Chapter 1044 1044: Delivering the shipment

Before leaving though, the leader of the black clothed group asked, "Where were you taking this shipment?"

A bitter smile appeared on the face of the vice leader of the merchant group, but he had no choice but to respond since it was all of their lives that were on the line.

The other side didn't seem that friendly when they asked this question.

It wasn't as if he had a choice.

Once he answered, all of them were tied up and they were left there while their cargo was taken by the bandits.

At least they had their lives…

That was what they told themselves.

But in reality, they were frustrated that they had just been robbed like this.

The other thing that they were thinking was…

"Why did they want to know where we were delivering the goods?"

"Master, was it really necessary to leave them alive? Wouldn't it have been better to kill them all?"

Lin Fan was surprised to hear this.

It wasn't Huang Xie who asked this, but rather his first disciple Xiao Ming who asked this question.

Lin Fan certainly didn't expect Xiao Ming to say something like this since he didn't believe that she had this kind of personality. Since she had arrived at the Love Sect, the personality that she displayed was one that was different from her past self.

But now…these words that she said reminded Lin Fan of when he first found her.

She reminded him of the girl that would have done anything to survive.

Only that wasn't what Lin Fan wanted to teach her.

Sure he wanted to teach her to be a bit more vicious when it was necessary, but it wasn't as if he wanted to teach her to be completely bloodthirsty.

So with a shake of his head, he said, "Is there a need to kill them though? It wasn't as if they saw our faces and they are nothing more than middle men, so it's not as if they are part of the enemies."

Xiao Ming knitted her brows before saying, "But the fact that they helped them meant that they might cause harm to us. It's better to pull out the roots before anything can happen."

Lin Fan was once again surprised by her words.

He didn't expect her to show this kind of ruthlessness.

He had thought that during her stay in the Love Sect, that part of her had been slowly grinded down and she no longer felt that she would have to be this brutal to survive. But it seemed that this wasn't the case as this side of her was still hidden deep down.

Of course, it wasn't as if he was planning on giving up on her.

Xiao Ming was Lin Fan's first disciple, so he would do what he could to make her feel that it was alright to trust people. He would make her feel that it was alright to not always need to kill.

Though it did go against the dog eat dog rules of this world.

Still, he didn't want his disciples to follow the same rule as the rest of the world.

After explaining it a few times to Xiao Ming, it seemed that she wasn't going to argue anymore. Though it was also clear that it wasn't because she was convinced by his words, it was just that she didn't feel like she could accomplish anything by saying anything else.

So Lin Fan just turned to Huang Xie who gave a nod in response to show that he would keep an eye on her.

Lin Fan knew that Huang Xie was the one that learned the most from him, especially when it came to his personality. Huang Xie was the one that he could trust the most when it came to matters like this.

He would leave it to Huang Xie to keep an eye on her.

"Boss, we're done here."

These were the elders that had been inspecting the goods that they had just stolen from the merchants.

As for why they were calling him boss, well it wasn't as if they could call him sect master.

For what they were planning to do, it wasn't as if Lin Fan could reveal his identity.

That was why right now, they were using the identity of a bandit group to steal this shipment. Only before they reached the city, they quickly stopped by the side of the road and changed their clothes.

When they were done, they had the appearance of merchants.

It was as if they were ready to sell this shipment that they had stolen.

It wasn't that the Love Sect was short on money that they were doing this, it was because this shipment was actually related to the matter that Lin Fan was looking into.

This shipment was most likely headed to one of the labs that they were looking for.

However, it wasn't as if this was a guaranteed fact.

In fact, they had already been wrong not just once, but twice.

Lin Fan had already led this group to ambush two different caravans that had been carrying the same goods, but it had turned out that they weren't related to any labs.

They were actual merchants that were just transporting goods to places that needed them.

It was just a coincidence that they were transporting the same goods as what was needed by the lab. They weren't actually transporting their shipment to any labs.

So it was only natural that they had their doubts about Lin Fan's plan already.

But who told him to be the sect master of the Love Sect, the sect that they belonged to. Since he came up with this idea and gave the order, they had no choice but to follow him and attack these caravans.

Though the one thing that Lin Fan did was make sure that the merchants that they wronged were compensated in different ways.

Whether that was by the Mu Empire government or privately by the Royal Style Store.

This time, they were heading to a city to trade this.

The last two times were in a village and a place in the middle of nowhere. Those two times had seemed the most likely that they would lead to a lab, but each time had ended in failure.

So it wasn't as if they had much hope this time.

But when they met with the client…

"You're finally here." The client that the vice leader had described was very easy to recognize and it seemed that he recognized them as well. Though it seemed like he was paying more attention to the goods that they had brought, rather than to Lin Fan and the others.

It seemed that he was almost impatient about bringing this shipment back with the way that he was acting.

It really seemed like he wanted to get back as soon as possible, though we had no idea why he was acting this way.

But since he was…

"Yes, do you want to check the shipment and see if everything is in order?" Lin Fan said in a polite manner even with the rude way that the client was behaving.

The client seemed impatient, but that didn't mean that he was planning on rushing everything. With a wave of his hand as if he was telling them to get out of his way, he went over to the carriage and inspected what was inside.

He didn't look carefully though, showing that he didn't seem to care about the items.

He just gave a quick look as if he was making sure that everything was there.

Once he was done, the client turned around and waved his hand behind him before saying, "Come on then, let's bring this stuff back."

Lin Fan slightly knitted his brows since based on what the vice leader said, they shouldn't have had to deliver the shipment the rest of the way. Though in his mind, it didn't seem like this was a bad thing.

If the client was asking them to deliver things, it meant that they were planning on keeping things a secret. Or they were planning on doing something to them.

Either way, it wasn't as if this was a bad thing.

But before he could agree, there was one thing that Lin Fan had to do.

"That wasn't the agreement. The agreement was to bring these items to you and then you can deal with them however you want. We're not doing extra work for no money."

The client knitted his brows too when he heard this.

He then narrowed his eyes to look at Lin Fan.

Lin Fan could have sworn that there was a trace of killing intent in his eyes, but he also saw that it quickly disappeared.

After a moment of silence, the client said, "I'll pay extra then. Help me deliver these items as well."

Though he was keeping his calm, it was clear by the look in his eyes that the client was already filled with rage.

Lin Fan however didn't seem to care at all about this as he said, "Money first."

The client seemed to grit his teeth when he heard this, but he eventually took out a small bag of money that he tossed over to Lin Fan, "That's all you're getting."

Lin Fan looked down at the bag and went through it as if he was considering it.

At that, the client pulled out another small bag of money that he tossed at Lin Fan before turning to leave as if he didn't care anymore.

When Lin Fan saw that, he laughed deep down, but he had a begrudging look on his face as he led everyone to follow the client with the carriage.
