Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Let’s Split Up
She too felt envious.
Not having new clothes for herself and her man was bearable, but her daughters had never worn new clothes from birth to growing up, always picking up what others had left behind.
But who could blame them for not having the capability!
Sun Lixia rolled her eyes, utterly dismissive of Zhao Xiaojuan, who couldn’t bear a son, and furiously slammed down her chopsticks, “Eldest sister-in-law is still speaking for Eldest. They are eating our public grain. They sneaked off to hunt game in the afternoon, now you guys fill in the deducted work points!”
Zhao Xiaojuan’s mouth twitched, wanting to say that there’s no need to quibble since they were all one family. However, thinking about her own four daughters still needing support, she ended up keeping silent.
Sun Lixia relentlessly poked at her sore spot, “Eldest sister-in-law, you don’t have a son, you don’t know how hard it is to raise a son. There’s a saying, ‘a teenage boy can eat his poor dad out of house and home,’ having more sons is a blessing but also a burden.”
Though she verbalized her hardships, her tone and expression were extremely smug.
At those words, Zhao Xiaojuan’s face instantly turned pale; not being able to bear a son for the Old Jiang Family was her only lifelong guilt and unease,
The old lady’s face however, turned much darker. One after another, they were all so annoying!
Just as Sun Lixia was about to open her mouth to continue her sarcastic remarks, Jiang Dashan frowned and said sternly, “If you’re not going to eat, go back to your room. Can’t even eat a meal in peace.” @@novelbin@@
No one dared fool around in front of the patriarch. Sun Lixia obediently shut her mouth, but she was still feeling indignant.
“I don’t even know what likedable traits that lazy, slippery scoundrel of Eldest has?!”
Back in her room, she started complaining again, “This life is unbearable! Now even Eldest sister-in-law dares to defy me. Just because San Ya goes to school and is promising, she thinks her own daughters can be successful too. Pfft, what a daydream!”
Jiang Changtao sat at the doorway smoking, not showing whether he was listening or not,
But Sun Lixia kept ramping up her anger, “I think the old couple is starting to favor the main house now. Usually doing no chores, all the work is done by us, yet, they manage to win the old lady’s favor just by rattling their mouths. Now even the old man has started to be biased!”
She rolled her eyes and muttered a few curses, then suddenly had a bright idea, “Why don’t we split the family? Neither the main house nor the second house have sons, parents would definitely stay with us. The four of us can work the fields, we would earn a full share, and then the kids could even eat eggs every day.”
The sky had completely darkened.
Jiang Changtao narrowed his eyes, his expression indecipherable. He had long thought about splitting the family; he would have done it a long time ago if it were possible!
“Parents will follow us, and we will care for them until their end of days. Then, everything will be ours at the end,” Sun Lixia quietly calculated aloud, “if we wait for when dad and mom can no longer work to split, I will be at a huge loss!”
“Forget it! Parents will definitely not agree.”
Jiang Changtao tapped his old tobacco pipe against the doorframe, his expression gloomy, “And you know the nature of my grandparents. This house was built with half of their money at that time.”
When Sun Lixia had married into the family, the grandparents were already gone.
But she had heard that the old couple had a special preference for Eldest, explicitly stating before they died that half of the house was to be left to the eldest grandson.
If they were to split the family, they could only divide the half that belonged to her father-in-law and mother-in-law, most likely not even keeping the room they lived in.
The only option would be to go out and build a house with their own money, but who has spare money nowadays?
What do you think?
