu Yang felt even more confused.
“Immortal Eternity, the belief of your Eternity Sect, is called Sha Meless.”
The Master furrowed his brow: “Immortal Eternity is indeed our faith, but judging from what you’re saying, he’s with us?”
“Of course, after your Eternity Sect resurrected Immortal Eternity, he only had a soul without a body, so he needed to find a suitable body. You then called upon all the Foundation Establishment cultivators of the Eternity Sect for a competition. I emerged as the winner and under your guidance, met Immortal Eternity.”
“Afterwards, Immortal Eternity was beaten up in my Spiritual Space. Eldest Senior Sister also contacted the court and eliminated your Eternity Sect altogether, turning all of you into ghouls.”
As Lu Yang continued, the Master’s brows furrowed even more. Lu Yang wouldn’t lie about such matters, so was the problem with his memory or theirs?
The Master ordered Master Liu, Master Gao, and others to verify if Immortal Eternity had manifested.
From the two grilling masters to the three beautiful ghouls, all denied having seen Immortal Eternity.
“In my memory, the initial call for a competition amongst all the Foundation Establishment members of the Eternity Sect was to select promising young talents as reserves for the Eternity Sect’s leadership. You indeed won that competition, but just as I was going to award you, the court broke in and arrested us all. Shortly thereafter, we were all turned into ghouls by Master Yun Zhi to repay our sins in this place.”
“At no point during this process did Immortal Eternity appear.”
“Then why have you always urged me to expand and strengthen the grill shop, to open a chain of stores across the entire continent? Wasn’t this goal set by Immortal Eternity?”
The Master denied again: “Not at all. I feel it’s better to strive for a purpose than to drift aimlessly through life. So I asked for your help, Lu Yang, in expanding the grill shop. You then found the Nine Nether Sect to help us open franchises.”
Lu Yang thought of another piece of evidence to confirm Immortal Eternity’s existence: “What about your statue of Immortal Eternity? It used to be so unclear that one couldn’t even distinguish the gender. But after Immortal Eternity appeared, you replaced all the statues with his authentic appearance, and even added a copy of ‘Criminal Law’ in the statue’s hand.”
“That’s not it. One day, when I secluded myself for meditation, I saw Immortal Eternity approaching me in a dream. He held a copy of ‘Criminal Law’ and spoke to me kindly, saying that we were doing well and he would posthaste be truly reborn. After I woke up, I recognized this as a divine prophecy and promptly replaced the statues.”
“But before that day came, our Eternity Sect was raided by both the Seek Dao Sect and the court.”
Immortal Eternity often appeared in the grill shop. Everyone on the shopping street knew him, they just didn’t know he was Immortal Eternity. Lu Yang inquired around other shops, but they also had no memory of Immortal Eternity.
Lu Yang even asked a few Senior Brothers and Sisters passing by, who were regular customers of the grill shop, but none of them had seen Immortal Eternity.
“Could there really be no Immortal Eternity?” After questioning around, Lu Yang began to doubt whether his memory had been distorted, or a false memory had been planted in his mind.
“Fairy, wake up, something’s happened.” Lu Yang shook Fairy Eternity, who was fast asleep.
After the festival, Fairy Eternity claimed exhaustion and overuse of her mind as excuses and fell into a deep sleep within the spiritual space.
Lu Yang didn’t understand what could have tired her out, as she was simply sitting on the platform and had only joined him for one charade.
“What’s the matter~” Fairy Eternity mumbled when she heard the calls, dragging out the last syllable.
With great effort, she cracked open her eyes to look at Lu Yang before turning back and falling asleep again.
“Let this Sect Leader sleep for a while more…” She said and then closed her eyes.
“Immortal Eternity is missing.”@@novelbin@@
“What? The third in command is missing?”
Fairy Eternity sat up abruptly. In their lineage of Eternity, there were three people. She was the first in Command while Lu Yang was the second, and third was Immortal Eternity. The average cultivation level amongst them was of a Semi-Immortal, incomparably strong. But now, with Immortal Eternity gone…
It seemed the average cultivation level was still that of a Semi-Immortal?
It seems like the third in command wasn’t that important after all.
“But that’s not right, how did he just disappear all of a sudden?”
The reaction of Fairy Eternity actually relieved Lu Yang. It seemed like it wasn’t his memory that had a problem, but rather everyone else’s memory of Immortal Eternity had been erased and replaced with new memories.
Lu Yang detailed the current findings of his investigation to Fairy Eternity.
“Hmm, interesting. It sounds like a causality spell was cast, but that doesn’t mean much to me, and since you’re under my protection, you weren’t affected.”
“Causality magic?” Causality was profound and with his current realm, Lu Yang did not need to understand such things.
“Once a person is born, no, actually right from the womb, from when the soul is formed, he forms a connection with the world.”
To explain it better, Fairy Eternity conjured up a piece of white paper and drew a circle on it.
“This circle represents you when you were just born.”
She drew another circle not so far from it.
“This is someone else.”
She connected the two circles with a line.
“After you’re born, others see you, you form a causality with them. Similarly, you see them, and causality is formed between you two.”
“You are strangers, so the causality is light. He looks at you once and soon forgets you, and you two would have no more causality.”
“Let’s say when you were born, you were extraordinarily powerful and ended up breaking his leg. He will definitely not forget you, and hence the causality between you will be deepened.”
As she spoke, she thickened and darkened the line that connected the two circles. It was now very prominent.
“As you grow older, the people you come into contact with increases, and so the causality with the world also increases.”
“Your playmates from childhood, the peers and elders you came into contact with after joining Seek Dao Sect are all the existences that have a close causality with you.”
“Some cultivators choose to live as hermits because they develop too many causalities in the mortal world, which are unfavorable for cultivation.”
“When everyone forgets your existence, the causality between you and others ceases to exist. That’s the situation the third rank is facing currently.”
Lu Yang hadn’t noticed it before, but now he realized that ever since Immortal Eternity was reborn, he only had a limited circle of contact.
Upon his birth, he had come into contact with the upper ranks of Eternity Sect. He then met Lu Yang, Fairy Eternity, and the Eldest Senior Sister. Later he came to Seek Dao Sect and met the people on the shopping street and the disciples from Seek Dao Sect.
As long as the traces of these contacts were severed and causality was cut off, everyone would forget about him or get their memories replaced. Then, this person would lose all connection to the world.
“Of course, considering the cultivation level of the third in command and how everyone has cleanly forgotten him, causality spells as I know them wouldn’t do that. Maybe in your era, they’ve researched stronger causality spells, or someone must have reaped a Dao Fruit related to causality.”
What do you think?
