Volume 13 Chapter 52: Let’s Do This
"Now! Let's introduce our contestants! On one side, we have one of the great chefs in the city! Please welcome Brian and his compatriots!"
"Wooo!" The crowd cheered as Brian and the sous chefs appeared. They were dressed in their white chef outfit, looking pristine and clean.
"And their opponent is someone who everyone in the academy knows! He has blazed a path that is unheard of for a 1st year! And now he set his eyes on the chef's area! Please welcome Keith Freed!"
"Keith!" "The boss is out!" Keith was casual, wearing his academy outfit as he walked out. However, the academy outfit was enough as it was pristine.
"How are the two of you feeling right now?" Lola then waved her mic before Brian first.
Brian smirked, 'I'm going to win. I'll show everyone what high-class food is."
"Oh, my. Confident words from the seasoned chef. What about you, Student Keith?" Lola's eyes glimmered as she stared at the boy. She was interested in him. The way his reputation exploded in the academy was amazing. It didn't die down either; it only soared.
"My only objective today is to show the judges the wonderful meal I created. I won't see this as a competition between me and my opponent."
"Ohoho! Let's reveal to everyone what ingredients they have picked out. All ingredients were checked out before we showed it-Eh?" Lola's excited and eager expression changed.
When that was said, the ingredients they had picked out were brought before the audience. However, that was when everyone noticed the oddity of the situation! That was because Keith’s ingredients were rotting and spoiled.
“Eh?” The audience was baffled. However, the one who was taken aback the most was Keith as he picked them himself!
Brian snickered, “What’s the matter with your ingredients? To think you would bring before us trash.”
"..." So you did something to them. To have you fallen so low.
“There’s definitely foul play!” Shakti roared as there was no way Keith or anyone would choose spoiled ingredients! She was not alone either as the audience felt something off.
Lola also turned over to the judging panel, who only nodded. The announcer muttered, “Despite the look of the ingredients, student Keith was the one who picked them. Nothing can be done about this!"
"This headmaster! What is he planning?" Tennol and the other professors arrived as well. It wasn't Lola's fault at all. Clearly, one of the judges had to be Cadmus. The dragon gave her the go-ahead.
"..." That idiot. Aidiun sighed. It was clear he was going to get an earful from Sohma.
Coen and the rest of the F-class were worried! They had come to cheer him on, and yet this happened.
Lola continued, “You two will have two hours to complete a three-course meal with your ingredients. Begin!” With the beauty’s words, Brian and his chefs made their move! There was no hesitation in their moves as they began to marinate and prep the meat. As expected of a trio.
They were a seasoned squad that could make a dish that took three hours to prepare in a quarter of the time.
Keith, on the other hand, stared at what was before him. He hadn't made a move, only stared at the spoiled ingredients.
Carolyn and the others were anxious. What was he going to do in this situation?
What do I have on me right now? Right now, check what is usable and unusable. All the vegetables and meats he had planned to use were ruined.
Seasoning is still good. Despite what occurred, his spices were alright. It was because he kept them in a jar.
Moreover,
Potatoes, eggs, and milk. These were his main components. By luck, lemon and orange were left untouched. There were also pearl beets. This made Keith frown. Did these ingredients not get destroyed because they have a shell or skin? But there was no time to think about this; there was another issue.
I don’t have a main dish.
Protein was usually incorporated into the main dish since it would tie the rest together. However, there wasn't any except for eggs. Keith closed his eyes. How long has it been since I felt like this?
Keith? No...As Luis Shin.
A small grin formed on his face as he stared at the challenge before him. Initially, the difficulty of this competition was mid, but it instantly became hard. Taking off his blazer and rolling up his sleeves,
Let’s do this. It was time to show everyone why he was considered the best chef.
“He’s smiling.” “But what can he do with those ingredients?” The others were still concerned about what he had prepared for them.
He was definitely on the losing end.
What do you think?
