A Mate For The Last Lycan

Chapter 22: A GIFT FROM THE ALPHA

Chapter 22: A GIFT FROM THE ALPHA

They were confused, not understanding why the luna offered such a thing. It rendered them speechless, thinking this sick, dirty place had caused them to mishear what their luna said. Probably, the luna told them that they would be executed or their hands would be cut off just like what happened to Faye.

Seeing their confusion, Zuri was actually very patient when she repeated what she said again.

"You can choose to stay here or work with me, but this time, I want your complete loyalty. I want your complete submission. You will not accept any order except from me. Can you do that? Or..." Zuri waved her hand, gesturing to the dirty dungeon. "You can stay here for the rest of your lives. I can see you are getting comfortable now."

Obviously, not at all. No sane person would choose this place.

Esther and Sarah immediately crawled toward the bars, they cried their hearts out, desperate to grab this opportunity.

If there was a way to leave this wretched place, obviously, they would choose it without a second thought. They didn't want to stay a second longer here.

"Yes, Luna. I'll pledge my loyalty to you..."

"I will be loyal to you... I will never betray you!"

Tears, snot and dirt covered their faces, as they lowered their heads in front of Zuri, begging for a second chance.

Meanwhile, Zuri waited for them to calm down, before she relayed her last words. "Betray me once and this place will feel like heaven to you."

They stopped crying, shuddered at the words that Zuri said, especially when they saw her black eyes that were filled with malice.

"Yes, Luna... we will... we will serve you with all of our hearts."

"Good." Zuri smirked, she was satisfied.

She wanted to have her own people, and these two maids fit her criteria. After all, the people that her father planted here were not hers and she couldn't have anyone come from her pack either, because obviously, their loyalty was to her father.

But, Sarah and Esther were different.

Their situation was no different from being dead and Zuri came to save them. Their gratitude toward her would be the first seed for their loyalty to her.

Zuri waited this long, so they would be desperate and broken enough, thinking there was no hope left and now she was their savior.

On the other note, she was fully aware that she could be mistaken, but she was willing to bet on it.

"You released the two of them," it was the first thing Xaden said when he approached Zuri, who was sitting in the garden, sipping her tea. "Why?" His eyes fell on Sarah and Esther, who were standing not too far from them, but they moved a little bit further, out of earshot, to give the two of them a semblance of privacy.

"Because I need personal maids."

"You can find other people."

"I want them," Zuri replied simply. From the corner of her eyes, she could see this annoyed him.

These two maids were the people who helped Faye harm their unborn baby, but Zuri stupidly took them back.

However, before Xaden could argue, a guard approached Zuri and informed her that someone had sent a gift to her.

"A gift?" Zuri furrowed her brows. She wasn't expecting any gift from anyone.

"Who has sent that?" Xaden was curious. "Bring it here."

The guard gestured for the other guard to bring the gift. "It's from Alpha Khaos."

Zuri and Xander were surprised. They saw a little white wolf, about the size of a palm, curling itself on a cozy cushion, while a warrior carried it.

Obviously, the warriors came from Khaos' pack.@@novelbin@@

Just like Xaden, Khaos was given territory, a pack for him to manage. The Gray Wolf pack. The pack was given to him three years ago, a year before he committed the crime against the River Creek pack.

Khaos' warrior introduced himself as Gayle, he put the cub on the table, along with the cushion. The little wolf lifted its head and yawned. It looked adorable.

"What is the meaning of this?!" Xaden stood up, he was barely able to contain his anger.

"Alpha Xaden, our alpha only extended his courtesy and because Luna Zuri said she liked the white wolf, our alpha gifted one to her, since our wolf just gave birth to three cubs."

Meanwhile, Zuri didn't care about Gayle's explanation or Xaden's wrath, she was enticed by the white wolf and then carried it in her arms, as if she would hold a baby.

"Send my gratitude to Alpha Khaos," Zuri said. "I like the gift."

"Actually, Alpha Khaos invites the Alpha and Luna from Blackthorne to come to his welcoming party, since the Alpha has just returned from his duty."

"You meant punishment?" Xaden taunted, but Zuri was busy with her little cub.

"Actually, our alpha quite enjoyed life in the Three Deadly Ways. He managed to strengthen our fortress there." Gayle was unaffected, he even smiled politely.

Their exchange didn't go unnoticed by Zuri and from the looks of it, Khaos had capable people around him.

After Gayle handed over the invitation, he left. He came with two other warriors, but he was

the one who did all the talking.

"We will not go."

"If you don't want to go, it's fine. I will go." Zuri stood up, she gestured for Sarah to take

away her cub.

"If I'm not going, you will not be either!" Xaden emphasized every word he said.

"What is it? Are you trying to restrict me?" Zuri crossed her arms in front of her chest and lifted her chin. "I thought our deal was very clear. We will mind our own business."

Xaden was furious, he took a step closer. "You will not get involved with another man and cause confusion if you fall pregnant. I want to be sure you are carrying mine when you conceive." The indication of what he said was very clear. "Are you pregnant yet?" He glanced at her flat stomach.
