Accumulation To Kill

A Thrilling Slaughter

A beast lay under a lampost, its jaw constantly at work chewing on what seemed to be a human skull, acting as if it were a chew toy.

Amidst its meal, the beast felt its danger sense go wild; stunned, it rose to its five hideous legs, looking out into the world with its cyclops-like eye.

"Too late" a voice spread in the night, carrying with it an intent to kill.

The beast, horrified by the feeling of being someone's prey, put strength into its front legs, leaping backward, only to fall to the ground.

Looking down at its now severed limbs, it wept, lying in a pool of blood.

"Severing Wind" the same voice was heard, this time carrying a trace of disgust.

With that, the ear-piercing cries of the beast were forever made silent.

A man stepped into the light from the lampost, his blue eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

"Abomination, destroyed." Lucas laughed as he crushed the beast's ugly eye under his foot.

Forming another 'Severing Wind,' he cut into the beast's chest, extracting a pearly core from its heart. However, his gaze seemed to shift elsewhere in frustration

[Slaughter Points: 0.9]

0.9 Slaughter Points, he had killed three Low Tier 1 abominations, gaining a measly 0.1 Slaughter Point per kill.

Keep in mind that abominations were divided into 9 Tiers, with each tier ranging from Low, High, and Peak.

If a low tier 1 Abomination yielded 0.1 Points, and he needed at least 1 point to upgrade anything, it would mean 10 abominations mean one increase in his stats, assuming the required points wouldn't increase as it did with Severing Wind.

But that seems highly unlikely; a Tier 9 Archmage could annihilate a million Low Tier 1 Abominations. Would that mean the further he grew, the quicker he progressed? No! That would go against the natural order, although this Panel is already diverging from it.

Nonetheless, he wouldn't and couldn't complain; his primary goal was to kill as many of these abominations as possible anyway.

"Time to move forward; there are still 3 hours till sunrise," Lucas resolved himself, glancing at the three shiny cores in his pocket.

'I still need to pay her back' Sylvia's great expense for his sack remained at the forefront of his thoughts.

Time waited for no one, and soon, Luca had reached a run-down apartment complex. His eyes darted near the penthouse at the top, a droplet of blood occasionally dripping down from its balcony.

Without missing a beat, he pushed away any irrelevant thoughts and focused his mind on the situation.

Stealthy climbing the steps, he tried to amplify his hearing with mana; a slight success led to him hearing the steps of two-no 4.

'With my current strength, at most, I can take out two of them before I get surrounded. Though if I kill one, then retreat I could invest a point into mana density and take care of them.' He thought, trying his best to formulate a plan

'No, I'd lose the element of surprise, might get chased if one of them is a speed-focused one.' He quickly threw out his previous plane, instead adopting a somewhat riskier approach.

Kill two, invest a point right in that moment, and hopefully kill the other two.

Right, now that he had a plan, he had to execute it.

As he approached the top-most floor, he heightened his senses to their peak, focusing his vision to react to any movement.

Creeping near the staircase, he saw them, three abominations, each feasting on a fleshy body.

Abominations were divided into different species, mainly strength types, speed types, stealth types, and the most dangerous regeneration types.

Two of these abominations were strength types, recognizable by their bulky limbs. Speed types typically had no arms. Instead of multiple legs, this one, in particular, had 4.

The previous abomination he killed was also a speed type; as long as they didn't have a chance to move, they were easily killed

'the 4th one is probably a stealth one, troublesome. First, the speed one, invest the point, and then the two strength ones. Retreat, then try and sweep the area for the stealth one.'

Taking a deep breath, he moved.

Accelerating on the stairs, he reached the top in one leap, raised his hand, and chanted "Severing Wind."

At the same time, the beasts reacted, annoyed that their meal was interrupted, they jumped at him, only the speed-type abomination unable to as the Severing Wind had already cut its life short; its chest cut through and through.

Luca took a step back, activating the panel in a hurried state and clicking the upgrade button

[Mana Density: 3].

Lucas smirked, his plan was foolproof and now he would reap the rewards. Or so he thought.

Looking back at the balcony, a third abomination appeared, its body cloaked in the night, barely visible.

Time stopped, his blood grew cold and his mind raced. At most, he could release two spells before the abominations reached him, after which, he'd be dead.

He looked for a way out, and soon he found one. Looking to the sides of the stairs, he saw two marble pillars holding up the roof.

His spell should be able to cut through the pillars; adding on the increased mana density, he'll be able to destabilize the walls. Crush them in.

It was, however, still a gamble, one second too slow, and he'd be buried under the rubble as well.

Death or a slim chance of survival was an obvious choice. Pushing out both his hands, he aimed at the pillars and squeezed out his now stronger mana.

"Severing Wind"

BOOM

The sound of collapse rang out, the roof coming down on the abominations, almost catching Luca as well just as he barely jumped back into the stairwell.

With no time to spare, he sprinted down the building which seemed to have entered a state of continuous collapse, the many stories falling down onto one another.

He had underestimated his strength, looks like more than just a little bit of destabilizing happened.

He reached the bottom floor, darting out of the complex and falling to the ground, exhausted.

A mage has a weak physical body until they reach Tier 3, also known as Consuming Mage.

Nonetheless, his exhaustion was greatly lifted when he saw the results of his quick thinking.

[Slaughter Points: 0.3]

0.3 Slaughter Points, not much, but it proved excellent considering he hadn't personally killed the Abominations, increasing his knowledge abou

t the panel and its methods.

All in all, it was a Thrilling Slaughter, his first and most definitely not his last.
