After Stealing Hero's Mother, I Reincarnated in the Fantasy World!

Chapter 107 Set of cakes

Once Rain had decided who he wanted to visit, he got up from the table and headed to a special place in this Manor – the main kitchen.

It didn't take him long to get there.

As soon as he entered the kitchen, everything in it froze and all eyes were fixed on him. The silence lasted until one of the maids asked with awkwardness in her voice.

"Have you come for the cakes again, Young Master Rain?"

"Yes."

Replied Rain, watching as the chefs packed two finished sets of cakes.

When he came last time, they said they were Celestia's favorite cakes, so his choice was on them.

Rain himself didn't often eat pastries, as they were too sugar for his taste, and he preferred sour flavors more. But the person he was going to talk to would definitely appreciate it.

When everything was ready, one of the maids awkwardly handed him two sets of cakes.

Smiling at her, Rain took them and walked out, leaving the girl frozen in place.

A group of maids, side by side with the cooks, looked after him and began to discuss quietly.

"When did the Young Master start eating so many sweets?"

"He asked me for it last time too... Maybe he wants to celebrate his tournament win?"

"But he'd never eaten anything like it."

"Ah! I get it! His fiancée! He's definitely doing it for her!"

As if the riddle had been solved, one of them whispered in a solemn tone.

"Remember, he used to do something like that once before, too. You know, before... before he got depressed about her."

"No wonder. She was always so cold to him, despite everything he did for her..."

"Maybe it's just her way of expressing her love? And maybe things are already working out for them?"

Rain's hearing picked up their distant whispers even as he walked down the hallway. His eyes flashed with a cold glint when he thought of Alice.

'A fiancée, you say?'

However, he reverted back to his past behavior when he noticed a girl waiting for him in the hallway.

It was the young maid Roxy who had served him breakfast today.

Noticing him, she quickly walked over to him. Her finger nervously tousled her long black hair as her eyes ran around.

"Um... the Head Maid will definitely scold me for this, but if you don't mind, Young Master, may I ask?"

"Feel free to ask."

Gathering her thoughts, she asked in an excited voice, her large eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Is it true that it only takes one look for you to make a person fall down and bleeding? Especially for women."

"What?"

Her question was so unexpected that even he was confused for a moment.

"N-nothing! Consider that I didn't ask anything, Young Master!"

Roxy ran off at a speed abnormal for a common maid.

Not realizing the uproar his recent actions had caused, Rain could only stare in incomprehension at the fleeing maid, muttering to herself in despair.

"Now I'm definitely going to get killed by the Head Maid...!"

He'd noticed the looks on him had changed since this morning, but to that extent?

"Ah, never mind. Whatever happened, it doesn't look like anything bad."

Rain pushed those thoughts aside and continued on his way to his room.

After all, there was someone he needed to talk to right now.

Once there, he saved one of the cake sets for a future meeting with Celestia and left the other in his hands.

"Sives, let's talk."

As he said this, his Storage Ring vibrated, and in a moment his surroundings changed. He was no longer in his room, or even anything resembling a room, rather it was just a space separated from the rest of the world.

All that was there was the bed on which the wolf girl lazily lay, her hair, shimmering a shade of polar glow was scattered across the sheets.

This bed was still recently used for Eliana's education, so it was a little damp, but Sives didn't seem to mind.

She still had the collar around her neck, and her ears were moving faintly, showing that she was barely aware of his presence. Even so, she still had the ineffable grace of the true master of this place.

Only then did Rain remember that she was originally a Rift Master who had once possessed a vast inner world.

Unfortunately, her former inner world, which was a high-class Rift – a separate space accessible only to her – was destroyed during her rescue from the clutches of the Academy.

Was this space the beginnings of her new world?

He asked her that question.

"Yawn... This?"

She looked around the space several meters wide and answered with complicated emotion.

"Something like that. Although compared to my original Rift, which was over 40,000 kilometers, it's nothing."

"Anyway, you..."@@novelbin@@

Her eyes narrowed and her hand instantly moved to the pair of pastries beside her, as if trying to protect them.

"Have you come to pick up something again?"

She never seemed to forget the incident when he had taken her strawberry cake with whipped cream to give to the silver-haired elf Lapielle.

"No, but I brought you something better."

He handed her a set of cakes from his hands.

"Hmpf, you think I need some kind of handout from a human being? I might have taken it from you once, but a second time?"

Sives snorted, proudly sticking out her chest.

Despite this, her eyes couldn't tear themselves away from the box of cakes.

There was nothing surprising about it. They were cakes made by the top chef from our Family, who usually made them for Celestia and put a lot of effort into them.

At the mere sight of them, her tail continuously wagged like a small puppy's.

It was so noticeable that Rain wondered if she was doing it on purpose. He even unconsciously reached up and put his hand on her head.

Pat.

"W-what are you doing?!"

Like a frightened cat, she jumped up from her seat.

"Ah, sorry. It's just that you looked so cute I couldn't resist."

"C-cute? How can I look cute? I'm a beast, a supreme being, a human hunter!"

She grinned at him and growled quietly.

Perhaps in her true form it would sound threatening, but in her current form with her face completely red it sounded like a cute puppy flirting.

Rain couldn't help but smile at her demeanor.

That's why everyone loves cute things, right?

"Then I'll take it back…"

He tried to put the set of cakes back away.

"S-stop!"

Trying to maintain as much of his status as possible, she calmly said with a slight red face.

"Ahem. I didn't say I wouldn't accept them as a small offering... Who knows, maybe I'll recover my strength faster if I eat these..."

He wanted to know how it worked, but he decided not to torture her any further.

"Of course. Recuperate quickly, there's a lot more to come."

As soon as the box of cakes was within her reach, she immediately picked it up and hid it behind her back.

"Okay."

The atmosphere around him changed.

"Now let's get down to the real business."
