Zombie Apocalypse: Creation

Chapter 497 Doctor Tian's Goal

"Xiaoyun, wake up."

"Hm?"

As Xiaoyun felt a warm touch on his face, he finally woke up from his sleep.

Kate was right in front of him, overshadowing him as the sunlight illuminated her back.

"We still have a lot of work to do. Come on. We have to make it there before noon."

"Okay."

After getting out of the sleeping bag, she quickly handed him his clothes before bringing him to the car.

"I need you to create corn syrup, red food coloring, cocoa powder, and a bucket."

Xiaoyu quickly handed over the items as the two of them began heading downstairs to the car.

"Can you create a box that can fit in your SUV?"

After opening the trunk, Xiaoyun quickly created a box that matched perfectly inside the car.

"This good?"

"Yep. Now I need you to get inside. I'll start painting your wound and your dead pose."

Sitting inside the box, he could see Kate mixing the ingredients he had made inside the bucket.

"Close your eyes and start practicing being dead. Hold your breath and reduce your heartbeat."

As everything turned dark for Xiaoyun, he could feel a layer of liquid being applied to his neck, along with a weak metallic smell.

"I hate this plan... You sure this is going to work?" Xiaoyun questioned.

"You're the one who brought me here when I gave up. You aren't going to quit halfway now."

After laying in the box for who knows how long, she finally finished applying the liquid to various parts of his clothes.

"Now we're almost done... I'm going to move your position to make it more natural, okay?"

He could feel his arm and leg being put in a slightly uncomfortable position as they stacked against each other.

"I'm heading back to the front to drive the car... Don't move until you hear me say cat, cat, cat."

As the car came to a stop, Kate was stopped by several guards standing behind an iron fence. Continue your adventure with My Virtual Library Empire

All of them were carrying a Type 95, yet none of them looked like soldiers at all.

It was clear they were foreign mercenaries, considering their skin color was drastically different from the locals.

"Stop right there. This is an off-limit zone." The senior mercenary with a full beard warned as he raised his rifle.

"I'm here to deliver body samples."

As a young mercenary headed back inside, two of them opened the iron fence gate before they followed Kate to the back of the trunk.

"Where's the body sample?" The senior mercenary asked.@@novelbin@@

"Right here."

With a press of a button, the car trunk opened, revealing a wooden box that had a strong metallic smell.

Several of them immediately wanted to leave, but the look from their seniors made them stay.

"Open it." The senior mercenary ordered.

As Kate opened the box crate, it revealed a motionless body lying on the side with a dried blood wound on its neck.

"What kind of body sample is this... Is it dead?"

"It's dead. But it could have been a human sample or a zombie sample. I'm not sure exactly."

The moment Kate mentioned the word zombie, several of the mercenaries took a small step back. Even the senior mercenary changed his mind, opting to leave it alone rather than having a closer examination.

"Boss! The worker told me to bring them in."

A voice yelled down the hall as the young mercenary finally emerged from inside the large building behind another layer of the fence.

"You four, go help her carry the wooden crate inside."

"Yes, sir."

As four of the mercenaries carefully lifted the crate from the car, the senior mercenaries suddenly went to the front of the car.

Going inside, Kate's heart started racing until she saw him coming out with the car keys.

"I'll be taking care of this. You can come and get it when you finish turning in the sample."

"Thank you."

As Kate followed the young mercenary guard towards the second layer of iron fences, she could feel an increased level of security.

Several of the blind spots were way too normal, seemingly to be hiding cameras and underground fort tunnels.

"This isn't your first time coming here, is it?" The young mercenary asked as he turned over a bit to look at Kate.

"The last time I came here was before the outbreak," Kate responded.

"That's a long time ago... Even earlier than when I came here."

After walking for almost a minute, they finally passed all of the security and entered the building properly.

Right at the open front door was a middle-aged man in a lab coat with an ID tag attached to his chest pocket.

Next to him were two younger-looking students wearing the same lab coat with only a tag on their chest.

"Welcome back, Katherine."

"Thank you, Doctor Tian. I brought the sample that you guys had been looking for."

"Perfect... Let's put that aside for now. You two, go help the guard bring the sample to the lab."

"Yes, professor."

As the two students directed the four mercenaries to the right hallway, Kate followed Doctor Tian to the left hallway instead.

"I'm surprised you actually went through with your promise. I thought you were going to abandon them."

"When can I see my family again?" Kate asked, her face unable to hide the impatience.

"Don't worry. Your family is still doing well... I'll bring you to see them tomorrow."

"When are you going to let them go?"

Doctor Tian finally stopped as he turned around to look at Kate, staring her right in the eyes.

"Did I ever promise that I was going to let them go? You think too highly of yourself sometimes."

"You..."

Before Kate could say anything, she suddenly felt a sharp needle piercing through her neck.

"We have eyes, Kate. We know what you're trying to do with that husband of yours."

As Doctor Tian's voice trailed off, everything faded to black as Kate lost control of her body.

---

Meanwhile, over to the other side.

"What the hell is happening? Why are they going to a different place?"

Xiaoyun could tell he was being separated away from Kate, considering what the doctor had said before.

The box continued to be carried forward, but he could feel the outside was starting to move slower and slower.

"God damn, why is it so heavy inside?" A voice complained from the outside.

"I don't know. Let's just get this done and have a nice dinner later, " A second voice answered.

As the speed picked back up, Xiaoyun started creating a rifle in hand as he prepared for the worst.

"I can't carry this anymore. My arm is going to break before I can reach there."

The box finally crashed down, and his body flew up into the air before hitting the bottom of the box.

"One-minute break. The professor said we need this box in the lab as soon as possible."

A younger voice appeared in the conversation, similar to the person who said 'yes, professor' earlier.

"If you had just given us a roller cart, it would have been so much easier than having us carrying this."

"If we give you a roller cart, why do we hire you for——"

Before the first young voice could finish talking, the older voice immediately interrupted.

"Who do you think you're talking to? Say that one more time and——"

"Enough. Justin stops being a whiny little bitch. Just suck it up. Our contract is almost done anyway."

As two older voices shifted into speaking English, the heated argument eventually died down.

After counting exactly a minute, Xiaoyun could feel the box being lifted into the air again before being moved forward.

"How much longer do we have to carry this box?" The older voice asked.

"Just around this corner, and we'll be there."

After another minute, the box finally stopped again as his body flew up again before crashing down.

"Do you guys mind opening the door?"

"You guys can just leave the box here. We can carry it inside."

As footsteps began to walk off into the distance, Xiaoyun could hear a sliding sound as if a door was being opened.

This time, however, he could hear a roller coming in as the box tilted to the side.

"Shit, we probably should have asked them to carry the box onto the roller first." The younger voice murmured.

"What do we do now?" The other younger voice questioned.

"Let's just carry the body into the lab. It's a dead body inside anyway."

"But the professor said we can't open it no matter what... Let's just go call the guards back."

As the second voice quietly whispered to the other person, Xiaoyun's sharp ear still caught onto it.

Within seconds, his brain realized something was off.

His plan with Kate had clearly been leaked at some point. At least to whoever the 'professor' was.

"Hands up!
