Volume 13 Chapter 44: Red Flag
The next day, Keith headed over with the cart.
“The boss is back!”
“Yippe!”
Together, they got a double heaping of both crepes and skewers. There would be so much food in their hands! Keith said, “Please line up and get your food!”
As he was about to get to work, Mir and Lei jumped up and down on his cart. “Yes, yes. Here.” He handed the two little fellas corn before beginning his work.
There was another fellow, “Here’s some corn as well.” The fox girl had come and sat on the bench again. She was holding onto the blanket that Keith had given her. Rubbing her head, that was when he started to get to work.
“So this is the place you’re working at!”
“Ahh, Mr. Erwin, hello!” Keith waved his hand as he saw the guildmaster walking with Kaiser over to his cart.
Erwin grinned, “I heard about it from Titus and Kaiser. I had to show up.” Farming and gardening. This time, it is a chef. But this one made sense since he had been cooking throughout the dungeon.
Keith grinned, “What would you like to have?” “Then I will take as many as you can give me on the first order-What the?”
Erwin’s eyes locked onto Nephele, and his eyes widened before Keith explained, “She’s my worker. You can also order crepes from her as well.”
“…I see.” Erwin and Keith shared a look before they walked away. That was when he whispered,
Erwin and Kaiser shared a look before waiting on the side. Whispering,
“So this is the place you’ve been going to for some time.”
“What about it?”
“Are you really not going to talk about that?” One look. One look was enough for Erwin to understand. What he wanted to ask was why there was a great spirit here?!
I can’t believe he contracted one. That was not a regular thing.
“…Yeah, I’m surprised too.” You didn’t see two, or it would be a problem. There was Diana as well. That gave him a clear picture of what occurred at the S-rank dungeon. If a great spirit and blizzard owl worked together, they would survive!
"Cadmus definitely played a part in this as well." He could tell her aura was being concealed. Only high-level people would be able to discern if she was a great spirit or not.
"Indeed, so don't go blurting it out."
"You know me." Erwin grinned.
"And that's exactly why I'm warning you." If he blurted this out by mistake, then a riot might break loose. Keith might get the brunt of it from the elves.
"Number 12 and 13, your order is up." Hearing their number up, they quickly went and grabbed it. That was when they saw the beautiful steam coming from each food.
"This is nothing like what I had in the dungeon." It was pretty different. Erwin didn't hesitate to take a bite!
“So delicious! Kaiser, how could you not tell me about it.”
“…Did you forget how you ran away like an idiot?” Kaiser’s eyes narrowed as he stared at him. Kaiser was about to go on his long rants again, which made Galven sigh, “Titus, go stop whatever is going on there.”
“…You want me to stop that?” You’re asking for the impossible. Keith laughed as he heard about what was going on.
However, that was when he heard, “What is that disgusting dish?!” Everyone turned their head to a man scoffing at the skewer,
"I can't believe people call this tasty!"
“And they called this one of the best foods in the city?!”
“Trash.” A few customers looked at them in contempt as they shouted loudly. However, Keith swept them away. There was no backtalk or anything!
“How dare you attack paying customers!” “We’ll call the guards!” “You damn bastard!” They continued to shout, but Keith yawned, “Yes, yes. Go back and report to your boss. Go ahead and do that.”
“!” “What? Do you think I wouldn’t know you're being paid?” Keith looked down at the skewers; none of the bites were touched.
“Tsk! Tsk! If you’re going to make bad reviews, at least take a bite.”
Before they even had the chance to say something, Keith shoved the skewers down their throats. That was enough as their expressions brightened as they munched on it. Keith shook his head as he continued to work. The customers had nothing to say but only had one thought, “Good food will change everything.”
Erwin munched on the skewers, “Swift and easy as well.”
“Who dares try to harm the carts?” Erwin couldn’t help but mutter. At this point, these were fighting words.
Kaiser shook his head, “No need to do anything. He already expected the matter.” From how he moved, it seemed he had realized the situation.
“…” What’s with that smile on your face? Kaiser noticed something was off with that grin of his. And it was quite deadly as well.
Erwin grinned, “I guess I need to speak with Cadmus about something.”
“…” Red flag. A big red flag. There was something that was definitely going to be a lot of work in store for him. Once Keith finished his work, he stretched his hands into the air, and it was time to head back home. Before he did so, he patted the fox girl’s head, “Make sure to eat it.”
“…” The fox girl nodded as she waddled off. Leona questioned, “Shouldn’t you adopt her?”
“No.” Keith shook his head, “It’s clear that she doesn’t want to be adopted or still wary of them.” They were talking on a name-to-name basis. But that didn’t mean it was close.
Leona nodded, “Understood.” Keith stretched his hand, "Let's go home."
What do you think?
