CH.611 Portal Exploration Squad: Return Home
CH.611 Portal Exploration Squad: Return Home
[Unika POV]
We spent that night sleeping in the ice citadel. It was a bit problematic for Mer, because while she handled cold decently well, sleeping in a castle of ice isn’t good for her. So I set up our travel house for her to use, while the rest of us slept in ice beds Himeśaila made for us.
Yes, I know. Ice bed sounds uncomfortable. But it really wasn’t. While it was more firm than the beds I’m now used to, compared to sleeping on the ground, the ice bed feels like sleeping on a haystack.
After breakfast with the ice dragon, and seeing that she had changed my ice sculpture to now hold nine tails, we left the citadel and continued on our way.
We had also now accomplished my objectives. Those were visiting Solar Mountain and moving Silon and her family there, and finding both Nir and Himeśaila.
So from now on, I decided that maybe we should start to think about returning. This is day 9, and I promised Brian I would head back on day 15 at the latest.
The Wild Pack members didn’t oppose my ideas and Rahman was bored as he hadn’t had much to do, so we agreed on a route that would take us back towards the portal home.
Still, because of the stops we took so that Mer could look at the local plants and plant monsters, it took us two days to get back to the portal.
Both Mer and Fizza also made new contracts on the way as well.
On day 11, we reached the exit portal. Lua and Cailie were waiting for us on this side of the portal, but still behind the light fence. So as we landed they opened up the fence for us, so we could get home.
Before we could walk through the portal, Lua gave each of us a quick check up. She did them for everyone after last time as well, and like last time, there were no issues.
After getting through the portal, I immediately headed for our private spa room. The travel house we have does have bathing facilities, but they aren’t amazing. So after 11 days of tracking through every environment imaginable, I felt dirty. I can still feel the desert sand in my tails, and I wanted it out. Now.
While I was in the bath, I was joined by the others. Cailie was the first to fly in, followed by Lua and Alice. After them, Brian and Wilma joined and finally, even Janina’s dragon scale avatar joined us.
As we bathed together, I told them about the sights I’d seen in the Monster World. I focused a lot on Himeśaila’s citadel, as it was the highlight of the trip.
In return, they told me what had happened on this side. Like Brian telling me about how he dealt with a fissure that appeared.
[Brian POV, few days before]
On today’s episode of I solve because it unlocks a new Yugioh set, I’m dealing with yet another fissure. No, I’m not bored of them yet, you are.
Besides, I have an experiment to run today. That experiment is with my new Hyper God. Yeah. Not even a super god, we are hyper now. Or maybe Chaos God would be better.
In short, I’m going to see if Numeronius Numeronia can close a fissure. I already Factory tested this, and there it closed a fissure even faster than Exodia, but I want to have some real world data about this.
Luckily for me, unluckily for the world, another one was coming and I had already flown to the location and identified the weak point. There was a tiny foreign already formed in the space, so it wasn’t difficult.
I didn’t rip it open just yet, instead I activated my custom spell, Rank-Up-Magic Infinite Imagination. It was the quickest and easiest way to summon Number iC1000: Numerounius Numerounia, so naturally I used it.
… it also gives Numerounia 6 overlay units, compared to the usual 1. And while Numerounia’s detach effect isn’t the best, it is quite nice.
I then also summoned out Exodia, so he could observe and take over if necessary. I didn’t really understand the structure of dimensional barriers yet, so it was better to have someone who did keep an eye on things.
I was also ready to summon a few monsters to deal with anything that comes from the fissure, but that is only if it is necessary. In theory, Numerounius Numerounia should just kill everything. Either they attack him and die, or don’t attack him and die anyway.
Numerounius Numerounia used his huge wings to rend open the fissure. He then made some sort of hands out of this dark fog, and began working on the fissure with them.
While he was working on the fissure, a few S-ranks appeared from it, but with just a flash of light from Numerounia’s … head … ball … thingy, those monsters died.
Numerounia is really putting my monsters to shame. It is way too strong. I collected the corpses of the monsters, but I noticed that they had quite a bit of miasma in their bodies. Way more than fissure monsters, which already have miasma equal or greater than dungeon monsters, have. So maybe Numerounius Numerounia kills monsters, and people, by overloading their bodies with miasma?
That might be a reason to not use him as much. Miasma is still dangerous, and assuming that he freely uses huge quantities of it, it might not be safe to use him near people. He might be able to overpower the resistance the System gives them.
As for the fissure, it took Numerounius Numerounia longer to fix than it took Exodia. But that is the current Exodia who has learned how to do it. If I compare his speed to the first time Exodia fixed one, Numerounius Numerounia is just a bit faster. But not to the point where it would really matter.
So I think from now on, I’ll use Numerounius Numerounia when I’m in the middle of nowhere and I’ll use Exodia when I’m near cities or towns.
With the fissure fixed, I began to clean the area up, and I noticed that there was a lot more miasma in the air compared to Exodia fixed fissures. So Numerounius Numerounia using it is basically confirmed.
But I couldn’t leave that amount of miasma just hanging, so I took out a miasma stone. They are just magic stones I’ve installed a Cursed Power Stone into. I then used Miasma Control to gather a lot of the miasma into the stone, before I placed the stone into Storage. I’ll trade it to the demons for some service at some point.
I then added a note to my mind's notebook, reminding me that if I use Numerounius Numerounia, I need to clean up the miasma left over. I should bring Cailie with me next time. She can just purify it with her Unique skill.
Lastly, since we dealt with a fissure, I got a new set. .
And since I got a new set, I’m opening ten packs. Let’s get to it.
Gravity Blaster is great. A stacking Attack boost is amazing. And sure, 400 per turn isn’t that much, but it doesn’t have a limit, so … Sadly it won’t carry over to the next summoning, but for that one summon, a monster can get really powerful. Also, the other effect of Gravity Blaster, negating the effects of the monster it battles, is also really nice.
Fishborg Launcher just specials itself from the GY.
Missing Force is trash. I have better cards when I want to mind control someone.
Stoic of Prophecy searches level 3 Prophecy monsters.
Ape Magician is basically a better Missing Force, but the Ape still sucks.
Heroic Advance is … good enough, but I have better battle traps.
Fishborg Planter is like Fishborg Launcher. It just specials itself from the GY.
Tripod Fish can do some level manipulation for Xyz summonings, but it isn’t that great.
And Snowdust Giant is fine. The effect is okay, and he isn’t difficult to summon.
Next pack.
Battle Break is just a worse version of Mirror Force. Or Negate Attack. Depends who you ask.
Heroic Challenger - Night Watchman destroys defense position monsters before the damage calculations, so I guess that is nice.
Solar Wind Jammer isn’t a powerful monster, but I wish I’d had access to it when I was designing airships. Would have been a useful reference. And it is good Synchro and Xyz material.
Electromagnetic Bagworm is kind of decent. It lets you take control of a Machine monster. Which can be a really good effect. The attack lowering part really isn’t that special though.
Final Gesture was at some point used with Cyber Dragons because it can summon the OG from the GY if you control a Proto-Cyber Dragon. But I don’t need it, I have Monster Reborns.
Metallizing Parasite - Soltite is great. Its brother was already a good monster, and Soltite isn’t any worse. Just situationally different.
Mecha Sea Dragon Plesion has okay stats, and the tribute to pop effect is nice, but not amazing.
Heraldic Beast Aberconway gives Heraldic Beasts some GY recovery. Nice, but I don’t need it.
And Uminotaurus just gives Fish, Aqua and Sea Serpent monsters piercing. Good, but I wish Uminotaurus had better stats.
Next pack.
Mermail Abysshilde is quite cute, and I think I’ll give Cailie a copy. She might want it.
Heroic Gift is an interesting draw 2. Give your opponent 6000+ life points, so you get to draw 2. If your opponent didn’t have to be at 2000 or less life points for it, and if it wasn’t a trap, I think people would actually use it.
Puny Penguin resurrects Penguin monsters when it dies. Which is decent.
Heraldic Beast Berners Falcon reduces the level of level 5 and higher monsters to 4. Which is stupid, because if I want to summon a rank 4, I’ll just summon out level 4 monsters.
And Spellbook of Eternity recovers banished Spellbook cards. Nice.
Next pack.
Different Dimension Deepsea Trench is just a Monster Reborn with extra steps.
Snowman Creator is just a random counter generator.
Achacha Chanbara is pretty meh. Sure it specials itself, but the condition isn’t common and I can just normal summon stuff.
Deep Sweeper is fine. Just tribute it for a MST.
Mogmole specials itself from the GY once per duel. Not worth using.
Ignoble Knight of Black Laundsallyn can special itself and can search for Noble Arms cards. Good enough.
Slushy is cute, but in the end, all it does is special a level 5 or higher monster from the GY. And I still have Monster Reborn.
Next pack.
House Duston is interesting. It can special any number of Duston monsters to the field, but it has to be an equal number to both sides. That sounds like some crazy setup, but it probably isn’t worth it, as I don’t remember any deck using it.
Madolche Cruffssant is a cute doggo. You don’t need anything more.
Bull Blader is fine, but kind of sad for this time period. It really should have come out in … some early set.
Noble Arms - Arfeudutyr is fine. Sadly set cards aren’t exactly common, so it is rarely useful for that, but a 500 attack boost is fine.
And That Wacky Alchemy! is just a situational ‘target and destroy 1 monster’.
Next pack.
Heroic Challenger - Extra Sword is great. A 1000 attack boost to an Xyz monster is always nice.
Madolche Ticket is potentially busted. Since it can special from the deck, it can get me any and all Madolche monsters. Even those I can’t yet get from sets I’ve unlocked.
Emperor of Prophecy just takes control of a monster, but way too conditionally.
Next pack.
Snowdust Dragon specials itself, which isn’t necessary for me.
And Abyss Warrior returns a card from their GY to the top or bottom of either player's deck. So no clue if that is actually useful.
Next pack.
Cash Back can negate stuff that needs to be activated by paying life points. So it should be able to negate stuff like sacrificial rituals and things like that. Maybe even all Blood Magic that causes damage, as a blood sacrifice might count as a life point sacrifice.
Xyz Xtreme !! sounds cool. But it actually sucks.
One-Shot Wand gives an 800 attack boost, but it wants to break after one use. And you get a draw out of it.
Madolche Marmalmaide I already had. I got it from the Good Master challenge. And she is great. Not only is she an amazing maid, she can recover Madolche spells and traps, which is nice.
Next pack.
Planet Pathfinder is a monster I probably would have used more if I’d gotten it earlier. Just as a summonable ‘carriage’. But now, it is just a worse Terraforming.
And Mermail Abysslinde specials Mermail monsters from the deck. Which is great.
Next, and last, pack.
Abyss-scale of the Kraken is kind of cool. It looks interesting, and I do want to make an armor based on it. It isn’t really Cailie’s style, so I’ll probably wear it myself or gift it to some member of the Nixie clan.
Magic Deflector is great. Just negate all magic for a bit. … It actually isn’t all, as it doesn’t work on normal Spell Cards or Ritual Spell cards. But still nice.
Rage of the Deep Sea has a huge attack stat with the correct setup, so I love it.
And Justice of Prophecy is fine. Tribute it for a search of a Spellbook and a level 5 or higher Spellcaster monster.
All around, not a bad opening. Only bad thing was that I got three copies of Emperor of Prophecy. They took up the rare spot and they aren’t even good.
What do you think?
