Chapter 477: Chapter 220 The First Metal Witchcraft (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)_2

“Knock, knock, knock!”

There was a sudden knock at the door of the training room.

Mary, a major in a navy uniform, stood smiling at the door, looking at Rein.

“Lord Rein, I heard from the guard that you’ve been practicing here for two hours. So, I had to intrude,” she said.

“Of course, Major Mary, let’s talk in the office next door,” Rein smiled and gestured Mary to the adjacent office.

He knew that Major Mary had come to him with matters to discuss.

Once they were in Rein’s office,

Mary said, “Lord Rein, regarding yesterday’s situation, I have drafted a letter and will report to the fleet immediately.”

Additionally, she added, “I wanted to ask for your opinion, Lord Rein. For your and Vinica’s rescue of the Fish-Dragon Squad, the navy will surely commend you. Do you have any special requests regarding this reward?”

“Of course, I will compose another letter to General Xilva to assist in this matter, as, by tradition, since you are not part of the navy, tangible rewards are typically converted into Merit Points and Imperial Gold Coins,” she explained in detail.

Rein nodded his understanding.@@novelbin@@

Because he wasn’t a part of the navy and the rescue wasn’t an established mission, the navy’s awards would only be in Merit Points and Gold Coins without any additional items.

If he wanted something special, he would need General Xilva to intervene on his behalf.

That was one advantage of having connections.

Naturally, if General Xilva ever needed a favor in the future, Rein would be expected to reciprocate.

The problem was, without a reference point, Rein was unclear about the value of his contribution to the rescue mission and what it could bring him.

Asking for too much could suggest an arrogance of success, while asking for too little could mean a personal loss.

However, having looked at Major Mary, Rein quickly had an idea and smiled, “Major Mary, if possible, I am interested in the ‘Sharpness Technique,’ a metal-based witchcraft cast by Lord Trevo.”

“I’m just not sure if my contributions are enough to exchange for this spell. Naturally, I will sign a confidentiality agreement as required and won’t divulge any witchcraft awarded by the navy,” he assured.

After a moment’s thought, Mary said, “That should be about right. If it’s just to exchange for the ‘Sharpness Technique,’ your contribution should be sufficient. However, the success of this request still depends on the fleet’s decision.”

“Of course, even if it isn’t successful, you won’t suffer any loss, and you can be assured of your Merit Points and Imperial Gold Coins,” she reiterated.

“Then, thank you, Major Mary,” Rein said with a smile, bowing slightly.

“By the way, Lord Rein, regarding the bounty for Waldo, it has been issued. Here is a bank draft for ten thousand Imperial Gold Coins. Please take good care of it,” Major Mary smiled as she pulled out a palm-sized piece of special paper from her breast pocket and handed it to Rein.

A bank draft?

Rein, feeling the faint energy emanating from the bank draft, examined it closely, noting the peculiar material it was made of and the apparent marks of a special witchcraft. The heading read ‘Dragan Empire Central Bank Draft.’

The amount specified was: ten thousand Imperial Gold Coins. It was encircled by details such as time, ‘Payable at Sight’, and other phrases.

On the back of the draft was the stern visage of an elderly man.

Major Mary interjected, “This is His Majesty the First Emperor of the Empire. Moreover, Lord Rein, this draft from the Central Bank of the Empire can be cashed at any bank within the empire’s territories within a year.”

“If it expires, reprocessing it through the navy can be quite troublesome,” she warned.

“Very well, Major Mary. I will cash it soon,” Rein acknowledged with a smile and a nod.

“Lord Rein, pardon the interruption; I’ll now make contact with the higher-ups,” Mary said as she stood up gracefully, ready to leave, her elegant figure retreating.

Just then, Rein suddenly thought of something, “Major Mary, I have a question. If the enemy from the previous encounter was from the Eagle Federation, what is the empire’s stance towards their intrusion into our territorial waters?”

Upon hearing the question, Mary stopped, her lovely face tensing as she turned back,

“Lord Rein, I inquired with the intelligence department about this yesterday. There’s no response about the specifics of the enemy yet. Most likely, they are similar to the Fish-Dragon Squad, pertaining to a special division of the Eagle Federation.”

“But concerning small-scale infiltrations like this, neither the empire nor the Federation has a good solution at the moment.”

“Given the current situation, both the Empire and the Federation are wary of each other. They may have small skirmishes, but they won’t engage in actions harming civilians on a large scale. In this aspect, cults are more of a threat,” she explained.

Rein nodded, “If that’s the case, then that’s for the best.”
