Volume 13 Chapter 30: Secondary Shot-caller
When the group returned to the academy, they went their separate ways. However, they did have a better understanding of each other. As Sarah opened the door, she could tell most had returned.
Carolyn smiled, “Welcome home, Sarah. How did your exploration go?”
"Pretty good. Was it the same for you all?"
"Mmhmm!" With her new fire magic, she steamrolled any monster in her path. Her frontline was sturdy and could take hits as she launched her magic.
"Keith was the one who came home first." Despite her skills, this man was always one step ahead of her.
Gabriel added, "He's even cooking in the kitchen right now. He's making a feast to replenish our strength." Victory party was a must after what they had been too.
"Great, I need to talk to him." Sarah entered the kitchen. Gabriel and Carolyn glanced at one another,
"He pulled something, didn't he?" "Of course."
"Keith."
"Sarah, you're back. How was it?"
“It was great, but I had the feeling that you knew that from the start.” These types of guesses were something he had a part in.
A light shrug answered her response, “Don’t think of me as all-knowing.” There were things he didn’t know and things he did.
Sarah’s eyes raised, “And this is one of those times.”
"Haha, I just knew you would do fine because it's you." Keith grinned.
"Eh?"
“You're really sharp." Sarah had a keen eye for detail. That was one of the reasons why she was a capable healer: understanding how severe an injury was at a glance. That was essential as a healer because if they healed a minor injury, it would only waste mana.
"Going forward, I thought about you becoming a secondary shot-caller like Gabriel." She was the perfect person for the job. And this exploration was an ideal transition into it.
Sarah grinned, "So you wanted me to grow because you wanted someone to control the backlines?"
“Of course!” Keith grinned, which only caused Sarah to pout before laughing, “You’re a sinful man.”
“Not my fault. Besides, I just know you could do it." He had faith that through this, she would become a great leader. He shouted at the door, "Come to the kitchen; I’ve prepared the food." Turning back to her, "You’re probably tired of everything that had happened. Eat up and regain your strength.”
“Mmhmm!” Sarah wasn’t going to say no to new food and helped out. So did the others as they quickly grabbed the plates. When they were about to eat,
“Where’s Alfia and Scarlet?” Those two have yet to return home. “Oh, yeah. They’re probably going to come home any second now.”
“I see.” That team composition is slowing them down. Given how their group was, it looked more like a romcom, which would cause more issues. As they ate, they entered the mansion.
"Welcome-Woah! What happened to you guys?!" Keith blinked as he stared at the two, who looked like they had gone through a tornado!
"Princess!" "Scarlet!" Faelyn and Krystal brought towels over to wipe them.
"Thank you." Alfia sighed while Scarlet took a deep huff like an old man!
"Take it that something happened?" It was evident that someone had caused trouble. And that was the light to the fireworks!
"Don't get me even started!" "Same! That idiot wanted to show off, so he sliced an explosive!"
"My guy tried to rush in without thinking, and he caused an avalanche!"
"Avalanche?" Keith and the others blinked. What in the world had happened? Avalanches were not easy to cause.
"I want to tear my hair out!" Alfia was so sad and angry at the same time.
"I think you have the case of the hangries as well." Not surprising as he shook his head. The two wanted something to eat. However,
"I don't want to eat when I'm like this." Alfia was covered in dirt, while Sarah was charred.
"Let me help out," Yukiko smiled as she snapped her fingers; slowly, their bodies were cleaned.
"Thank you so much, Madam Yukiko." The two princesses were immensely grateful.
"Let's eat now!"
...
"Alright, let's grade them now." Aidiun and the rest of the instructors were together in the office.
"So the ones who finished the dungeon in a day will be given an A. Are there objections?"
"Nope." They were efficient and quick.
"S-class is too talented." S-class students were quite powerful as they rammed the monsters before them.
"At least they held back a bit." Shire laughed.
"That's because we skewed the parties." The instructors knew about the weakness of S-class. With it, they incorporated students who would help them out.
They wanted to find cooperation between them.
"At least a good number had worked together." There was an upside to all of this.
"Hmm?"
"What's the matter, Tennol?"
"There was an interesting party that I was watching before." Tennol showed the recording,
"Sarah's party was pretty fluid in motion. Instead of adopting the standard approach, they used hit and run tactics, which was interesting."
"So, A?"
"No," Aidiun shook his head, "That party had issues initially. So it should be B+." There were some hiccups along the way.
