Chapter 536: Chapter 235: Observations (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)
Lord Rein looked up and saw a team of Holy Temple Knights escorting Archbishop Rudolph rapidly approaching the mansion’s entrance.
Without delay, Lord Rein stepped forward with a smile and said, “Archbishop Rudolph, what brings you to visit in person on such short notice?”
Archbishop Rudolph watched the young man before him with a pleasant smile, thinking to himself that it had been only a few months, and yet Rein’s progress had been so rapid that even he could no longer see through him.
“Baron Rein, I am here on behalf of Bishop Shion to bid you farewell. I hope that this time you will successfully join the Imperial Sword Bearers and bring honor to Meister.”
“By the way, Baron Rein, here is a letter personally written by Bishop Shion, addressed to Sir Brandel, the Punishment Knight of Mingster Cathedral.”
“Sir Brandel is an old friend of Bishop Shion, and should you encounter any trouble in Mingster, you can seek his help with this letter.”
“In addition, Sir Brandel is a renowned Warhammer Master within the church, known to all. You, being the ‘Iron Hammer Baron’ of Meister County, should find much common ground with him.”
Rudolph continued, his smile unchanging, as he retrieved a letter sealed with red wax from his bosom and handed it to Rein.
“Punishment Knight?”
Noticing Rein’s slightly puzzled look, Rudolph explained with a smile, “A Punishment Knight is a term within the church for a knight specialized in combat-oriented advancement.”
“I see.”
“Thank you, Archbishop Rudolph, and please convey my gratitude to Bishop Shion as well for his concern,” Rein said, bowing slightly in appreciation.
A Warhammer Master?
Rein began to understand the bishop’s intentions; although subtle, the implication was that he should consider joining the church, and Sir Brandel might become his mentor.
The twin-tailed girl watched the scene with sparkling eyes, thinking to herself that Lord Rein seemed to have a deep connection with the Goddess Church.
…..
Soon it was time to depart, and Rein bid farewell to his teary-eyed mother Emma, his father Old Rein, and his sister Bo He.
He exchanged resounding slaps on the back with Hass and waved goodbye to Jennifer.
The party then set off.
This time, Rein did not ride his black horse but traveled in a luxurious carriage that the lady Jennifer had arranged in advance.
At the moment, there were a total of three extravagant carriages in the convoy: one for the close friends Jenny and Agatha, one that Rein was currently in, and another brought by Vinica from the Rosby County.
However, the three girls of similar age were having a lively conversation, so Vinica had joined Jenny in her carriage.
Rein didn’t mind being alone, giving him time to ponder some matters.
But in the afternoon, Vinica came to Rein’s carriage, ostensibly to discuss matters concerning their upcoming assessments.
Yet, women are often keenly sensitive in certain respects.
Through the carriage window, seeing Vinica enter Rein’s compartment, Agatha nudged her companion Jenny and said:
“My lady! Your rival has entered Lord Rein’s carriage, and you don’t seem to have any reaction at all?”
Jenny glanced at her friend with her beautiful eyes, thinking, what reaction should I have?
Baron Rein was already her mother’s boyfriend. What reaction was she supposed to have?
But of course, this secret was one she could not disclose, not even to her best friend.
So Jenny retorted irritably, “Agatha, what reaction do you think I should have?”
“Shouldn’t you find a reason to join Baron Rein in his carriage too?” Agatha said as if it were the most natural thing to do.
“Thanks, but no thanks!”
Hearing Jenny’s resolute refusal, Agatha examined her friend carefully and said, “Jenny, you seem a bit off kilter!”
“You used to be quite smitten with Lord Rein, didn’t you? Why have you become so indifferent lately?”
“Ah, as your best friend, I must warn you! If you’re truly uninterested in Lord Rein, then I might just make my move,” Agatha said, blushing slightly.
“What do you mean?” Jenny’s beautiful eyes widened, stunned as she looked at her friend.
Had her best friend developed an interest in Lord Rein too?
Upon hearing Jenny’s question, Agatha rolled her eyes emphatically.
“Jenny, are you not aware of how popular your Baron Rein has become in County Town lately?”
“I assure you, if Lord Rein wasn’t heading to Mingster this time, there would be a bevy of noble young ladies lining up to visit him every day!”
After hearing Agatha’s explanation, Jenny nodded numbly.
Her friend may have exaggerated a bit, but she wasn’t wrong.
“Besides, Baron Rein is really tall, handsome, and sometimes when I look at him, I can’t help but…” Agatha’s voice trailed off as her cheeks reddened, and she involuntarily tightened her shapely, fair legs beneath her dress.
Seeing her friend in such a springtime reverie, Jenny rested her delicate hand on her smooth forehead, feeling a mix of helplessness and slight irritation as she said, “Go if you want, stop daydreaming here!”
“You agreed to it just now! So now I’m going,” Agatha replied excitedly, picking up the hem of her dress and heading out of the carriage without looking back.
After all, as a best friend, she couldn’t outright steal her friend Jenny’s flame.
But now that her friend had given her blessing, that changed things. With her sense of guilt significantly diminished, Agatha felt it was time to make her move.
What do you think?
