Chapter 4 – You are strong and healthy, most suitable for Corpse Refinement
Chu Xuan's interest was piqued. "Who's Boss Zhao?"
Tang Hu was momentarily stunned but quickly replied, "Boss Zhao is the leader of the largest organization in East Lake City, the Spirit Dog Gang. He's Zhao Hong, Boss Zhao!"
Chu Xuan nodded. "Tell me everything about the situation around here."
Tang Hu didn't dare refuse and relayed all the information he knew in detail.
Chu Xuan nodded slightly. "Not bad."
Tang Hu forced a smile. "Big brother, please, for the sake of my brother-in-law and my cooperation, spare me, will you?"
Chu Xuan chuckled. "What I meant was, your physique is quite suitable as material for my corpse refinement."
Tang Hu was taken aback.
Corpse refinement?
Before he could react, the blood steel wire in Chu Xuan's palm shot out, immediately binding his hands and feet.
Tang Hu struggled desperately to break free, only to find that the blood-colored wire was harder than steel and impossible to escape from.
"Big brother, what... what are you doing?!" he exclaimed in terror.
"Refining a corpse. You're strong and sturdy, perfect for it."
Chu Xuan continued to mix the potion, "In a moment, I'll stimulate your resentment, and you'll become a tough corpse soldier."
He was using a secret corpse refinement method called the Vajra Corpse Refining Method, originating from the Corpse Puppet Sect.
However, the Corpse Puppet Sect was not very competitive and was wiped out early on by the righteous sects.
Most of its heritage fell into the hands of the righteous sects, while a small portion was absorbed by the Wuji Sect.
No matter which corpse refinement method is used, the lowest level of Yin Corpse is called a corpse soldier.
Above that are corpse generals, corpse commanders, corpse kings, and so on.
Corpse soldiers correspond to the Qi Refining stage.
Corpse generals correspond to the Foundation Establishment stage.
And so on.
Each realm is divided into nine levels, corresponding to the cultivator's realms.
However, each corpse refinement method produces Yin Corpses with unique characteristics.
For example, the Vajra Corpse Refining Method focuses on tempering the physical body.
Once refined, these corpse soldiers are impervious to blades and bullets, possessing immense strength, enough to rival Qi Refining stage cultivators.
Chu Xuan had previously struggled with corpse refinement mainly because it took too long, making it prone to accidents.
He couldn't stay in one place for too long, so he had to abandon the idea of corpse refinement.
Chu Xuan then took out a large barrel from his storage bag and poured various potions into it.
He then threw the intricately bound Tang Hu into it, completely submerging even his head.
Tang Hu's voice gradually faded.
Chu Xuan solemnly cut his palm, forcing out two drops of essence blood, which he dripped into the barrel.
His face turned slightly pale.
Essence blood is not ordinary blood.
Even though he practiced the Blood Transformation Spirit Snatching Technique to speed up the condensation of essence blood, it still couldn't be condensed in just a day or two.
"Now we just need to wait. According to the Vajra Corpse Refining Method, we should see results in no more than three days."
Chu Xuan lay on a nearby recliner, devouring canned tuna.
He had found it while searching for zombies earlier, and it was still within its expiration date.
"Damn, modern industry really makes delicious food. What was I eating in the Wuji Sect? It was so bland."
Chu Xuan sighed deeply.
After many years, he finally tasted food meant for humans again.

Three days later.
Chu Xuan eagerly stood by the barrel.
Looking at the pitch-black, rock-hard giant.
Compared to before, this person's body had expanded by a circle.
Dense bone armor had grown on the chest, joints, and back.
Its defensive capabilities were astonishing.
Chu Xuan took out a flying knife and slashed at it, leaving only a shallow mark.
He was overjoyed.
He knew he had succeeded.
The Yin Corpse before him had reached the level of a corpse soldier, equivalent to a Qi Refining stage cultivator.
"I just wonder about the quality of this Yin Corpse."
Chu Xuan pondered.
Yin Corpse quality is divided into four grades: superior, upper, middle, and lower.
The better the potion, the higher the Yin Corpse's quality.
A superior Yin Corpse can master four spells upon refinement.
An upper-grade Yin Corpse can only master three spells.
Middle-grade and lower-grade Yin Corpses have even fewer, with two and one spell, respectively.
Chu Xuan had heard in the Wuji Sect that a Golden Elixir Ancestor had once, during his Qi Refining stage, been extremely fortunate to refine a superior Yin Corpse, which had four spells upon birth.
That Golden Elixir Ancestor relied on that superior Yin Corpse to gradually ascend the path of cultivation, eventually reaching the Golden Elixir stage.
Chu Xuan immediately took out a small black tower.
This tower was called the Corpse Raising Tower.
The Corpse Raising Tower is a spiritual artifact specifically used for collecting and nurturing Yin Corpses.
All Corpse Raising Towers come with an identification spell to determine the quality and realm of a Yin Corpse.
Chu Xuan had acquired this Corpse Raising Tower at a low price from a disillusioned middle-aged disciple. It was just a lower-grade spiritual artifact.
This tower had no offensive or defensive capabilities, only for storing and nurturing Yin Corpses.
He always carried it with him, just in case.
Now was the time to use it.
With a thought, Chu Xuan collected the corpse soldier into it.
The Yin energy within the Corpse Raising Tower was abundant.
The corpse soldier became extremely excited upon entering, eagerly absorbing the Yin energy.
Chu Xuan injected a trace of spiritual power to activate the identification spell.
A black light shone upon it.
A thread of golden light immediately rose from its crown.
Chu Xuan was surprised, "A middle-grade Yin Corpse? A second-level corpse soldier? Not bad!"
For his first time refining a corpse, with rather ordinary potions, he had managed to produce a middle-grade Yin Corpse.
He was indeed lucky.
Chu Xuan continued using the identification spell.
Soon, he learned what the two spells of this Yin Corpse were.
Bloodthirsty Technique and Golden Light Curse.
The Bloodthirsty Technique allows one to instantly enter a bloodthirsty state, greatly enhancing combat power.
The downside is that it only lasts for a quarter of an hour.
After using it, one would fall into a weakened state for ten hours.
As for the Golden Light Curse, as the name suggests, it envelops oneself in golden light upon casting, enhancing defense.
With these two spells combined, this corpse soldier was a standard tank.
Though it was only a second-level corpse soldier, equivalent to a second-level Qi Refining cultivator.
But with both spells activated, it could probably hold its own against a fourth-level Qi Refining cultivator for a moment.
Whether used as bait to attract enemy fire or as a lifesaving tool in dangerous situations, it was very useful.
Chu Xuan felt elated.
This apocalypse planet was indeed a great place.
In just three days, he had a corpse soldier as a trump card.
His overall strength had at least doubled compared to three days ago.
"Too bad the materials for refining Yin Corpses are rare, or I'd definitely refine another one."
Chu Xuan smacked his lips.
He casually waved his hand.
The corpse soldier obediently came before him, awaiting his command.
This was the purpose of dripping two drops of essence blood into the potion earlier.
As long as the corpse soldier was well-fed, it would always obey his orders without backlash.
"A second-level corpse soldier should have no problem sweeping through this mall. It's up to you."
Chu Xuan waved his hand and leisurely lay back on the recliner.
The corpse soldier let out a low growl and immediately rushed out.
The next moment, terrifying roars and the sound of tearing flesh echoed through the mall.
Then came the clattering of various objects colliding.
Chu Xuan was unfazed, eating canned food while flipping through books, content and comfortable.
As a demonic cultivator, isn't the goal to live freely and leisurely?
