CH.582 Rank-Ups and Arachne Alchemist
CH.582 Rank-Ups and Arachne Alchemist
I guess I’ll start this one off with some Rank-Ups.
I ranked up all of my tamed monsters, starting with Aoi Koiru, my common snake. I just ranked her up with Numeron Force. She is blue, so the blue rank-up.
And she ranked up into a wild snake, an E-rank monster.
Next up, Glad is getting his first ever Rank-Up. I’ve been holding back on him, as he hasn’t always been the best boy, but I decided to finally give it a try. With just the regular Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force.
He went from a C-rank hippogriff to a B-rank dark-wing hippogriff. Aka. a dark attributed hippogriff.
Next, Rani. She was a D-rank magic horse, and I ranked her C-rank space magic horse with Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force.
Yes. You might finally see where Rani is going. She is going to be a space horse. Well she already is one, but an even better one. Just because she can now use Space Magic, well she still needs to learn some, doesn't mean that she is fit to go to space. But eventually, she will be.
… What? I just want to ride a horse to space. Because I feel like it.
Last is Luna, my full moon owl. She might not be a tamed monster, but I still like ranking her up. She is still just a C-rank. Well, about to be B-rank.
She got the Rank-Up-Magic Raid Force treatment. Thanks to her being a ‘winged-beast’, she was able to be ranked up by a Raid Raptor Rank-Up-Magic.
And she went from being a C-rank full moon owl into a B-rank blood moon owl.
What came after Luna I was a bit hesitant about. Because I wanted to see if I could Rank-Up Himeśaila. Now I can’t rank up a regular dragon, they don’t operate on a rank system. But summonable dragons do, so I think it is possible for me to rank up Himeśaila.
So I summoned Himeśaila and asked her if she wanted to try. It didn’t take too much to convince the ice dragon, but what did take a while was picking the Rank-Up-Magic.
In the end, we decided on Cipher Ascension and I used it on her.
And it did work. Himeśaila evolved from an S-rank ice dragon to an SS-rank Prism Ice Dragon.
Admittedly, she was quite beautiful. I mean, Himeśaila always was. Just her perfectly clear crystal-like scales, wings and all of that. But now, it looked like she was lightning up from the inside, her crystal wings spreading that light and causing her crystal wings to shine in all the colors of a rainbow.
She also grew larger, as dragons tend to do. She used to be about 15 meters, when measured to the shoulder if she stands on her hind legs, but now she is around 19 meters. That is quite the growth spurt.
She is also now a bit more mana demanding to summon. Not as bad as Nir, but nearly there.
But at the end of the day, the important part is knowing that I can rank up summoned dragons.
… Now, the big question is, should I rank up Nir? … I probably shouldn’t, but I’m going to try it anyway.
So I summoned Nir and he just agreed to be ranked up with any spell I pick. I went with Numeron Force as the safe choice.
… but the spell ended up failing. I didn’t get any info on why it didn’t activate, but it just didn’t work.
So I tried a few other Rank-Up-Magics, but all of them failed.
Maybe it is because Nir is already an SS-rank? That is basically the rank 12 of summonable monsters. So maybe there just is nothing left for him?
Or maybe I need a custom Rank-Up-Magic? Could be that as well.
I promised Nir I’d look into it, fed him some meat and unsummoned him.
As one last little try, I summoned Hope the succubus and asked if I could try ranking her up. She did allow it, but a Rank-Up-Magic didn’t work on her. Demons don’t operate on a rank system, so it does make sense.
In other news, Sharon is evolving. I’ve been leveling her up on the fast track, and now her evolution has come. Took a while, as she is already level 50. I expected her to evolve at 40, but she didn’t.
I made sure the evolution tank we placed her in was one of the large models designed for centaurs. It should be able to fit an arachne body, if she does evolve into one.
… And since nothing interesting enough happened during the time Sharon was evolving, let’s just jump to the result.
She came out the tank as Arachne Alchemist. So she got both a race and class evolution. Maybe that is why it took until level 50? Or maybe it is just the System being an ass. Could be either.
And yes, she got the Alchemy skill.
Sadly, I don’t have alchemist monsters. Well, I have magic alchemists, but they aren’t the types of alchemists I need. They are more focused on transmutation of mana or dimensions, not everyday stuff.
But luckily Sharon is fully trained, and with some time, she should learn her new skill.
And her new body. It won’t be that easy to go from two legs to eight legs. Sharon also needed an entirely new wardrobe. Even most of her tops were unusable, as they had holes in the back for her spider legs. She doesn’t have those anymore. I wonder if that bothers her? Just losing a limb? Or four of them, technically.
If she could use Manamorphic Body, she could make mana versions of them, but that skill is still a prototype. And I don’t know if Magical Arms are the same. Well, maybe Sharon will evolve again and become Multi-Armed. That way she’d at least get some more arms.
After Sharon got used to her new race and skill, I worked with her to make the sodas I promised to Hiro. Yes we had worked on them beforehand, and while they were better, I wanted to make something even better. And I wanted to find ‘local’ incidents you could use to make the stuff.
I won’t become Coca-Cola who keeps a secret recipe in a vault. Not when it comes to drinks everyone should be able to enjoy. Sure the stuff will taste slightly different depending on where it will be manufactured, but our goal is to make recipes that are as close to each other as possible, with as many local ingredients as possible.
We figured out stuff like the vanillin making process. Yes I had an outline for it, but Sharon was able to realize it into something any Alchemist could do. And if you had some specific ingredients, you could do it without being an Alchemist. But apparently an Alchemist could do it cheaply and quickly.
I compiled all of that into a report, because I’d write one for the Sage’s tower anyway, before having Sharon proofread it. I then printed it out so she could send the written report to the Empire. Yes, they do have a letter exchange box for stuff we want to have written down. And yes, they also got the digital version of the report, but only Hiro and the head of the food institute currently have phones, so that won’t get them too far.
Hiro has told me the Emperor is gathering money for a large Celfon purchase that will take place after my first flower planting in the Empire. Which will be soon, by the way. They asked me to start by planting the flowers in the biggest cities, so those places could be connected with the Celfon network, and I agreed with that. And that is just 22 cities, so it won’t take quite as long to get all the materials for it.
And the Empire is supplying me with the monster cores needed for it. Sure I have to have my monsters convert them into magic stones, but I don’t have to worry about getting the cores.
And I do have plenty of flowers. While the variants that produce Spell Counters can’t reproduce, because the installs mess with them or something, we can plant the regular flowers and have them spread. Then we collect them. I install Magical Plant Mandragola into them to make them ready for planting.
And yes, I can keep the flowers in Storage even after the installs. Plants and Storage are weird. Plant monsters can’t be placed into Storage, naturally. A tree or flower that is rooted to the earth can’t be placed into Storage.
But if I cut down a tree, just saw the base of it, I can immediately place both the trunk and the roots into Storage.
Flowers are a bit different. If I have a potted plant, I can place the pot and the plant all as ‘one unit’ into Storage. But if I find a wild flower, I have to either dig it up or cut it before I can place it into Storage.
The mana flowers are in little flower pots that are just hardened soil made with Earth Magic. They break apart after a few hours, but since Storage freezes time, that isn’t a problem.
I also visited the Nixie clan with Cailie. We’ve had a few students from there, for probably way too long, and it was time to take them home.
And we can always take new students.
The return turned into a small celebration, and we even got Prabhu Jala, their guardian water dragon, joining in with the festivities.
I ended up having a small fight with the dragon, and while I did lose, it was fun. No, I didn’t use any cards. It was me, in my dragon form, versus the dragon.
Fights like this are a good reminder that despite my power, I’m still not the most powerful being in this world. I mean Janina reminds me of that every day, but it is good to have these kinds of reminders as well.
Keeps me more humble, I think. … okay, I’m not that humble, but I try not to be an ass all the time. I still think I’m chaotic good. Chaotic neutral at worst.
What do you think?
