Chapter 583.1
Side Story: A Day with Rir
One day.
Rir and his subordinates, who were tasked with guarding the dungeon, had now left their territory in the Demon Forest and entered an area inhabited by hostile monsters.
However, their purpose was not to expand their territory.
It was to teach Rir’s daughter, Setsu, how to hunt.
Setsu grew much faster than humans. She was originally the size of a small dog when she was born, but now she had grown to the same size as an average wolf.
She was still a bit of a spoiled brat, and was at an age where she loved to move her body and play, but now she had grown to a size where it was time to start teaching her how to hunt.
In the wild, you start teaching hunting at an early age. Well, Setsu, who was loved by Yuki and everyone, was not exactly living a wild life.
The point was that this was not Rir’s decision, but Rir’s wife’s.
In addition to Setsu, Rir had four other subordinates, but the area they were heading to was outside the Demon Forest, so Rir alone was strong enough to take on all the creatures that inhabit it. It was clearly an excessive force.Seeing this, Rir’s wife smiled wryly at her husband with an exasperated look on her face and then left the residence as if to avert her eyes.
Probably it was because Yuki’s tendency to being a doting parent had been passed on to Rir, or that might just have been a common tendency that happened when one became a parent?
With how much power Rir possessed, most monsters would run away as soon as the monsters sensed his presence.
However, Rir and his subordinates were much better at hiding their power and presence than Yuki and the others, so it wouldn’t be easy for other monsters to spot them if they got serious in concealing themselves. Of course, it would be impossible to stay hidden if they got too close to their targets.
“Kuu” (Rir)
“Ku, Kuu!” (Setsu)
“If you do as I teach you, you’ll be fine.” Rir told Setsu to stay calm, and Setsu nodded with determination, though a little nervous.
The monster they had their eye on now was the Horned Rabbit.
It was a rabbit with horns.
It was a weak monster that Yuki and the others could knock out by just making their presence known, and even Illuna and the others were strong enough to defeat it with only magic, but its horns gave it some offensive power.
The monster was agile, and if one let your guard down, you would be counterattacked, making it the perfect opponent for a first practice hunt.
And It had not yet noticed them.
Rir and Setsu had both practiced hiding in the grass and making their presence invisible, so for now, they had succeeded in not being found.
But the problem was what came next.
Setsu, while nervous, quietly closed the distance until she could stab her fangs into the rabbit, but then, as if sensing something, the Horned Rabbit lifted its head from the grass it was eating.
Deciding that she had been noticed, Setsu leapt low and ran off at the speed of an arrow.
Even though she was young, she was still a Fenrir.
Her body had grown to the same level as a normal wolf, so her top speed was equal to, or even greater than, that of any other wolf.
Sensing that the enemy was approaching, the Horned Rabbit realized that it was too late to run away and pointed its prized single horn at Setsu.
