Chapter 15: Chapter 15: Look How Loud You’re Screaming

Han Ningzhen pushed him away, “It’s okay.”

Qi Anran was not convinced, “Just okay? Did you not hear how loud you were just now?”

Han Ningzhen snorted coldly, wasn’t she just playing along with him?

The move he had just used, she had already experienced with her ex-boyfriends, and she had eight exes.

Qi Anran, coming from a small place, was fundamentally conservative; no matter what tricks he tried, he couldn’t truly impress.

She sat up against the headboard, reached into the bedside table, and pulled out a pack of cigarettes. Just as she was about to light one, she turned to see Qi Anran’s unhappy face and put the cigarette down.

These days, a woman smoking wasn’t a big deal, but Qi Anran couldn’t accept it. @@novelbin@@

She picked up her phone to check her messages, and upon seeing a message from Li Pingping, her heart skipped a beat.

Now feeling upset, Han Ningzhen didn’t care whether Qi Anran was happy or not. She threw the phone in front of him and lit up a cigarette.

“What’s wrong now?” Qi Anran asked.

“See for yourself, Su Meixi bought a car.”

Qi Anran picked up the phone and glanced at the car, saying, “It’s not even registered yet, could it be borrowed?”

Han Ningzhen gave him a disdainful look as he was still deceiving himself.

Qi Anran, still not convinced, said, “No, this is Su Meixi’s boyfriend’s car, what does it have to do with us? We have a car too, a BMW X5 at that.”

Han Ningzhen said, “I don’t know why, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable.”

Qi Anran hugged her tighter and rested his head on her neck, “Baby, are you worried I’m not ambitious enough? Don’t worry, I’ll be furthering my studies soon, and once I get promoted, not to mention a Land Rover, even switching to a Maserati would be possible.”

Han Ningzhen smiled, put out her cigarette, and added, “Then you better step it up, or else I might leave anytime.”

Gu Wei parked the Land Rover in the underground parking of the apartment complex.

He turned to look at Su Meixi beside him.

Her mood still seemed low, and she was tired, her head resting on the seat, long eyelashes drooping, and lips moving slightly, lost in thought.

“Ah Xi, we’re here,” Gu Wei reminded her.

Su Meixi collected herself.

It had to be said, the car was really comfortable—the seats soft, a pleasant leather scent in the air, and Gu Wei drove very steadily; she had fallen asleep just before.

“Oh, we’re here already,” she said blankly and wiped the corner of her mouth.

That dazed and adorable look made Gu Wei’s heart flutter.

He had never wanted to protect someone so much as he did at that moment.

“Ah Xi, this is our parking spot. Remember it.”

“Oh, you bought a parking spot too?”

“It came with the apartment,” Gu Wei hesitated to mention money again.

She was already giving him 200,000; bringing up money again would just add to her psychological burden.

“You drive this car to work tomorrow,” Gu Wei suggested.

Su Meixi glanced at the car, so tall and big, she was scared to drive it.

If possible, she would rather buy a small and cute Wuling Hongguang which would be easier to handle.

“I haven’t driven since I got my driver’s license,” Su Meixi said awkwardly.

“No problem, when you have time, I’ll take you for a few drives to practice.”

“Okay,” Su Meixi smiled at him.

It was just a polite smile, but Gu Wei felt as if flowers were blooming in his heart.

Back home, Su Meixi changed her shoes at the entrance.

While doing so, she watched Gu Wei’s broad shoulders and recalled what Gu Cheng mentioned about Gu Wei’s insomnia.

It was only after physical contact with her that different hormones would be produced in his body.

They hadn’t had any contact today; would he be unable to sleep tonight?

Perhaps a goodnight hug?

She was too shy to initiate.

After thinking it over, she said, “Gu Wei, why don’t you teach me some more self-defense tonight?”

Gu Wei paused, “So late and still practice?”

“Ah, I need to reinforce the impression; otherwise, I fear that I might forget over time.”

“Okay.” Gu Wei admired such strong-willed and resilient individuals.

If this were in the military, he wouldn’t mind giving them special training.

The two changed clothes and returned to the small room.

For now, close combat didn’t necessitate physical contact; Gu Wei just needed to demonstrate, and Su Meixi would follow.

Unfortunately, her comprehension skills were sharp, often grasping the moves after a single demonstration.

So despite her exhaustion, there was no chance for physical contact.

Wiping sweat from her brow, she made a second request. “Gu Wei, can we review the self-defense techniques you taught me last time?”

“Sure!” Gu Wei readily agreed.

This time, there was substantially more physical contact.

She deliberately pressed against him several times, seizing the opportunity to touch him.

Gu Wei felt it too.

The heart of a woman is not only like a needle in the ocean but also like the weather in June: unpredictable, swiftly shifting from overcast to sunny.

During a demonstration of a scenario where a thug tackles her to the ground, Su Meixi somehow did not struggle, and Gu Wei, perhaps using a bit too much force without intending, suddenly toppled onto her.

Now, the two were completely pressed against each other!

Gu Wei looked down at her.

She gazed back at him, stunned.

In that moment, an ambiguous tension, just like the heat radiating from their bodies, simmered between them.

Gu Wei felt the softness beneath him; her face, flushed from the exertion, her large, dewy eyes, her small and perky nose, and lips slightly parted—tempting him irresistibly.

Su Meixi, too, sensed his change.

She thought, surely after this, he’d have a good night’s sleep tonight, right?

“Gu Wei.” She was the first to speak.

“What is it?”

“You’re so heavy.”

Gu Wei: “…”

He shifted his body off her.

Su Meixi quickly got up, saying, “Let’s stop here for today; I’m tired and want to go to sleep.”

“Alright.” Gu Wei wouldn’t make it difficult for her.

Su Meixi left without hesitation, while Gu Wei stayed in the small room a bit longer.

His phone screen lit up; he picked it up and saw a message from Gu Cheng, “How was your day? Did you and Ah Xi get along well?”

Gu Wei replied, “A woman’s heart is hard to understand.”

Gu Cheng responded, “Women sometimes need to be given space; don’t cling to them too much, or they’ll find you annoying.”

Gu Wei seemed to realize something.

The next day,

Su Meixi got up slightly late.

Her body ached from practicing combat and self-defense the night before.

She hurriedly got ready, expecting to eat the breakfast Gu Wei usually bought.

However, there was no breakfast outside, and Gu Wei’s room door was tightly closed, suggesting he hadn’t awakened yet.

“Ha! See, he usually buys breakfast because he hasn’t slept well.

After last night, he must have slept well, hence no breakfast bought.”

She quickly left the house, still riding her own electric scooter.

The Land Rover was too bold for her; she dared not take it on the road.

That morning, Mr. Wang had already notified the group early that there would be a department dinner party in the evening, and family members were invited.

While in the treatment room,
