Chapter 1255: Invisible Hands

Chapter 1255: Invisible Hands

"That's right. Fellow Daoist Chi Meng and I spotted these Reincarnation Palace cultivators infiltrating the Nine Origins Temple earlier, and we knew they were up to no good, so followed them all the way here to try and uncover their objectives," Huo Yuan chimed in in support of Chi Meng.

Daoist Master Chun Jun naturally didn't believe them at all, but he didn't expose them.

Both Chi Meng and Huo Yuan were all but untouchable. Not only was Chi Meng a very important figure in the Heavenly Court herself, she also had Dao Ancestor Chi Rong as a backer, so even if she had admitted that she was also up to no good herself, Daoist Master Chun Jun wouldn't have dared to do anything to her anyway.

As for Huo Yuan, he was the master of the Hundred Creations Mountain, which may not have had a Dao Ancestor at the helm, but it had very close ties with the Heavenly Court. Over the years, anyone that had dared to make a move against the Hundred Creations Mountain had suffered very tragic fates, and at this point, it was common knowledge that the Hundred Creations Mountain was a subsidiary power to the Heavenly Court.

Given how delicate the situation was, Daoist Master Chun Jun knew that he had to proceed with caution. If he were to back these two into a corner and force them to join forces with the Reincarnation Palace, then the situation would take a drastic turn for the worse.

With that in mind, Daoist Master Chun Jun said, "Alright, in that case, please stand by and wait for now, and we'll let you go as soon as we've eradicated these Reincarnation Palace scoundrels."

Chi Meng and Huo Yuan were quite relieved to hear this, and they drifted over to a corner of the palace.

For all their status, they were still in the Nine Origins Temple at the moment, so if Daoist Master Chun Jun decided to take them down irrespective of consequences, then they would still be at his mercy.

"Mountain Master Huo Yuan, is that vial the item that was refined by the previous mountain master?" Chi Meng asked through voice transmission.

Now that the battle had temporarily died down, the animosity between them had also faded away.

"What our previous mountain master had refined was indeed a vial, but in the wake of the further refinement carried out by the Nine Origins Temple, it looks completely different from what it once did, so I was barely able to identify it," Huo Yuan replied.

"What do you think the Nine Origins Temple's intentions are for this treasure?" Chi Meng asked.

"Who knows what those sly old foxes are planning? Only by personally examining the vial will I be able to get an idea of what the Nine Origins Temple is plotting," Huo Yuan replied.

Chi Meng cast a contemplative gaze toward the Reincarnation Palace cultivators upon hearing this.

Meanwhile, Han Li's mind was racing as he tried to think of a way out of this dire situation.

He would definitely be able to save himself through transmigration, but for some reason, Nangong Wan had completely forgotten about him and was currently rather wary of him, so she most likely wouldn't be willing to go with him.

On top of that, Wu Yang, Wyrm 3 and the others clearly weren't going to allow him to abduct her, either.

With that in mind, Han Li cast his gaze toward Wu Yang, only to discover that the latter seemed to have been engaged in a conversation via voice transmission with Wyrm 3 and the others.

Han Li couldn't help but be annoyed to see this.

He was a member of the Reincarnation Palace, yet he was being blatantly excluded from the conversation, so they had clearly never truly regarded him as an ally.

Then again, he couldn't really complain, considering he had never truly considered them to be trusted allies, either, so the distrust went both ways.

The more he thought about it, the more he felt like ever since he joined the Blaze Dragon Dao, it seemed as if a pair of invisible hands had been molding his fate, pushing him in whichever direction they pleased.

This feeling had become even stronger after seeing Nangong Wan, and he felt like this was something that was worth looking into.

He was not someone who liked to be controlled, and he wanted to have a firm grasp on his own fate.

Daoist Master Chun Jun cast his gaze toward Wu Yang and the others, but before he had a chance to say anything, all of the Reincarnation Palace cultivators suddenly sprang into action at once.

Shi Kongmo and Lu Chuanfeng transformed into two streaks of light, one black and one blue, as they pounced at Daoist Master Chun Jun's trio, and Shi Kongmo flicked his fingers through the air in rapid succession to send dozens of black sword projections hurtling toward the trio.

Each sword projection was riddled with black, devilish eyes that were glowing with black light, presenting a very unsettling sight to behold.

Even as the dozens of sword projections were racing through the air, they produced no sound at all, and it was as if they possessed no substantial form.

Simultaneously, Lu Chuanfeng opened his mouth to release a ball of blue light while making a rapid string of hand seals, and a string of incantation seals flew out of his hands before vanishing into the ball of blue light.

The ball of light instantly exploded, forming countless thin needles of blue ice, and they shot forth through the air at his behest, raining down upon Daoist Master Chun Jun's trio in a torrential barrage.

Daoist Master Chun Jun remained completely unfazed by their attacks as he gave a cold sneer before raising both hands, and two bursts of golden light flew out of the palms of his hands before striking the palace walls on either side of him.

At the same time, rays of golden light also surged out of the tablets in the hands of Yang Junzi and Daoist Master Lei Jun before also fusing into the surrounding walls.

The layer of golden light within the palace instantly began to ripple violently, releasing waves of obstructive golden light that swept toward Shi Kongmo and Lu Chuanfeng.

The barrage of ice needles unleashed by Lu Chuanfeng instantly vanished into thin air upon striking the waves of golden light, while Shi Kongmo's black sword projections were able to pierce through several layers of golden light in succession, but were quickly fading away in the process.

A surprised look appeared on Shi Kongmo's face upon seeing this, and he switched to a different hand seal, upon which the black sword projections transformed into thin, black threads that were able to pierce through the layers of golden light more efficiently en route to Daoist Master Chun Jun.

These black threads were also fading as they flew through the air, but at a far slower rate than the sword projections, and they reached Daoist Master Chun Jun's trio in the blink of an eye.

The three of them hurriedly sprang back in retreat, while Lu Chuanfeng swept both sleeves through the air to release huge chunks of blue ice the size of houses, all of which converged toward the trio like a barrage of meteorites.

It seemed that the golden light was far less efficient when it came devouring the spiritual power within substantial objects, and huge holes were blown into them by the chunks of blue ice, preventing them from closing in on Shi Kongmo and Lu Chuanfeng.

Meanwhile, Wyrm 3, Wu Yang, and Rushuang had turned and rushed away in another direction, and at the same time, Wyrm 3's voice rang out in Han Li's mind.

"Fellow Daoist Han, I have a way to get us out of here, so please lend me your help!"

Han Li immediately followed along upon hearing this, and together, they descended in front of one of the walls of the palace.

Yang Junzi's expression changed slightly upon seeing this, and he pointed a finger at the wall in question from afar.

The golden light on the wall instantly brightened significantly, and countless giant, golden feelers erupted out of the wall before sweeping toward Han Li and the others.

"We need to buy some time for Jiuzhen!" Wu Yang yelled as he made a grabbing motion, and a giant, golden sword that was radiating dazzling, golden light appeared in his grasp.

With the swing of the golden sword, a streak of golden sword qi that was over a thousand feet was unleashed, striking around a dozen of the feelers at once.

Most of the feelers were instantly severed, but the streak of sword qi had also become far smaller and dimmer than before.

At the same time, the remaining, unsevered feelers quickly wrapped themselves around the streak of sword qi like a nest of spirit snakes, but the streak of sword qi was also like a living creature, darting around like a fish that had been caught in a net.

These feelers were extremely resilient, and they were also rapidly devouring the spiritual power imbued within the streak of sword qi.

As a result, the streak of golden sword qi rapidly shrank down before being completely fused into the golden feelers altogether.

"These feelers can devour immortal spiritual power and law powers, so be on your guards!" Wu Yang cautioned loudly as he swung his sword at another cluster of feelers.

Rushuang had also sprung into action, drawing a serpentine saber in the place of her broken mirror, and she slashed the saber through the air several times in succession, unleashing a barrage of dark red saber projections that instantly severed seven or eight feelers.

However, these golden feelers really did seem to be capable of devouring all things, and even these saber projections that were imbued with reincarnation law powers were no exception.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Han Li raised his hands, and numerous profound acupoints lit up over his arms, causing them to swell drastically, while his fingers also elongated and thickened significantly.

He then flicked his fingers through the air in rapid succession, unleashing a barrage of blades of air that struck the remaining golden feelers, and they were torn apart without being able to pose any resistance.
