Volume 14 Chapter 8: Heading Out To The Dungeon
“Don’t you think today is a great day?”
"...Keith, I know you want to ignore it, but it's impossible." Gabriel patted his shoulders, signaling him to accept his fate.
"..." Keith was motionless as his gaze was so spaced out. No one could expect Julius and the others to be here when they returned home. It was absurd, yet not at the same time. They were kings, but they had been on the island before.
Carolyn frowned, “Father, why do you keep coming here?” There was something that had to be said. Alfia was silent, but her face expressed the same question. The two royals were not alone: Tristan and Licht were there.
“Father, you know you have a kingdom to run, right?”
“Indeed, what you’re all doing is quite unbecoming of kings.”
However, Julius waved his hand, “Please, as long as your mother is at the kingdom, there’s no need for me to worry.”
“Same here!”
“…” Do you hear yourselves? There was something they were really worried about. The wives were the ones who ran a tight ship. Without them, the kingdom was doomed!
Also, aren't they going to kill you when you return home? It was a strong inkling everyone had. Skipping on their duty and handing it over to someone else? Yeah, anyone would be mad at this.
Carolyn glanced around, “Where are Uncle Edmund and King Virel?” The two were not present.
Othniel explained, “Edmund said he had other things to do, while Virel said he needed to complete some paperwork. Why can’t you three be like them?” Two perfect role models and three horrible ones.
Julius grabbed Keith by the shoulder, “What’s the matter, Uncle Julius?”
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
“Going to go take a nap.”
“You're not taking anything without making me some food!”
“…” Keith’s eyes narrowed, “Are you joking?” “No, I'm not! Make it!" "Yeah!" "Mmhmm!"
The three kings quickly shouted as they stared at him. Keith rolled his eyes as he turned to their descendants, "Go deal with that!" Why am I the one always in this situation?
"...You think we can?"
"Come on!" The kings only got closer to him.
“I think not.” Julius’s eyes widened as he turned to the door. That was when he saw Thalia, and she was not alone; Lindor was also with her!
“Why are you two here?!” The two kings were baffled by their sudden appearance.
Thalia snorted, "Do you think I wouldn't realize you would chase Keith down?" It was clear to her where he was going. And she planned to put a stop to this right now!
Thalia turned to Keith, “Sorry about this, Keith.”
“There’s no problem, Aunty.” Keith knew it wasn’t this woman’s fault. It was a certain fellow's fault!
“How could you be this wonderful? Thank goodness my Carolyn chose a wonderful man."
Thalia then noticed Eri in his arms. The queen looked back and forth between the trio before clapping her hands, "And you've already started a family!" A little family. It shocked her, but then she got excited.
Carolyn's cheeks turned pink, "Mother."
"She's such a cutie." Thalia wanted to pat Eri's head, but the fox quickly hid in Keith's shoulder.
Keith stroked her head, “There’s no need to be so afraid. She’s Carolyn’s mother.”
“Mmhmm, mhmmm.” Carolyn giggled. But that didn’t soothe Eri as she continued to hide in Keith's arms.
“Well, see y'all later!” Othniel laughed as the two kings were being dragged away. Lindor tilted his head, “Othniel, you’re not out of the hook either.”
”Eh?”
“Your wife is asking for you. From how she sounded, she was furious.”
“…Are you kidding me?” Othniel slapped his head. That snarky look he had was nowhere to be found as it became pale as a sheet! Keith shook his head as the three kings were dragged off his island. At this point, you guys are truly stupid. That was something that was not going to change.
Keith headed to the adventurers guild the next day. When he did, the adventurers greeted him.
“Boss, are you going to open the cart today?”
“It was so wonderful!”
“Mmhmm!”
The adventurers raved about the food they ate.
"Not today. I need to get more ingredients. Heading over to the quest board, it had been a while since he took a quest.
“Hmm? There’s a quest to get some lambton horns. There’s also some to get some magic stones.” Keith came to a decision as he picked out the quests and set off. While he did,
"What are you doing?" Kaiser stared at Erwin, who was about to jump out of the guild.
“Umm, going to get some fresh air.”
“Let me be clear, you’re not allowed to follow Keith.” It was obvious where he wanted to go.
Why not?!” He wanted to follow him and get some food! It was the foolproof plan, but Kaiser shrugged, “...Foolish.” He didn’t hesitate to grab him by the head and drag him back to the office! This was by far the most idiotic plan he had witnessed.
What do you think?
