A Mate For The Last Lycan

Chapter 21: YOU FORCED ME TO HURT YOU

Chapter 21: YOU FORCED ME TO HURT YOU

"Never meet with him again!" Xaden enunciated every word he said. "Never interact with him."

Zuri didn't say anything, she stared out of the window of the carriage, as they went back to Blackthorne pack. Ignored by her, Xaden felt pissed off.

"Do you hear me?"

"Loud and clear."

The carriage was spacious and they sat opposite each other, but the distance between them felt vast.

"What have you talked to him about?" Xaden asked, he was impatient. He felt this murderous intention from Khaos when he kissed Zuri in front of him. He didn't expect that.

Despite it lasting for just a few seconds and when he was done with his mate and looked at the man, there was no trace of it, he had still felt it. He knew how it felt when a predator stalked its prey.

"Nothing."

Xaden was at the end of his patience. He stretched his hand and pinched Zuri's chin, forcing her to look at him. His mate was glaring at him, she tried to swat his hand away, but he grabbed her hand and changed seats. Now, he was sitting next to her.

"You have talked with him for so long and all you can say is nothing?" he raised his brows.

Instead of being scared, Zuri chuckled. His claws grazed her skin, embedded into her wrist, but this pain was nothing. "I thought we would mind our own business?" She raised her brow. "Mind your own business, Xaden."

The alpha was not happy with that answer, he growled threateningly, yet being threatened felt like home to Zuri.

"Are you trying to start an affair with him?"

"Never said I will."

"But, you are considering it."

Zuri smirked. "Should I start it from the brothel instead?"

Xaden's brown eyes became dangerous when he let go of her chin and grabbed her neck. "Don't taunt me!"

There were a lot of words that Zuri wanted to vomit on his face, but she held her tongue back. She would only hurt herself if she taunted him more than this. She wouldn't get anything and she didn't like it when her pain brought no benefits.

His ego was already bruised because she didn't enjoy the sex part with him. He sought validation from those women in the brothel to boost his ego back.@@novelbin@@

"Understood!?"

"Yes."

Xaden glared at her, searching for any sincerity in her eyes, but her face was a mask. She showed no emotions, so in the end, he let her go.

"I didn't want to hurt you, but you pushed me to do that." He caressed her cheek and leaned over to kiss her lips, while Zuri just accepted it. "Next time, you need to know your place." He was satisfied enough to be able to subdue her. He should have done this sooner.

Once again, Zuri stared out of the window, as she remembered her conversation with Khaos. She didn't have any intention to consider it, but right now... she was contemplating it.

The rest of their journey back was quiet, Xaden didn't ask what Zuri had talked about with Khaos, probably because he didn't deem it important enough, since a woman never had anything important to discuss with or he simply didn't want to know.

Two weeks went by and there was no sign of her getting pregnant when Sera checked on her.

"I am sorry, Luna." Sera looked at her apologetically, as if it was her fault that Zuri did not get pregnant. "I will try to concoct something more potent for you."

"Thank you, Sera," Zuri said. She dismissed her and once she left, she went to the drawer and pulled out a letter. It was her father. The letter arrived a moment ago. One of the warriors of this pack had delivered it.

It was obvious that the warrior was one of her father's spies in this pack.

Zuri didn't need to open the letter to know the contents of it, still she did it anyway and was disappointed because it was very predictable. She went to the fireplace and burned it, making sure it was burned thoroughly.

Her father asked for detailed information about Xaden. It was not enough to put spies in this pack. He wanted her to dig deeper. With her status, it would be easier for her to visit certain areas in this pack house without being suspected.

However, instead of digging deeper and finding a solution to her father's demand, Zuri went to the dungeon and visited Esther and Sarah's cell.

Both of them were put in the same cell.

"Luna?" The guard was stunned to see the luna was there. "What can I help you with?"

"Show me the way to Esther and Sarah's cell."

"But, Luna..."

The look on Zuri's face must have scared him enough to follow her instruction. They had heard what happened to Faye and now they were being careful with her.

The dungeon was so dark and dirty, as if they didn't even care to clean it, adding to the element of punishment. The air was damp and moss grew on the slick stonewalls.

The young guard was leading the way and then stopped at a certain cell, where two young

girls huddled up together. They looked... disgusting to say the least.

"You can leave," Zuri said coldly, as she stared at Sarah and Esther. The young guard left there without a question.

From behind the bars, the two of them slowly lifted their heads and realized it was the luna. They immediately knelt down and begged for forgiveness.

They didn't know why the luna was here, but their punishment could be worse than this. They

were so scared.

Meanwhile, Zuri let them beg for her forgiveness and waited until they finally stopped and

simply stared at her, confused.

"Lu- luna..." Esther called her.

"I am sorry, Luna. We are really sorry..."

Only then, Zuri took a step closer toward the bars and smiled sweetly at them.
