Chapter 75: Coming Back with Two Duck Eggs
Chapter 75: Chapter 75: Coming Back with Two Duck Eggs
Jiang Mianmian listened to her grandma’s words, shook her head helplessly.
Indeed, only the top students who could make money and boys with influence deserved her grandma’s favor.
Jiang Changhai was sleeping in the room. Hearing someone enter, he opened his eyes and saw his fair-skinned daughter sighing like a little adult.
He immediately asked with a smile, “What’s wrong, daughter? Did someone bully you?”
“It’s nothing.”
Jiang Mianmian waved her hand dismissively, “It’s just that grandma asked me how I did on the test today. I was modest, and both she and my aunt thought I didn’t perform well.”
She didn’t care, but Jiang Changhai jumped up promptly from bed, “I’ll go and give them a piece of my mind!”
His mom and his three younger siblings must have said something nasty!
Jiang Mianmian quickly grabbed her dad’s hand, “Dad, where are you going?” @@novelbin@@
“I’m going to find your grandma and your aunt. How can they bully my daughter?” said Jiang Changhai, filled with indignation.
A few scolds from his mom could be ignored, but what right did Sun Lixia have?!
“Dad, don’t go, I wasn’t bullied. Besides, let’s wait until the results tomorrow so we can speak with the facts,” Jiang Mianmian reasoned earnestly.
Listening to her crisp and cute voice, Jiang Changhai immediately laughed, “Oh, my daughter is really impressive, even knowing how to talk with facts. Dad believes in you, you’ll surely come first.”
Sun Lixia, eavesdropping from outside, curled her lips in disdain, silently praying that Jiang Mianmian did poorly.
It would be best if she came back with a couple of zeroes and see how the main room’s family will continue their freeloading!
The next afternoon, Zhang Guihua, who always strived to be a role model worker, kept looking up at the sun. It wasn’t even four o’clock yet when she urged Jiang Changhai, who was dallying: “Changhai, stop pretending to work and hurry up to school to pick up San Ya.”
Jiang Changhai, seeing an opportunity to laze about legitimately, immediately put down his tools and flashed Zhang Guihua a brilliant smile, “Alright, Mom, I’m on it. Go home early and cook a few more dishes to welcome our family’s hero.”
“Cook a few more dishes? How about I make bamboo shoots and pork for you—is that okay? If San Ya doesn’t come first, see if I don’t break your legs,” Zhang Guihua shouted at her son’s retreating back.
Jiang Changhai ignored Zhang Guihua’s threats. She had been threatening to break his legs for many years but had never actually done it.
However, if he really did have his legs broken, he would no longer have to work in the fields, and his parents would have to take care of him.
Alas, why couldn’t his mom figure out this equation? Jiang Changhai shook his head, complaining inwardly.
Jiang Mianmian bounced out holding her papers, her excitement contrasting starkly with the dejected students around her clutching their papers.
Jiang Changhai spotted his daughter in the crowd almost immediately.
“Daughter, Dad’s here,” Jiang Changhai stood next to Old Man Deng, calling out to Jiang Mianmian.
Jiang Mianmian walked over, politely greeting, “Hello, Uncle.”
Old Man Zheng smiled and nodded in approval, “Ah, good, good, Mianmian is getting prettier.”
Hearing someone compliment her looks, Jiang Mianmian’s eyes crinkled with a smile.
Jiang Changhai deliberately asked in front of Old Man Zheng, “Mianmian, are the exam results out?”
Jiang Mianmian handed the papers to him, “They’re out, Dad, I got a perfect score.”
Jiang Changhai took the papers, looking at all the check marks, and the bright red hundred percent at the top of the page.
What do you think?
