Chapter 808 807: High Efficiency
Lu Yang wondered how the Refining Peak relied on patent fees to make money for the Seek Dao Sect with this kind of mindset.
He felt that he was ultimately someone with a steadfast Dao heart, and although he was surrounded by a bunch of lunatics, he had never been disturbed by these people and his thinking remained sane.
Fairy Eternity nodded in approval at Lu Yang's inner thoughts and pointed at the five Elders, "Exactly, they are all lunatics, only the two of us think normally."
"Just look at what the Yaoyang Sect has been researching, utterly failing to make full use of solar energy."
"If it were me, I'd simply push the sun towards the far northern lands, melt the glaciers, revive the vegetation, and make the climate pleasant."
Lu Yang thought to himself, does Fairy want to turn the far north into the far northern seas?
When Lu Yang returned to Sky Gate Mountain, ready to hand over the offerings collected from the Jiuyou Sect to Eldest Senior Sister, he happened upon Eldest Senior Sister and Meng Jingzhou talking about something.
"Junior Brother is here too, that's perfect. You two are clever, it's suitable for you to handle this matter," Yun Zhi called Lu Yang over.
Initially, Yun Zhi wanted Lu Yang to handle it, but at the time, Lu Yang was busy hoodwinking two Sect Masters at the barbecue stand, so she had to settle for a second choice and called Meng Jingzhou, who had just come out of seclusion.
"Eldest Senior Sister, what's the matter?"
"You know that our founder has joined our Sect for a year now, and he has successfully cultivated to the Foundation Establishment Stage," she replied.
"According to the rules, after reaching the Foundation Establishment Stage, each disciple must complete two tasks each year."
"Originally, I thought the founder didn't need to do Sect missions; he had enough experience when he was young."
"But the founder is very stubborn, saying he can't be treated as a special case. He insists on doing the tasks. A few days ago, he just completed his first task, and during the mission, there was an accident."
"What kind of accident?" Lu Yang asked, curious.
"He got lost."
Lu Yang: "..."
"I'm worried he might encounter more danger, so I wanted to find someone sharp to follow him."
"I see," Lu Yang nodded. That was indeed in line with the founder's personality.
"Don't worry, Eldest Senior Sister. Leave it to Old Meng and me; we'll make sure to protect the founder!"
Meng Jingzhou considered another issue, "However, it seems that the founder isn't very willing to have someone follow him. If we were to secretly follow and only intervene when he's in danger, wouldn't that give us away?"
Yun Zhi was also thinking about how both Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou had interacted with the founder. Even if they were discovered, out of consideration for his own dignity, the founder wouldn't make a fuss about it.
After pondering for a moment, Lu Yang said, "This problem isn't too difficult to solve; we just need to add one item to the exchange goods in the Task Hall."
...
"Before setting off, I should exchange for some life-saving items," Daoist Xiantian with an unseasoned face but seasoned in the ways of the world mused, never leaving without preparation.
However, he didn't have any spare spirit stones on hand to exchange for anything too extravagant.
"Let's see, Revitalizing Pills, can quickly restore spiritual essence, a hundred and twenty Contribution Points, a bit expensive, huh."
"Sorrow Breaker, a highly toxic substance, ten Contribution Points... wait, why does the Sect sell poison, and why so cheaply?"
"Triple Yang Strength Elixir, upon consumption one can obtain the power of Triple Yang, significantly boosting fighting capability for a short period without side effects, a hundred Contribution Points."
Daoist Xiantian pondered. It seemed like an elixir for a temporary boost in fighting power, which would be very helpful to him, and the price was right.
```
"That's the one."
Daoist Xiantian finished preparing and set out for his destination.
Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou followed covertly. Now, both were at the Nascent Soul late stage, while Daoist Xiantian was only at the Foundation Establishment early stage, utterly unaware of their presence.
"What task did our ancestor receive?" Lu Yang asked Meng Jingzhou.
"It's said that there's a small village called Wang Family Ditch in Ji State, located deep in the mountains. To reach the town at the foot of the mountain takes two hours of walking. A series of disappearances have occurred in Wang Family Ditch, involving able-bodied young men. These men seemed to have lost their minds, as if lured away by something."
"The government office has sent people to investigate, but alas, no significant findings. The area around Wang Family Ditch is mountainous, and even spreading one's Spiritual Sense would not easily reveal the missing men's whereabouts, let alone the fact that there are no powerful cultivators in that area capable of deploying Spiritual Sense to search for people."
"Senior Brothers from the Task Hall speculated based on intelligence that these disappearances might have been the work of demon creatures that slipped into Great Xia and possess strength below the Golden Core Stage."
Although Daoist Xiantian was at the Foundation Establishment early stage, he had combat capabilities comparable to those at the Golden Core early stage. It could be said that no one in the Foundation Establishment early stage was stronger than he was, a testament to the advantage of starting over after disbanding cultivation.
Lu Yang pondered for a moment, "This task sounds like it will take quite some time. Ancestor has a lot of work cut out for him."
"The disappeared are all able-bodied men. I wonder if the creature is after their masculine energy for a blood sacrifice or covets their robust bodies for Intercourse Cultivation."
Meng Jingzhou nodded, "The demon creature is cautious, making those who disappeared leave the village voluntarily, leaving almost no clues behind. And after such a long time, clues are even harder to find."
The two discussed the task. Had it been them, they'd also have no better plan. They could only start by visiting and investigating to determine any commonalities among the missing, then disguise themselves as ordinary people, hoping to be abducted by the demon creature.
This whole process would take at least half a month.
And that's not counting the journey to and fro.
Daoist Xiantian, riding a flying vessel, closed his eyes to meditate, continually simulating in his mind how to complete the task.
Lu Yang and Meng Jingzhou flew stealthily behind, almost getting detected by the captain.
If they had been discovered, they'd surely be suspected of wanting to rob the flying vessel, like Tribulation Cultivators.
Fortunately, both were seasoned veterans and encountered no mishaps.
Daoist Xiantian estimated that they were almost at the destination. He popped open an umbrella and with a deep leap, jumped into the dense forest. Relaxing his right hand, the umbrella snapped shut and whizzed back to the flying vessel.
"This should be near Wang Family Ditch," murmured Daoist Xiantian, looking around. The desolation gave him a bit of trepidation.
"Should be, right?"
Following the information in the task and his instinct, he walked into the mountains.
After about an hour, he finally saw signs of human habitation.
It was a cave, where at its entrance lay an extinguished fire pit, seeming to have been put out less than a day ago.
Daoist Xiantian entered the cave and, hearing noises inside, quickened his pace. Then he called out loudly,
"Excuse me, could you tell me the way to Wang Family Ditch?"
As he took in the situation inside the cave, he paused, taken aback.
In the cave, there was a seductive woman, bare-skinned, flickering her serpent-like tongue while entwined with several sturdy men.
The seductive woman saw Daoist Xiantian and also froze.
"A cultivator? How did you find this place?"
```
What do you think?
