The first thing that Lin Fan did when arriving in that town in this small dukedom was head to the bar.

That was the first place that Lin Fan went to whenever he arrived in a new town since that was the best place to gather information for any place.

Alcohol was a good way to make lips loose and the people that gathered in bars came from all walks of life. There was all kinds of information that one could get for free just from listening carefully to different conversations at the bar.

There were also some that had some moderate success looking for gold, which was why they came to this bar to brag.

This bar was one that was on the edge of town, a place where only those with a bit of pocket money would come to drink some bad alcohol. These were people that didn't have that much money, so just a few pieces of gold was enough to impress them.

After listening to them for a bit, Lin Fan decided to directly go up and get some information.

Since there was all this information about the appearance of gold in this place, that was what he decided to focus on. It wouldn't be a coincidence for all of this gold to appear like this all of a sudden.

There had to be a reason for the appearance of all this gold and it would be related to the thing that Ye Qing Huan sent him here for.

The man who owned the bag of gold dust happily slapped the table before grabbing one of the drinks that the bartender brought over and chugging it down.

When he finished, he slammed the mug down and began telling his story.

"There I was in the middle of the forest with no idea where to go, but then you wouldn't believe what happened. Out of the bush, there was this deer that suddenly approached me. The moment that I saw this deer, I knew that it wasn't a normal one…"

Lin Fan's lips twitched slightly when he heard this.

He had been hoping for a short and concise answer, but it was clear that he wasn't going to get this from this man. It seemed that the more drunk he became, the more eloquent he became.

This table was the table of a man that had taken out a gold nugget, so he was someone that was here to brag just like the man with the bag of gold dust. In fact, he had been a bit displeased when he saw Lin Fan go over to the man with the bag of gold dust earlier, but now there was a smile on his face.

With that smile, he said, "I knew that you would be able to recognize true talent. Sit and I'll tell you."

When the man with the bag of gold dust heard this, he immediately stood up and slapped his hand on the table before pointing at the man with the gold nugget to say, "You have something that you have to say to me? Why don't you come and say it to my face?"

The man with the gold nugget just ignored him as he started telling his story, but he did the same thing as the man with the bag of gold dust. He only told vague parts of his story and didn't give any actual clues on where he found this gold nugget.

The two of them both wanted to keep this place a secret since they wanted to get more gold out of those places.

But the man with the bag of gold dust was already drunk and his judgement wasn't there.

He saw the words of the man with the gold nugget as a challenge, so he started blurting out things that he had wanted to keep hidden.
