High Tier 1 Abomination
The thrill of his near-death experience still flowing through him, Luca got up on his feet.
"3 Severing Winds, each takes two mana, I still have 7 left. Add on the hourly recovery of 2 and I should be alright to keep going." Luca thought aloud
However, he had to be more careful from here on out; the further into the city he went, the more common abominations would be and the stronger they'd become.
'2 hours left' Luca thought, counting down the time before he had to return as all Trainee Mages had to report to the camp in the morning.
Near the city center, there were many Tier 3 Abominations, ready to feast on any unlucky enough to stumble into their territories.
Knowing this, Luca remained near the peripheral area, where Tier 1's ruled.
Naturally, in 2 hours he stumbled upon a good portion of abominations, having to dodge some who were either out of his leagues or grouped up with others.
In the end, he killed two more abominations, earning him two cores and 0.2 Slaughter Points.
'Good harvest' He thought, a total sum of 9 cores over one night's work, surpassing what he usually earned in a month or two.
Looking at the glint of light that marked the coming of dawn, he decided to turn around. Ready to start his journey back.
Walking through the city he reminisced about his childhood, life before The Fall, that fateful day 10 years ago.
A peaceful world went dark, all because of some disgusting beasts that invaded their planet from some unknown home world.
Even today, the beasts on Earth only increased, and with limited manpower, only a few major cities remained, all of which had strict requirements for their inhabitants, leaving the poor and weak to rot or group up together, like one of the camps he was at.
Time moved forward, and just as Lucas was rethinking his goals and ambitions, he was brought back to the reality of this cruel world.
Out of the shadows of a nearby building, a swift shadow flicked past him, aiming to cut him in half.
He barely took a step to dodge when a claw stuck into his forearm, taking with it a good chunk of his flesh.
The pain was killing him as he watched his arm spew out a small fountain of blood and flesh. Still, the touch of death had heightened his senses to their peak
His eyes flashed with rage, his left arm rising and aiming at the shadow in front of him, "Severing Wind!" he screamed.
The blade moved fast, too fast for the beast to dodge but too slow for it to be helpless. Similar to Luca, it prevented its major organs from being hit in exchange for its right arm being cut off.
Without missing a beat, he used "Severing Wind" once again in hopes of ending the fight before his wound worsened.
But to his dismay, the beast had already grown vigilant and moved away, causing the spell to miss its target.
His mana was close to finished, only enough for one last spell, it had to count.
While the beast went into temporary retreat, Lucas ripped off his robe, wrapping it around his arm tight to try and prevent more blood loss.
Just as he tied a knot, the beast came launching at him for another attack, this time aiming to pierce his chest.
No time to think he made a desperate attempt to dodge the fatal attack, rolling towards the beast but slightly to the left just in the nick of time
The beast changed its attack in response; from a piercing blow, it readied itself for a brutal claw attack.
Arriving over Lucas, it pierced its claw into his back, causing more blood to fall.
But at this moment, Luca couldn't be more glad, a chance. The beast may be over him, but it was under him, with its belly right in his attack range.
In his bloodshot eyes, one could no longer see any terror, only killing intent.
"Severing Wind," he said, as he brought his palm closer to the beast.
WOOSH
The spell shot straight into and through the beast, cutting its nimble body into two.
Its body fell limp over Luca, burying him under itself and the mess of its organs that leaked out.
Mustering the final ounce of strength he had left in his body, he pushed the beast off of himself, looking into that familiar sky.
"Wasted the only chance I had" he mocked himself, feeling his control over his body decrease as his consciousness became unclear because of blood loss.
'Please, help me. One last time.' He thought, unbeknownst to him, his wish would be granted but at a cost.

"Mom, I don't wanna go to school! It's so boring; please, please, could I skip it? Just for today!" A young boy asked as he looked at his mother
"No Luca, you know your grades have already been getting worse. You need to focus more on school and less on those video games of yours." Lumine said, looking at her son helplessly.
"But, moooom" Lucas' eyes gained a tinge of cuteness, trying to convince his mother otherwise.
"Nope, not gonna work this time. Get up already" Lumine put her foot down
Lucas begrudgingly got up from his head and ran to the bathroom, leaving Lumine in his room.
"What am I gonna do with that boy, why can't he be more like Lucy." She rolled her eyes at Lucas' antics, looking out the window
'Huh?'
Why did the sky seem so dark today? Was it supposed to rain?
Soon, she would be answered, albeit in a way she never would have imagined.
The dark sky, instead of bursting with rain and thunder, transformed, its color changing into a misty purple, the clouds parting to reveal a crescent blue moon, shining its light on the world.
Time stopped, as the world collectively looked into the changing sky, lost for words. Suddenly, everyone was broken out of their stupor by an earthquake, a devasting world-shattering earthquake.
In a matter of seconds, buildings collapsed and cities were destroyed. The planet seemed to split apart, near the Equator, revealing a horrific darkness within the Earth.
From within this darkness, creatures arose, they entered the streets of man, making quick work of the already panicked individuals.
The first day of the abominations massacre, the first day of The Fallen World.
What do you think?
